    Low frills interior

Really wanted to love...but didn't. The Asian auntie who both cashiers and serves was such a sweet woman. Very attentive and warm to our table. Offered additional bon chon throughout our meal. The food was subpar. My garlic shrimp was doused in so much butter that my stomach didn't agree with all the fat post-meal. I'm not the biggest fan of kimchi or side salads but everyone at the table was in agreement that the taste was just meh. The side salad was not a mac salad but some sort of corn concoction? Nothing I've ever had before. Low frills restaurant, kind service, just ok eats.

Korean Chili Chicken, with kimchi and corn salad over white rice

Young's Korean BBQ exists in the same spot that Kim's formerly did, in the parking lot of Safeway on 112th. I ordered the Korean Chili Chicken to go. It comes with rice, your choice of pickled vegetables or kimchi, and a corn salad. It costs about 15.95. Upon opening my to-go container at home, the portions of chicken and rice are ample. There was a nice portion of kimchi and of the corn salad. I tried the corn salad first. The salad is a style of con saelreodeu, a sweet corn and mayo based salad with onions and some peppers. It had a nice crunch to the vegetables and corn, and was sweet like would be expected. I found it a bit too sweet for my taste, but it wasn't candy sweet or anything. Next for the chicken. I asked if it was like a buldak and she said that no, it was her own recipe and a different dish. The chicken (dark meat) was well fried and had a sticky and shiny coating, and looked very nice (see image). It was on a bed of short/medium grain rice that had a nice sticky quality to it as well. Biting into the meat, I found the chicken incredibly juicy with a very sweet flavor profile. Here's where I'm a bit sad to say that it was not as I'd hope. The flavor profile was rather one note (sweet) and I got almost no spice to it. It also didn't taste strongly of anything else, so if you had asked me I don't know I would have said it was Korean chicken vs like, the more American Chinese food coated chicken you can find in a lot of places. The rice did absorb the sauce, which again was very sweet. The star of the show, ironically, was the kimchi. It was crunchy and pungent, with some spice and a nice well rounded fermented flavor that was delicious over the rice. Honestly, I would have happily had that and a bowl of rice and called it a day.

I ordered the chilli chicken and a Dr. Pepper food was okish nothing special 1 star. I absolutely hate leaving hungry, the portion size was way too small. It reminded me a of lunch special worth $8. Service was ok nothing special. The ambiance was basic but very clean so I added 1 star. I'll never go back not worth my $20

First time in and great experience Friendly family-run business. Good for dine in or quick takeout. Attentive service too! Ordered the BBQ Kalbi, Chili Chicken, and BBQ Spicy pork amongst three people to try out these three for the first time! Yummm. My fav was the Spicy Pork

Order the spicy pork & kalbi short ribs combo and thank me later!! And if you come extremely hungry, get the spaghetti as an appetizer! Lovely owner, delicious food, and clean space -- cant get any better! Truly a hidden gem in Vancouver

Chicken Curry, corn salad, pickled veggies

Because of the great reviews we stopped at Youngs Kitchen this afternoon. Except for someone picking up a to go order we were the only ones in there. The owner was helpful and so friendly. I ordered the chicken bbq with corn salad and pickled cucumbers. The chicken was favorable and cooked perfectly. If I had one suggestion it might be a little sauce to blend with the rice. I enjoyed the corn salad. Never had anything like it before. My husband had the chicken curry with the same sides. He thought it was good and would order it again. He also liked the corn salad. The portions were very generous. We definitely will be back.

The spaghetti reminded me of the Hawaiian restaurant zippys. One of my personal favs. Definitely worth the try given the location.

Hands down my favorite Korean Chinese fusion spot in the greater Portland area!! Pan + Grill K…read moreFusion serves the best black bean noodles I've had around here - rich, savory, and full of that unmistakable wok hei flavor. The pork belly is high quality and they don't skimp on the veggies. Their tangsuyuk is another standout, perfectly crispy even when coated in sauce, which is no easy feat (if you know, you know). The wasabi shrimp has a unique, addictive flavor with just the right amount of crunch. And the kimchi burger? Thoughtfully crafted with a soft brioche bun, a juicy, flavorful patty, and kimchi that really pops. Beyond the food, the hospitality makes the experience even better. Sam and the staff are incredibly warm and attentive. They are happy to offer recommendations, check in throughout your meal, and always greet you with a smile. If I lived closer, I would be there all the time, especially to take advantage of their lunch specials. If you are in the area, this place is an absolute must try, especially since they are always updating the menu with new dishes to try!

I didn't give it a 5 star because I was a bit disappointed with how little protein they add to their ganjjajang. First time I ordered the pork and then I ordered the seafood on another visit. The taste was amazing and authentic but I was disappointed with the pork because they give you like 6 pieces of pork and there is tiny fried pieces as well but the size of a scab lol. I love the big pieces of veggies in it but it's sad they can't do the same with the protein. Now with the seafood version it was the exact same thing very little protein but mountain of veggies except this time the zucchini was so tiny while they gave me giant blocks of onions again I don't mind that but it's all disproportionate. Nothing to what I have had at different Korean spots in Arizona. Everything else is amazing like their fried rice or bulgogi burgers. Their tteokboki is alright it's a niche type of dish so it won't be for everyone. It was more sweet than I like but that's just a me thing. Service was great and the ambiance was chill, quiet and cozy. We will still be returning just maybe will stop ordering the jajamyeon unfortunately.

They require 4 types of meat to be ordered per round, so to get your money's worth it is soooo much food to be consuming with less people. The wine pork belly is awful. It was room temperature and tasted more rancid than anything else. No salt or flavor. The tripe was insanely tough and chewy, you could get the same experience from a rotting tire in Portland. The garlic, and lemon pepper chicken were both dry and flavorless. Not a very good variety of vegetables either. The Galbi was actually flavorful and juicy and I would personally recommend that if you decide to go. The server was polite and very respectful but I might as well have been mute and them blind with how easy it was to call them back to be able to order rounds of food following the first one. They were slow to clean up empty plates as well. The grill was not hot enough to cook things in a timely manner so I would also keep that in mind. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait around 25 minutes to be seated. I don't think I would go back but you can decide for yourself. ;))

The Banchan sides are perfect. Especially the radish and fish cake. I was served by Jonathan. A very polite and courteous young man. He made sure my drinks were topped off and also took the time to engage me in conversation. The bibimbap is fresh, sizzling hot and delicious. I sat in a booth , and want to say there are tables available as well. Obviously this place has made my faves list when in the area. Thanks King Kong Korean. One happy customer.

On the surface, Kingkong Korean BBQ is pretty much like every other "grill-it-yourself"…read moreestablishment, which is generally a good thing. It's immediate flaws are the same as its brethren: why does it seem like no one knows how to operate the grill at the table properly? It's always too slow to warm up, not hot enough, and requires manual intervention. Once that issue is taken care of, though, you're pretty much left to your own devices, and your satisfaction is solely based on what you order, and how well you cook it. Well, almost. In this case, for the most part, the cuts of meat were as good as any other Korean BBQ, but there were some that were decidedly not. Winners: bulgogi, miso pork belly, la galbi short ribs, steamed egg, all the side dishes and sauces. Losers: just about everything else, including the service; the employees were well-meaning and nice enough, but they were obviously very green, awkward, and forgetful. Despite being on the "premium" menu, avoid the King Kong Steak and the King Kong Marinated Beef, both of which are thick, tough slabs of meat that are took difficult to grill properly, especially when there are any of the aforementioned grill heating problems, and even then, they're just too thick, and not particularly appetizing. We also had some uninspired "cajun" shrimp, which is just regular shrimp with a dusting of seasoning on top. In fact, if it weren't for the LA Galbi short ribs, I'd say you can safely ignore the "premium" menu altogether, and just stick with the basics. That way, you can have an enjoyable meal, without paying extra for things you aren't likely to enjoy. There are better Korean BBQ places out there, but I wouldn't be opposed to giving King Kong another shot in the future. I just wouldn't pay anything more than standard price.

The new renovation definitely feels more elevated, and honestly Vancouver needs more spots like this where you can enjoy a nicer atmosphere without having to drive into Portland. Service was great, staff was professional, attentive, and overall gave off a good vibe. It actually felt like they enjoy working there, which makes a difference. I did read on their webpage that they aim to bring authentic Japanese and Korean food. Personally, wouldn't consider it fully authentic, especially if you've traveled to Japan or the mainland, you'll notice the difference. The food leans more toward American style Japanese/Korean cuisine. That being said, the food was still good and satisfying. Not authentic, but enjoyable. We would come back and are interested in trying more items on the menu. I'll update my review if anything changes.
