This restaurant is inside the Park Shore Hotel. It is quaint and fairly quiet. The food was good and Ms Tamiko was friendly and patient with good recommendations. It is a bit pricey so be prepared to spend.

Called in a reservation several days prior to going to Yoshitsune. The restaurant is located in the Park Shore Waikiki on the Makai end of Kapahulu Avenue. There is validated valet parking or you can park across the street at the zoo. The restaurant is located towards the rear of the hotel lobby. You enter through a noren (fabric curtain), and the first thing you see is the sushi bar. The sushi chef yells out "irasshaimase". There was no host, one of the servers greeted and escorted us to our reserved table. There were about 4 other tables with guests seated (with more tables near entrance in front of the sushi bar). The menu and dining utensils were already on the table. Our server came over and asked if we wanted anything to drink, so we requested water, green tea and BIL ordered a Coke. We ordered the sweet miso eggplant and edamame for starters. I ordered the Yoshitsune Bento with broiled Atlantic Salmon. Wifey ordered the Shizuka Gozen Bento with misoyaki butterfish and my son got the 8 piece Maguro Nigiri sushi. Our server brought us a complimentary house-made tofu appetizer. It was very unique, soft and like threads of noodles. The sweet miso eggplant was delicious! Our server said that the house-made tofu, sweet miso eggplant and the misoyaki butterfish are their specialties. Our server brought pickled vegetables and miso soup, followed by our entrees. My lunch was beautifully plated in a black lacquered partitioned bento box with Maguro sashimi, assorted tempura, vegetable nimono, broiled salmon and white rice. The entire bento was very flavorful and delicious! Both servers spoke with a Japanese accent were so friendly. In fact, besides the mainland tourists sitting adjacent to us, the diners at the other tables all spoke Japanese. They must be regulars, because the two servers appeared to know them. Our meals came with ice cream, so I ordered green tea ice cream. A little bitter, a little sweet, it was a perfect way to end our meal. The same server that escorted us to our table walked us to the restaurant's entry and held open the noren and thanked us for dining with them. We paid for our valet ticket ($5) at the hotel's front desk and gave the valet our ticket. It was a very enjoyable lunch, probably one of the more authentic Japanese restaurants on Oahu. We will definitely be back to try their Kamameshi dishes and their tiered Chirashi plate. Highly recommend that you try this restaurant and be sure to call in a reservation.

After a very long day of traveling we needed food and wanted fresh sushi so we asked at the hotel for a recommendation. Yoshitsune was the. Lowest so off we went. It is inside a building so maps wanted us to go into a parking lot but I finally just asked someone and he took us to their front door. As soon as we walked in I knew it was going to be good. We were greeted by the sushi chefs and taken to a table with lots of welcomes and thank yous. We ordered several pieces of nigiri and they were all so fresh and amazingly delicious. I mean fabulous. Of course we don't don't get fish this fresh in Colorado so I'm always excited about fresh fish! The Toro was my favorite and the red snapper was a close second. We also tried the grated yam and it's not for me because of the texture but . . . The restaurant is simply decorated and pleasing to the eye. It was a wonderful introduction to Honolulu!

Lunch at Yoshitsune while staying at Park Shore during my birthday staycation in Waikiki. Authentic menu, restaurant and service. This spot is tucked inside the hotel lobby so I had not actually heard of it before. Seated immediately and pointed towards the lunch special, which looked amazing, however I was with my daughter and she does not eat mushrooms and likes to share so we looked over the menu and picked out a couple of items. Everything was fresh and delicious. The tempura was some of the best I had ever had. The sashimi was also a really nice assortment and plentiful. While the menu has items priced fairly high, we were able to have a very affordable lunch! Beverages were available including tea, beer and wine, although we just had water after a long morning swim. Great spot!

I love this place. It's super traditional, affordable/wide range of prices from "cheap" to "overly expensive" and there's something for every one. They have an extensive menu with everything Japanese! We've tried their nigiri's, chirashi bowl, sukiyaki, miso glazed fish, tempura, udon, omakase. Everything is authentically Japanese. I LOVE their sukiyaki course. It's so good and not too sweet. They used such good beef too. I also go the chirashi bowl. It was so generous! Fresh raw fish, so plentiful. Their miso glazed butterfish is a must if you don't want to go the raw route. And their udon for our toddler was so good. He loved it. The tempura was fried to perfection, my FIL loved it. I love how extensive the menu is, but it's hard to pick bc everything is made so well here! Even the servers are Japanese and barely speaks English. The chefs are super nice too. We had a 1.5 year old toddler who couldn't hold still, so we took turns taking him to the lobby. The chef ran out with a box of hot wheels and let my son choose one. So thoughtful!! We try to come back every time we're in Waikiki. One of our favorite places.

In the middle of Waikiki, where plastic leis, watered-down cocktails, and overpriced fusion dominate the scene, Yoshitsune quietly keeps doing what it's always done: serve honest, traditional Japanese food with zero pretension. The chawanmushi arrives first, warm, delicate, and impossibly smooth. A blank canvas, if you're bold enough to improvise. We were. A scoop of fresh uni, ordered as sashimi, gently placed on top. Silky meets briny. Pure harmony. The fried oysters are crisp and clean, comforting but not heavy. Just the right bite. The sashimi is confident and unadorned--pristine slices, expertly cut, no unnecessary garnish. Just fish, done right. Then the steak hits the table, sizzling and fragrant, still whispering from the heat. Our kids didn't ask questions. They just dug in and didn't stop until the plate was wiped clean. We've returned here again and again over the years. Different trips, different moods, same result. Yoshitsune is tradition that never feels tired. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel. It's just reminding you how good the wheel already was. No flash, no show. Just craft, care, and food that keeps calling you back, even in the heart of Waikiki.

Miso butterfish breakfast with imperial upgrade is amazing. I it. There are so nice and the food is amazing. Opens at 8am. Such a tasty way to start the day

    Sashimi plate.

This was one of the best meals I have ever had. The food and service were phenomenal. We were a party of 6 with different experiences with Japanese food but we all loved the dishes we ordered. My husband and I had the sashimi 5 course. It was unbelievable. Our guests also had the 5 course meals and loved them. All of the servers were spectacular. The only thing lacking was ambiance. I encourage you to take a chance and enjoy superb food and gracious hospitality.

Incredibly delicious traditional Japanese restaurant inside the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel. I never would've thought to go here but we got a recommendation from a family friend. We called ahead to make a reservation for a table of 8. When we arrived around 6, the restaurant was half full. I ordered the two tier chirashi and it was so so so good. The fish was fresh and paired so great with the sushi rice. The sushi rice had the perfect amount of rice vinegar and overall seasoning. Staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is a bit on the older side and somewhat dark. We'll be coming back to try other dishes and to order the same thing!

Food was very tasty and with clear attention to detail (eg Tofu was not store bought). Service was prompt and friendly but not overwhelming. The ambience is low key and feels like a small shop in Japan. I recommend it. You must enter through the lobby of Park Shore hotel.

Situated in the Park Shore hotel is Yoshitsune. Valet parking. Enter the hotel and the dining room we were in was almost through the kitchen Service was good, food delicious. I had the Masutake set. Masutake broth was so sweet and flavorful, I even ate every piece in the little pot. Tofu was so silky and noodle like. Tempura was good, not as crispy as I would have liked but still good. Generous portion of Masutake rice, I had to bring leftovers home. Room was crowded but still comfortable to have a conversation. I would return .

Not only that, but I have to bring my significant other along to share in the deliciousness! I don't know how I'm just now talking about Marugame Udon. When I first came here, my friend and I decided to give it a try because we saw the longest line and wanted to see what all the hype was about. There was a couple in front of us who said they come here every time they visit Hawaiʻi and that it's a must-do stop on every trip. When you walk in, it's a small place. You can watch a team member washing the noodles and portioning them into bowls right in front of you. Then you choose your bowl size, small or large, and select your broth. After that, you get to choose from a variety of fried items and other à la carte options displayed on a warmer. Seating can be limited because of how busy this place gets. You line up to get your food, pay for it, grab your condiments, utensils, and a cup of water, then find a seat and enjoy. I've already been here twice, and after writing about my experience, I need to make a third visit happen very soon! There are not enough days off in a week to enjoy all of the amazing food on this island, but I'm going to do my best to experience as many places as I can. This place is totally worth the 45-minute commute from Wahiawa.

This place has been a staple for my family ever since we moved back to O'ahu a few years ago. Bottom line? The soba noodles here are utterly fantastic. They are, in my humble opinion, the best on the island, and some of the best soba noodles I've ever had. I don't think anywhere else in Honolulu comes close. You come here to eat soba. Period. In addition to the soba being phenomenal, the other offerings at i-naba are also similarly great. Their tempura in particular is outstanding. I typically order the Jumbo Shrimp Tempura Bowl & Soba or the Dx Tempura Bowl & Soba. Plus an upgrade to a large size soba! The tempura is sooo good. It's crispy, light, and airy. The jumbo shrimp is especially succulent and tender. And the ingredients are always perfectly seasoned with the sweet and savory house sauce. Yummmy! If you're looking for the best soba and awesome tempura, this is your spot!!!

The service was amazing and our waitress gave great recommendations that honestly helped a lot since there were so many things we wanted to try. I also thought it was such a thoughtful touch that they offered little baskets to keep your purses by your feet. My favorites were definitely the skewers, the shrimp toast with the white sauce, and the bao buns. I'm a really picky eater, but they somehow managed to sneak vegetables I normally avoid into several dishes and I barely found myself picking anything out, which says a lot. The atmosphere was perfect for a double date. It wasn't overly quiet, so we could actually have conversations without feeling like we had to whisper. We sat towards the back near the bar and bathroom, which was nice because it was very cozy and private. The restaurant space isn't too large, but just cozy enough that it isn't overwhelming. Since it was my first time, our server took the time to explain the menu to us. They are also celebrating their upcoming second anniversary, so they have a special menu for the occasion. After hearing some recommendations, we decided to order: Enoki Beef Rolls, Crispy Wonton, Garlic Shrimp, Mushroom Jook, and Crispy Pork Belly. For drinks, I ordered the Haku (non-alcoholic), and my friend ordered the "little cocktail" Tiny Victories. I loved my drink! I tried my friend's cocktail, which I would describe as tiny but mighty! All of the food was very tasty, but my favorites include the crispy wonton and mushroom jook. The wonton tasted like oxtail soup wrapped in a fried wonton, just as the server described. The mushroom jook was the most flavorful jook I've ever tasted. It was jam-packed with umami flavors, and the ginger flavor was heavily present. I found the dishes to be on the smaller portion size, which is why we ordered many items. They were all shareable, so you can taste a little of everything. For dessert, we decided to share the mochi churros. These were so good! Perfectly fried churros with mochi flour that added a chewy middle, then dipped in the kinako dipping sauce. They added a candle in a beautiful dish for my birthday. Very thoughtful! Throughout our evening, we had several different servers help us - either pour more water in our glasses, take our dishes away, or serve our dishes with a detailed description. All of the staff were very knowledgeable about EVERY dish on the menu. It felt like a family in how everyone took care of us and stepped in when they saw we needed something. I haven't had this type of service at a restaurant in a while, so I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, it was excellent service and delicious food! All the staff were very friendly from the minute we sat down until the very end of the night (three hours later!), when one of the chefs waved goodbye to us. What started as a good meal became an exceptional experience thanks to the incredible staff! I will definitely return with my family! Happy Eating!
