I have waited a while to write this review, as I wrote to the company, TWICE, in the hopes they would acknowledge the problem, but alas, they have not responded (including e-mailing the corporate offices of the parent company), so I can only presume they truly don't care about how badly they messed up our move. We needed a full pack, move and unpack, because we are both extremely busy and taking care of a kid who has some special needs. We had a similar service done when we moved into that apartment in 2016 and it went fairly smoothly. However, the person we used was not taking any jobs during the pandemic. After coming and surveying we were given an estimate and assured this could be done over 3 days (1 to pack, 1 to move, 1 to unpack). Prior to them actually moving, we got rid of several items and actually found time to do a decent amount of packing. We also obtained a large amount of boxes, bubble wrap and packing tape to save a little on material costs. The pack went extremely slow as one of the people who showed seemed very distracted. He kept walking past our supplies and using You Move Me supplies and packed up several items that he was specifically told not to pack (for example we had clothes on our bed we had put aside, so we had 3 days of clothes and he packed them up and then didn't remember which box he had put them in). The original plan was to pack everything BUT the beds and move it into the living room so it could be easily moved out the next morning. However, by the end of the day, packing was not complete. We were told the new plan was to start the morning by finishing up the packing and then move everything over. I received a call the next morning a few minutes before I expected people to show that they could NOT show up that day, as one of the movers had a family tragedy. They told me only 2 people were now available and they didn't think 2 people could move our stuff. This was odd since the original estimate called for 3 people on packing day, 4 people on moving day and 4 people on unpacking day, so I couldn't understand how losing 1 person left them with only 2. I was ultimately told a full crew of 4 would show up the next day, finish the packing and move everything over. On Saturday morning the new crew of 4 showed up. However, they changed the plan once they got there and now decided to start with loading the truck with the items that were already packed, while also getting the beds and other items prepped. At one point towards the early afternoon we were told the truck was full, but we still had a significant amount of items at the apartment and lots of items were still left completely unpacked. I don't know how this had filled up the truck, since we had more stuff when we moved in (since we had now gotten rid of a large couch, a large bed frame and a TV) and it was moved in during one trip. The NEW plan was now to take these items over, unpack them, assemble the beds and then for unpack day they would start at the old unit, grab what was left, pack up the remaining items, bring them over and unpack everything. That next morning I received a call that there was a new plan. Instead of everyone going to the old unit to FINISH the packing and moving, 2 people were going to the old unit to finish packing and moving and 2 people were going to the new unit to do the unpacking. This ended up making everything worse, b/c it was impossible to properly coordinate it with my wife and I separated and one of us looking after our son, as we were needed at both locations. We started off the day with 4 people, but 1 person left after about 2 hours and then another left an hour or 2 later. The people unpacking, now, were not the people who packed and they had no idea what was in any box, as the boxes were not properly labeled. The crew had to give up b/c they told me they had another move they had to go pick up a bigger truck for. We were left with about 50% of home left to unpack and MANY items missing until this day. (PS, we are still not unpacked)! They just missed in every way on this job. read more

Our family recently completed a local move and chose to use You Move Me for our transfer. After reading many positive reviews about the company in other states, we decided to make an appointment for an estimate. Sven, an area manager, came out to walk through the house and give a quote. He was so professional and down-to-earth with no sales tactics or false promises. A couple of days later, we made our decision to use You Move Me. When moving day arrived we received a phone call from Sven asking how we were doing and if we wanted coffee brought to us. Wow! What a treat. Three large coffees with cream and sugar. The movers showed up on time, were very clean cut and super friendly. They worked very efficiently and took great care in wrapping and moving our belongings to and from the truck. Overall, this was the very best move we have ever made. I don't think we will ever use another moving company. You Move Me did a fantastic job and we would highly recommend them. Overall pretty good. We used them for an office move last week. The customer service was good and the booking process was good. I had a very specific start time so not to disrupt our business operations. The showed up about 45 minutes late, although did call in advance. The guys worked efficiently and were in uniform. They got to the other place quickly and did not drag out the drive time like some movers do. We noticed we were missing a box the following day. I called a couple of times and a couple of days later they called back. They found the box and delivered it to me. I've moved more than a few times in my life- around New York City, around the world, and across the country. I've used numerous moving companies with varying rates of success and headache. I recently used "You Move Me" on a move from Westwood to Culver City. This is a review of that move. When I called the 1-800# Chris in Toronto answered and was courteous, professional and did his best to answer all of my questions. He walked me through the quotation process and whenever a question arose re: price, he said "let's price it on the high side to avoid surprises". After about 20 mins, he had all the info he need to generate a quote. Within 10 minutes of getting off the phone, I had a quote, a contract and a local contact (who promptly took the "hand off " from corporate). My move was scheduled - even though it was pretty last minute. Daniel, Will and Louis were my "crew" and they delivered as promised. They dropped off boxes before my move and walked through my place giving me feedback on what/how to pack. On the day of my move, they showed up promptly, in uniform and ready to work. They worked as a team, each taking different areas of my house until,slowly but surely, my house was empty and their truck was full. They had carefully wrapped each item that I hadn't packed- I can say that NOT ONE ITEM was lost, broken or "misplaced". In all of previous moves, I was unable to write the above. They actually BEAT ME to my new place (I'm a fast driver as well!) and were beginning to get unloaded when I arrived. They started to unpack and were very careful to make sure that each item was placed exactly where I wanted it. We even moved my king-sized bed 3 times! They were patient and understanding, which I appreciated. After about 6 hours- the move was completed and all of my boxes and household items were exactly where I wanted them. The only thing left for me to do now is unpack!! You Move Me 's pricing structure is straightforward and simple: 1) Boxes (which they buy back if unused) 2) Time (2 man minimum) per hour 3) Double drive time I appreciate the no bs and drama approach and paid about what I expected on my move. Excellent experience! Of course they were professional, prompt, detailed oriented and fast but I am guessing there are a lot of companies that can claim that. What not every company is, is kind, caring and understanding. Moving is stressful! No way around it but You Move Me was understanding and helpful from start to finish in what was not an easy move for me. I can't say enough about my most recent move with them. I was not thinking when I booked my move on Friday the 13th because everything that could go wrong that day did. It is a long story but the bottom line is, You Move Me waited hours because of a road problem on my street and in the end could not move me that day. The most EXPENSIVE move I've ever had, for the smallest move I've ever had. I stopped them from reassembling my bed and desk because they were so SLOOOOOOW. They charge by the hour, so slowness = $$$$. They broke stuff, refused to pay damages, and called me a liar. I'm a veteran. I served after 9/11. I've been through many moves. I've seen many movers. They usually fly with speed. You Move Me guys crawled. Moreover, they charged me for 4-5 guys. But most of the time, only 1 guy packed while 2 were "out at the truck, arranging stuff." Another one went back and forth. During off-loading, 1 guy moved while 2 guys stood around in my apartment "arranging" what was brought up. They claimed slowness was the key to not breaking stuff. But when I showed them that my pinball machine was broken, their response was, "how do I know it wasn't broke before we moved it." I thanked them for calling me a liar, they said "I didn't say that." Ok, you didn't use those particular words, but yeah, you said it. Prior to the move, I had beseeched them to be careful with the pinball machine. They said they were and refused to pay damages. But as I unpackd my boxes, I also found a broken waffle iron and a broken toothbrush holder. It took force to break these items, so my stuff bounced in their truck quite a bit. It's no surprise that the sensitive pinball machine broke as well. They have not paid any damages. During the move, before off-loading everything, the team lead warned me that if I wanted them to stay, they were going to go over their estimate. Seriously. Instead of picking up the pace, they took time to "ask" if I was all right with paying more. Did I have a choice?! At the end, I was so tired of arguing with these guys that I just paid them full price (over estimate because they charge by the hour) and FORGOT to get their insurer info. You Move Me, please take responsibility and let me know of your insurance company so I can file a claim. YELP, I called these guys because, at the time, they had a 5 star rating. I see they've already been downgraded to 4.5. Please do your users a favor and post this review. Never have I seen movers move so slowly, and stand around so much. It wouldn't be a problem if they charged a flat fee. But it's a GIANT problem when they charge by the hour. read more

I am very impressed with "You Move Me!" I used them a couple of weeks ago and they were terrific. Just so happened I wanted my sister to have a dining set I wasn't using and called them again. Drew and Sushi arrived right on time, wrapped everything up and we were off to Brentwood to deliver the set. I chose You Move Me because of the great recommendations here on Yelp, and I was not disappointed. Daniel, Will, and John were FREAKIN AMAZING and so much fun to spend the morning with. They took all the stress out of the process, and handled my belongings with good humor and great care. They did an excellent job at a reasonable price. We ended up hiring 3 people instead of 2 bc it would go faster even tho the per hour is pricier. It would save us money in the long run. Also got the bigger truck for the same price. We thot it was worth it bc they spend less time arranging the stuff in the truck. Christian A. was the team leader. He was really on top of it. Jesse was the muscle and the driver. Hard working guys. Luis was the 3rd guy. They were all great. So considerate and accommodating! We had to make a bunch of stops picking more things up and dropping them off at different places along the way. Our new place has really light carpet and the guys were so careful about taking off their shoes when they were on it. None of the furniture was damaged which was my main concern when I hired a moving company. This is our first move w movers. Christian was careful to make sure everyone wrapped everything in blankets. He seems like a really good leader. Knew how to talk to the other guys to get things done right. In addition, the office side of things was super good and efficient. We had to move the date and they did everything possible to accommodate it. Usually, the office is the hardest part to deal w but this company really knos what they're doing there too. At the end of the move, there were no surprise charges. Everything was broken down perfectly for us. It was easy. I would hire them in a heart beat for our next move. Make sure u tip ur movers! We hired you move me a few weeks ago to move us in West LA. A man named Brett called us on the phone to schedule the move. He claimed to be very professional and insisted that they would cover all damage to our items in the event anything happened during the move. When we asked about packing some of the more fragile things ourselves (e.g. with bubble wrap), he asked us not to pack anything, because then they wouldn't be responsible and covered any items damaged during the moving process. Kyle and one other gentleman packed our kitchen and moved us. While they wrapped our stoneware well, they literally took our brand-new knife set and wrapped it tightly in a ball of paper and tape around the wood block, rather than removing the knives and packing them properly, irreparably damaging our knives. Many other items in our kitchen were packed the same way, or worse thrown haphazardly into boxes with no consideration for their care (no packaging, no bubble wrap). In addition to this, they did not wrap any of our furniture except the couches, including glass shelves and rod iron pieces, insisting that everything would be fine, in spite of our repeatedly asking them to do so as it was very clear they would likely be damaged with the way they were being handled. We are still continuing to find damage to our furniture, scratches (many greater than 3-6 inches), scrapes, nicks, and other damage from sheer carelessness (including banging things into walls). Worst of all, when we started discovering issues with our furniture right at the end of the move, without even proper time to inspect the full extent of the damage, they refused to leave unless we signed a form removing them from all liability, or told us we would have to go through a legal claims process which could be drawn out for many months. TL;DR You move me was unprofessional, irreparably damaged the vast majority of our furniture, and will pressure you into signing a form absolving them of all liability. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. read more

I couldn't be more unhappy with this company's service. They broke a desk and a exercise bike. They also told me that they couldn't move my refigerator unless they unpacked it and took off the doors. After doing that, they said that it still couldn't be moved and thus they left it at the old address. When I went back to check, they had left it in pieces (doors in the living room and the casing in the kitchen) and damage on the walls indicating that they were attempting to take it out in a direction that made no sense as if they had simply went down hallway, in the other direction, they would have been able to take it out. I know this because my son-in-law and I had no problem getting it into the kitchen going in that direction. When asked why they had left it in pieces, the lead mover said that he would go back and put it back together and didn't do as he said. It ended up with me having to pay someone else $225.00 dollars to get it moved out of the old place. The next day I called to tell them my issues with the move and after listening to me the person I spoke to told me that he would call me back to resolve my issues, and didn't. When I called the number that he gave me, no one answered. I have no idea if this is common with this company, but I do know that they sent me incompetent help and simply avoided me when I tried to address the issues that I had with them. It is quite ironic that this company "prides" itself in providing the best customer service, when in fact their top concern is making sure that any negative review they receive is invalidated or better yet taken down. Since "Customer E," who I am assuming to be Kelsey MacGregor- You Move Me's customer experience coordinator, is so concerned with letting the facts be known, lets let them all be known shall we? So here are the facts of my experience AFTER posting my review based on my experience with this company: - The morning after I posted my review, I received a phone call from the LA franchise business owner, Zaid, who claimed that he was interested in making this entire situation right. I believed him until he began his attempts to manipulate me to change/delete my Yelp review by explaining to me multiple times that the actual guys who moved my belongings would be terminated due to my review. As I told Zaid, that is not my problem and there is absolutely nothing that You Move Me could do to get me to change/delete my review. I am an honest person and Yelp is made for the CUSTOMER and I think that it is appropriate that I let other customers know the experience that I had. And as for the actual men who worked on my job getting penalized, I am assuming that that was a lie as well due to reading more recent reviews who mention the men on my crew. -Through a series of emails, Kelsey informed me that the only way that I could receive reimbursement for the damage done to my personal belongings is if I were to sign a "formal contract for reimbursement." After taking a look at this "contract" and having my lawyer review it, it was apparent that this document had no legal validity. This document states in so many words that the customer must delete any negative review they have posted if they expect to receive reimbursement. Furthermore, there is no direct correlation between my review and reimbursement that I am due for damage to my personal property caused by this company. -I let Kelsey know that I would not sign that document, as well as informing her that it was not legally valid. In previous emails she had even mentioned herself that she was unsure if the "contract" would hold up in court. Let me assure you, it would not. I outlined the damage done to my property and asked her to advise me when I would expect reimbursement. She assured me she would get back to me in 1-2 business days (this was last week) and the only reply I have received from her or the company is the comment that was just posted to my initial review. Thanks for the professional response Kelsey. You Move Me continues to dig itself in a bigger hole and I am more disgusted by the way the company conducts business. Very disappointed in YMM. I booked them through Got Junk (don't know if they're associated together or not). The woman i spoke to on the phone quoted me $126/hour with a 2 hour minimum. Our move should have taken no more than 1/2 hour because it was for a senior living facility move from one apartment to another, on the same floor, right around the corner. The only thing we had to move was a dresser, love seat, small coffee table, cedar chest and compact refrigerator. We didn't need wrapping, didn't need packing or boxes. I wasn't pleased about the 2 hour minimum but was in a bind so I said yes. She also quoted me a 2 hour window for arrival. I chose 2-4 pm. I received several calls from Kyle; the final one at 4:40 saying they were leaving their job "now" and didn't arrive until 5:20. 3 men total moved all 5 pieces within 1/2 hour. I had previously spoken to Alex at their office asking if we could get an adjustment because of the late arrival. He said to talk to the guys and see if they will negotiate a better price for you. When they arrived, I mentioned this to Kyle and he said no adjustments "We also brought a 3rd guy even though you didn't ask for it"...which of course was not my problem. I get the invoice via email for the $252 I paid (I first had a check prepared but they wanted a credit card...) and it states, "We promise to arrive in the two-hour window that you booked. We'll give you a call 15-30 minutes before your promise window to give you a better idea of our exact arrival time. In the rare case that we can't be at your move within our two-hour window we will call you and let you know when we will be there." First of all, "promise" means exactly that. to say "promise" then "In the rare case that we can't be at your move within our two-hour window we will call you and let you know when we will be there." invalidates the promise. Why promise something if there's a chance it won't happen. Suggestion to YMM: Change your contract to say, to the effect, "We will do our best to arrive within the 2 hour window, but in the unlikely event we do not because of circumstances beyond our control, we will call you to let you know when we will be there". That way it's not a guaranteed promise that can be broken, but rather an estimate. Left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. As it was, the time they spent there was minimal. 5 pieces of furniture, 30 minutes, and then not even willing to negotiate...Not good business in my opinion. Be a little more flexible with senior citizens. Most live on a fixed income and $250 for a 1/2 hour job is $500 an hour. More than lawyers charge! Will I use them again? No. read more

So initially I wrote a great review about this business but sadly I have to take most of it back. The mover, joseph, hounded me the whole week after I moved in to write a review bc he "got raises based on the reviews." Well no wonder he wanted me to write one so quickly & before I was unable to unpack everything...after about 3 weeks of unpacking, I realized I was missing clothes and DVDs (and who knows what else!) Wow! I am MORE than just pleased with this company!!! I've moved over 50 times in my lifetime and I can say without a doubt that this company was by far the most professional, efficient and reasonable moving company I've ever used. All my stuff was delivered safely and assembled properly. They didn't break a thing! Customer service was outstsnding!!! I was in a real pickle, the packers and movers, that I originally hired, didn't book my appointment. So I was left with 3 days to move out 53 years of household items, due to a quick escrow. I was in a panic and didn't know what to do. You Move Me, came to my rescue! Brett came on Tuesday, gave me an estimate, and the guys, A. J and Sushi, came and packed it all up in just hours. Great guys! AJ and Sushi did everything I had hoped for and more!!! Packed, moved, unloaded and unpacked with in 5 hours. House is empty and sold, and we could not have done it without these guys.
