we've been to youngs twice now on our beach days. we've ordered the poke, fish tacos, cheeseburger, lobster roll, berry smoothie and lemonades. overall, the food is average, its tasty but definitely not worth the price. especially the lobster roll, we paid about $38 and my jaw almost dropped when the cashier rang us up. the convenience of being right on the beach is unbeatable. we arrive in the morning, set up our tent, I run upstairs to grab some lunch and my family enjoys a tasty beach lunch without ever having to leave. for that reason only, I would say it is worth it. read more

This place was right on the beach with a great view of the water. Parking was easy to find and cheap and then you walk down a big hill to get to the restaurant. There's plenty of outdoor seating. I got shrimp tacos. There were only two but they were packed with flavor. My husband also liked his poke bowl. read more

This little shack opens at 7am until Sunset. We stayed at the Ritz and wanted to eat outside the hotel but didn't want to drive. It is so close! The French toast was fluffy and thick. The acai parfait was pretty good! The granola is home made. The Acai was cold and frozen but the coconut and fresh fruit really made it so good. The croissant was warm but flaky. The raspberry jam that came with it was good. They serve lunch at breakfast which my son liked because he wanted chowder which was good with bacon bits. The view of the ocean was the best part. Enjoying a breezy outdoor place for breakfast or lunch. My husband had the sticky rice Poke Bowl with hass avocado, sriracha aioli, toasted sesame, crispy shallots, and soy glaze. It was salty. I had the Wagyu Beef Hot Dog topped with caramelized onions and mayo in a brioche bun with a side of French fries. It was satisfying. Love Sunday mornings like this, beautiful view decent food a Bloody and the best company ever. This place is located at Salt Creek Beach right on the beach. Huge parking lot and you walk down the pathway towards the beach and it's located on the right side. We ordered avocado toast a croissant , cappuccino , cold brew coffee and a Bloody Mary. Everything was tasty and the Bloody Mary was delicious, they have a small bar you can order drinks from. The view is perfect you can sit on barstools facing the ocean or at a table. It's not a very large area so I am giving it 4 stars and the avocado toast was good but I've hade better. It's a casual spot with what seems like a lot of locals but it makes for a cool spot to watch the surfers, the ocean and contemplate life lol. Service was fine you order at a window and seat yourself. Overall a great place , come check them out!! read more

What a great spot for a bite with a sunset view! Came in on a Sunday evening in December, a little cold, patio heaters would have been nice, but might also make the place feel crowded. The vibe was relaxed and lively, kids, dogs, families, people in love. Bathrooms weren't awful, considering they're beach bathrooms maintained by the city. Seating was clean and plentiful. The view, superb. I got a Stella and avocado toast, about $20, not bad considering location. It came out lukewarm, not sure if that's how it's supposed to be? But it's good! I like the egg and cream cheese, for sure, and the chips were a nice bonus. Service was friendly and prompt, but not overbearing. Make the effort to trek down the hill, it's totally worth it, and you'll want to come back. I know I do! read more

It gets the job done. It's what you would expect from a shack near the beach. Typical American food options. Serving portions are generous. On more expensive side for what it is. Alcoholic and non alcoholic options available Hard working staff that work to get your order out as quickly as possible. Clam chowder (4/5), Chicken Tenders (3.5/5), Fries with aioli (4/5)- perfect crunch and delicious. We did not order the poke bowl but it looked delicious. Draft beer was delicious & fresh (IPA was eh, but the Lager was fantastic) Great location close to Salt Creek Beach, good for kids. Took like 20 minutes after ordering to get food. read more

The food is great and the prices weren't super high. The fries are super good! I think they may be double fried. Very textured and crispy on the outside. The fish and chips was good. There were good chunks of cod and they didn't taste too fishy. Wait can be long if the beach is crowded. There's a bathroom and time station around the corner. read more

I feel like I shouldn't even leave a good review because I'm scared my local spot is going to get crazy but it's SO worth it! This our our local beach so when it was refreshed with young's beach shack we were excited. Let's start with how outstanding the service is! The bartender at the satellite bar was INSANELY talented and so sweet. He is picking up some treats and giving your doggies treats too. Love this little spot. We live 8 minutes from here and couldn't have been more happy with this place. They have quick service. The food was rock solid. And if you'd like a morning drink, they do offer those as well. Not to mention the view that you have while you eat breakfast. It's a quick order at a window spot. Not a full blown sit down. Right above the sand, this exclusive beachfront counter service restaurant serves high quality food and cocktails. We love the chicken sandwich and the poke bowl, we find them large enough to share. Love the helpful service by Kaitlyn and the other staff. Amazing million dollar views. Excellent hot chocolate and croissant sandwich. Went there after farewell & birthday Ocean swim with Merpeople ‍ swim group. Well tended tables and plenty of seating at say 9:30 AM on a Sunday in mid April. Young's opened around March 1. Might be same operator at Lost Pier by Los Alisos beach. Elite level beach brunch spot. On a par with Crystal Cove Shake Shack. Great for dogs . Fun areas to explore nearby - parks, trails, beaches. Very few vegan options but it's doable. I had the Veggie Rice Bowl and it was good! I wish that there was something more to it (tofu, a grain, etc). It's similar to the Happy Vegan from Tender Greens. The whole place is clean, new, and has a great vibe. And the view is unbelievable! We have been eagerly waiting for this to open as we love Lost Pier and this is even closer to us. We enjoyed a great lunch with our pups. We had the poke and the fish and chips both were fantastic. What makes this place even better than Lost Pier was Ruben. He was welcoming, warm, attentive and just delightful. They have changed the avocado toast. And not for the better. This WAS my favorite breakfast. After going through two forks and two knives made of paper. The egg was overcooked. The toast too hard to cut. Even after waiting for it to get soggy No avocado spread, It's now slices which are harder to eat, they fall off the toast. You can't beat the view. Young's is perched above Salt's most iconic surf breaks - from The Point to Gravels, the views take you from Laguna Beach and Catalina Island to the southern point of the cove. Spending a day at the beach, walking the bluffs, or just enjoying a sunset in the park - Young's is the perfect spot to refresh and refuel. Our menu is created by Chef Kyle St. John and features fresh seafood, locally sourced satisfying fare, beach picnic provisions, a coffee bar, beer, wine, and cocktails. History

Established in 2023.

In 2023 Young's Beach Shack opened as a coastal classic, reimagined. Inspired by the original Young's Beach Camp, a gatekeeper of Salt Creek Beach in the 1940s through the '60s, our new beachside café welcomes locals and visitors alike to stop by for a drink and a bite and enjoy the incredible and culturally rich Salt Creek Beach. It's known for its fresh seafood, hearty breakfast burritos, signature cheeseburgers, and beach picnic provisions, all made with sustainable ingredients. Executive Chef Kyle St. John heads up the culinary expertise, which also manages catering services for private events at the park's event space.

Meet the Manager: Chef Kyle S.

Kyle St. John is the Executive Chef at Young's Beach Shack, our sister café, Lost Pier Café, and The Ranch at Laguna Beach. Kyle joined The Ranch at Laguna Beach in 2016 bringing his passion of farm-to-table cooking and fresh, locally-sourced California coastal cuisine. Kyle’s love for food started in the kitchen with his family’s cooking and Grandmother's recipes, which led him into the culinary world working in restaurants while attending school. He is committed to using local, seasonal ingredients and supporting the farmers and fishermen in Southern California.

I came into this experience with high expectations. I love eating out and decided that I was going to take my girlfriend out so we could get some food and enjoy a nice beach walk. The food wasn't awful or bad by any means but that short rib grilled cheese should not be called a grilled cheese, kind of misleading. It had one type of cheese on it and only half the sandwich had cheese. It's a short rib SANDWICH, not a grilled cheese. That aside, breakfast burrito was very good and so was the fried chicken sandwich. Kyler recommended the fried chicken sandwich and it was easily the best thing we had. Overall, food is a 2/2.5. Service could use some serious work though. The server named Jared was kind of a jerk who after getting us our food walked off after we asked for some extra salsa, we never got the salsa. My girlfriend got up, walked to the window and asked for some and right after she got some heard Jared say "finally that lazy b!#ch got up and did it herself." That in my opinion is totally unacceptable, rude, demeaning and if I had been in a more irritated mood, I would've talked to the manager and had Jared fired on the spot. Service 0/2.5 Overall, I would say that the food is good but after scrolling past reviews, it seems that this Jared has a serious attitude problem and needs to be dealt with. We were standing by the pick up window the whole time so I'm not sure why he didn't call her name when he was calling everybody elses'? Best part is that after we started to walk away, one of the employees came out and made an announcement that you can order drinks from the cart. Half the queue got out of line and moved over there... This should be on a sign somewhere so that you can get in the correct line and not wait forever to order.

We ultimately stayed because we were exhausted after spending the entire day at the beach and did not want to leave the resort to find another restaurant. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy the meal because of how we were treated. Despite everything, we still left a 20% tip. The next day, we happened to see one of the hostesses and one of the servers from our dinner. When they saw us, they gave us a very strange look, which made the whole experience even more uncomfortable. I am not claiming to know exactly why we were treated differently. The green pesto with fresh veggies and squash blossoms was our absolute favorite. And of course you cannot go wrong with the classic margarita pizza... We had their summer tomato, ricotta salad, very fresh and delicious. And nothing goes better with a fresh pizza than a refreshing peach lemonade. I must tell you, make a reservation for these Friday night Pizza event events. There are no walk-ins. Plenty of parking, kid and dog friendly. It's the best way to spend a warm summer evening.

We went to experience lunch at the cafe and see the farm. We ordered our food at the service…read morewindow. It's a very limited menu. For others, this is not a sit down and be waited on place. You had to order your food and bus your own table. We got 2 local FISH wrap sandwiches which we thought would be an actual cooked tuna fillet. We asked and she said it was local caught tuna. I didn't ask further on how it was prepared. But I assumed by her response it was cooked fish. However, it was made into a cold tuna salad...prepared ahead of time and then packaged in paper. For $36! It wasn't that good, it was soggy and basically mush. It's like being at the airport and getting in the fridge section of the grab and go. You would think a farm had all fresh food to serve. Not the case in this particular menu item and can't speak for other items. After reading some other reviews that say similar sentiments (like the food isn't that good) and yet giving 4 stars (customers need to be honest, that is false advertising). We won't be back. I will say that the 2 chickens they have were cute!

I've had such great experiences at this family-owned cafe and bakery and really wanted to give them…read moresome well-deserved recognition. Most recently, they made a custom cake for my nephew, and my whole family absolutely loved it! It was beautiful, exactly what we were hoping for, and tasted just as good as it looked. The baker is incredibly talented, and you can tell a lot of care went into making it. I've also been here on separate occasions for brunch, and the food has always been delicious. The staff has always taken such great care of us and made us feel welcome. I especially love supporting family-owned small businesses, and this is the kind of place I'm happy to come back to. Thank you for the beautiful cake, the delicious food, and the wonderful service!

Visited several times during the week as we were in the area…read more Food was delicious, but inconsistent as to presentation. Best Arnold Palmers. DAYS old pastries should be given away to employees or marked down. This shows a lack of care/professionalism on owners part. Staff was great but the restaurant was consistently understaffed and servers/bussers stretched to the max. I felt sorry for how stressed they ALL were! Owner needs to rethink the needs as it could be a much better experience for everyone.
