Fast? Yes it was, and I just HATE to wait. Cheap? Nope, but nothing here is. Helmuts? Yes, and they seemed newish and clean. Water bottle holders? Maybe if you're lucky. Friendly staff? Not really. Great bike shop. These guys were very friendly. They let us exchange a bike for a bike with a baby carrier, and turn a girls bike in early while working with us on the price. They have a decent selection of tourist stuff, including some cool jerseys. They are in a nice area of the town, off the cobblestones, and right next door to the epic ice cream shop! The only con is that they don't rent mopeds anymore. You have to go next door. read more

My husband and I rented bikes at Youngs while in Nantucket. It was quick, easy and hassle free. I actually lost my bike lock key at the beach, so I had to call Youngs to come and unlock my bike from the rack. I called 15 minutes before they closed, which I felt bad about but they had someone come out to me in less than 15 minutes! They were super nice. Renting a bike is the way to go while in Newport. Bikes were great and new. Staff was helpful and willing to chat with me about beach destinations on the island. Just went to Block Island and the bike rentals here are much less of a hassle with newer equipment. Returning went well once we got some of the young staffs attention. This is by far the best bike rental shop on the island run by a wonderful family who really gives back to the Nantucket community. The rental process is easy and the staff here really take the time to find a bike that fits and is comfortable. They also have a road side assistance number which you can call to have someone come and help you. The bikes themselves are really nice Cannondale which is very nice for a rental bike. This is the only place I would ever rent a bike from on island. read more

My bike was very tall, and very hard to get around. Asked for a smaller bike but they refused.

Ask for Meg - she was fantastic, though everyone in this bike shop is super friendly and easy to talk to. I went biking with my Dad and my Brother, she picked out bikes specific to all of us. Mine had a basket for my oversized camera, really smart, and since my Dad is 6'5 he got a special tall-version of a bike. Helmets come standard, which is also good since the trails start off in decent traffic. We did the Surfside trail - the beach and little burger shack at the end make that ride worth it, but it's fairly standard and not too exciting of a trail. Really nice ride anyway. read more

This bike shop is located fairly close to the dock where the ferries come in from the mainland. Unfortunately, my sense of direction made me walk all over the town before finding it. It was not a good sign for my first bike ride in 13 years. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were efficient and got us on and away on our bikes quickly The bikes were in very good shape and they provided helmets and locks. They also provided a VERY helpful map of the area. The only drawback is that my GF and I (not very avid bikers at all) asked for an easy path to a beach. The path they suggested was very hilly and a tough ride. I would definitely refer anybody looking for a bike on Nantucket to check these guys out. read more

Excellent service. They explained nicely how to find the right bike paths, wrapped our backpacks nicely on the back rack with a bungee cord which was awesome to use and store stuff. The basket in the front is awesome to leave your camera, water. Sunscreen. hours rental is 20$/ adult bike. Pay attention to their closing hours, which was 6 pm on a Friday. I've always been a Young's loyalist, but want to say their service has really held up as superlative - knowledgeable, quick, friendly, zero attitude. I was quoted a price for a Jeep rental that was different that was is advertised on-line. I was told that they are bumping the prices to Super-Peak even though I was coming during the peak season. The service and quality of the bike's here were top notch. The bikes were brand new Cannondale's and easily the nicest bike I have ever gotten from a rental shop. As a frequent rider at home I always wear a helmet for safety and dislike that sometimes when traveling rental shops don't offer a helmet, but Young's did which I appreciated and valued. I also appreciated that the shop stressed that if we ran into any trouble (e.g. flat tire) to call and they would come to our assistance immediately (fortunately we did not need this service). Finally, I should say that Young's was the bike shop that several locals and frequent visitors recommended to us. In fact those same people stressed not to be fooled and lured into the other bike shop located on either side of Young's. read more

As far as I'm concerned, this is the only bike shop on island. I have never and will never due business anywhere else.

The whole experience was extremely easy with a very courteous staff. The shop is just off the steamboat authority ferry pier. They did offer after hour returns and the bikes were in great shop. My wife's bike even had a basket which came in handy. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was that I did make a bicycle reservation a few days in advance and they had no record of it. That being said, they had more than enough bicycles to accommodate the crowds flowing into Nantucket. read more

Bikes in good condition. That's about the only good thing. They attempted to rush our young family through of six like a Taco Bell drive through. Little interest in our experience. After a cursory "orientation" they kicked us out. Upon return, no question about how our time went...only a shout across the store if I still had their bike lock keys (which I turned into another employee). It seemed that Nantucket Bike Shop was more friendly and interested in our overall experience. Planning to rent there next time. read more

Youngs was great, all of the staff was very kind and helpful and they provide you with a lock, bike, bungie and map of all the good bike routes on the island. Along with that the bikes you receive are superb, I used one of there hybrid bikes and had no problems and one of the cool things is the ability to change gears without having to be peddling witch means no hassling with your chain or your bike read more
