    Garlic & Bacon Fried Rice

If you need a good spot to cover many different types of food, this is your spot! The Garlic bacon fried rice is OUT OF THIS WORLD. It has such a good flavor and was filling. Others in our group got the Beef & Broccoli, a Sausage egg & cheese, and the Pad See Ew. We all enjoyed our meals throughly and had some leftover to take home. The atmosphere was very comfy and the service was great as well! If we lived in the area we would totally go back!

Service was great, immediately got seated to a booth & greater with a smile. The food came out fast! Hot! Seasoned & was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is clean & had a good flow of people. I'm so glad I got to get a chance to brunch here. I will definitely be coming back here!!

Wow!!! We usually don't go for restaurants that have multiple kinds of food, but this one really achieved that. Needless to say, we were very surprised with the food, which was high quality and delicious. I have extremely high standards for Asian foods, and we tried Thai and Chinese food,. It tasted so good. Service was good, as we came with kids and they gave them a free Mickey mouse pancake! 100% recommend.

Service was excellent! Lots of smiles to make one feel welcomed, attention provided throughout stay whereby they provided coffee refills and checked if everything was ok. On top of that the Loco Moco and mushroom burger were delicious!!! I would definitely be coming back.

First time coming here and the food was delicious. I ordered the lunch combo veggie delight with chicken. It came with tasty fried garlic on top! (1 star and was not too spicy) The soup was a good size and cane with 2 large wonton and green onions. The rice was so fluffy and the sauce was lovely. Staff was friendly and fast service. I highly recommend this place and I will come back again.

Good food all around. Ordered the Crispy Garlic Chicken and it had a ton of flavor. Wife ordered drunken noodles and those were really good as well.

"Chow mein" was excellent. Crispy and saucy!

I typically avoid restaurants that offer 3 separate types of cuisine (like Chinese, Thai, and American). But after hearing good things about Young's from many different friends with discerning palates, I decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed! The "Chow mein" listed on their entree menu is actually Hong Kong style pan-fried egg noodles (or "jeen mein" in Cantonese). My favorite!! And it was delicious -- served piping hot and extra crispy, as it should be, with a heaping pile of sauced up veggies and protein. On a Tuesday at noon, the restaurant was probably half full with plenty of street parking outside. It's a clean, spacious, and well-lit dining area with attentive staff. In fact, the service was so good that I think the gals offered to refill our soft drinks more than four times in just over an hour. But they were very polite and we didn't feel rushed. My only regret is not trying Young's sooner. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes!

What a unique spin on a diner: upon first look, there are American style booths. Then you realize the walls have sweeping landscapes and the sauce holder has sriracha, hoisin. Instead of trying to fuse cuisines, they offer both American food and thai chinese food. When the menu is pressed under the table glass, you know 2 things: 1. the restaurant is serious about its offerings 2. the menu doesn't change often because the dishes are classics. Because we went for Sunday brunch, we chose to go with American. Everything was done super well, from the eggs to the hashbrowns to the biscuit to the gravy. If anyone ever doubted Asians cooking good American diner food, they'll be proven wrong. Support this family-run business!

This is a great Asian Diner. Comfort food at reasonable prices and with generous portions. Pictures are after we already had served a portion to ourselves. The food tasted great. We had the daily special, a curry, with tofu and eggplant with chicken. The main entrees include the protein (extra for shrimp I think) but do not include rice. The eggplant was a little oily for us but it didn't detract from the flavor. Service was timely but we got there before the rush. They are short staffed according to a sign. The diner is clean, as were the bathrooms. Free street parking. We plan to return when in the area.

It was a bit awkward that he didn't lead the way. He immediately asked us if we wanted something to drink. We didn't have a chance to think about it so we just said "water ". He pointed to a water dispenser with lukewarm water and plastic cups. He gave us a few minutes then returned to take our order. The menu was small but it did have some healthy options. Not just typical bar food. It seemed like the perfect happy hour place! I had some questions about spiciness of one of the entrees. But he didn't seem to know much about feedback about it. I ordered it anyway. It was a little more spicy than I'm used to but it was delicious. He stopped by to check on us more than halfway through the meal. I asked him for some ice and he promptly brought two cups. The patio was lovely! Not much of a view as they had a big fence blocking it, but it still felt very open and breezy. Very intimate and nicely decorated. I would have given five stars had the waiter been a little more welcoming and there were a few more dishes offered. The menu was paper and a bit worn. It made me wonder how many had touched it. Perhaps a QR code would work for them if they don't wish to laminate their menu. Or just put specials on a blackboard. Not just drinks.

Knowing how viral spots can get, we arrived early at 4:50 since they were listed to open at 5. By 5:30, no one had shown up. We checked their Instagram and found comments from other people who had the same experience from other days: showing up at opening time only to find the doors still closed. The owner had replied to one of those comments saying, "Life does unfortunately get in the way of being able to open right at 5 pm..." So apparently this happens somewhat regularly. Right as we were about to give up, someone finally pulled up and unlocked the place. We rolled down our window and he told us we needed to park somewhere else. That's fine. We waited a few minutes to let him get settled before walking in. There was no "thanks for waiting" or any acknowledgment at all. When we asked if they were serving food, he told us the sandwich guy "should be here around 6:30 or so," and suggested we grab a burger next door if we were really hungry. Honestly, that was such a letdown. We'd waited all day to eat, driven 50 minutes from Tacoma in the pouring rain, and were so eager to try their food, not the burger spot next door. We debated leaving but decided to make the best of it. We grabbed burgers next door, came back, and ordered cocktails. The drinks were fine, and the space itself is genuinely awesome, great vibe, super fun décor, and a lot of character. I mean they even play scary movies on a projector. Like, it's awesome. But the experience left us feeling more like an inconvenience than valued customers. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, the lack of communication and hospitality overshadowed everything else.

Dinner from late 2025 Customers seem to have a love-hate…read morerelationship with Tomo, an Asian fusion restaurant, in White Center. Originally opened as a high-end restaurant with tasting menu only, the restaurant has since evolved to an la carte (optional family set), with a mix of Asian fusion and adapting to moderate-price offerings with larger portions. The owner/chef has a worthy pedigree, having worked at Canlis; Brady Ishiwata Williams presents a menu leveraging recipes from his Japanese grandmother with influences of local ingredients and other Asian flavors. The results are flavorful (occasionally salty), imaginative, and visually pleasing. The staff is very kind and helpful with menu explanations. The restaurant ambiance is streamlined modern. The Food: Klingemann Farms Pork Rib Chop, $48 - 4 Stars Impeccably covered in a tamarind glaze and served with broccolini, the pork rib chop is served slice with slices of butter lettuce for wrapping. Despite being slightly salty, it was a brilliantly prepared dish. Sablefish, $46 - 4 Stars The sablefish is seared and served with manila clams and kale. This is a 'brothy' dish, and I have to say I wanted to drink the broth. Alas, it was a touch too salty to literally drink the broth. The combination of clams on fish is unusual; they work well together. The kale hiding under the fish soaked up all the broth wonderfully. Tomo Caesar, $18 - 4 Stars Their signature salad adapts flavors of the chefs' Japanese side with bonito dressing and furikake. Lightly dressed and delicate in flavor, it is my kind of salad. Dry-Aged Steam Burger, $5 - 4.5 Stars This humble steam burger is their most popular dish, a bargain at $5. Served with caramelized onion and American cheese, it was surprisingly good, and I am not a burger fan. When we asked if we can order more (nearly closing time), the server winked at us and gifted us two more. Thank you! Albacore Taraki, $26 - 3.5 Stars Albacore slices are served in a ponzu and yuzu dressing. Delicate and delicious (but spendy for albacore). Chawanmushi, $16 - 2.5 Stars Their Japanese egg custard is served with sweet corn, enoki, and brown rice vinegar. While I love a good chawanmushi, the high-end variants all include seafood. The $16 price is very high for its ingredients. This restaurant has a 22% included service charge and no additional gratuity is requested. For the level of service we received, the 22% is legit.

First, I'll start with the lens I am rating this from. I have eaten at The French Laundry,…read moreSingleThread, La Toque, Commis, Eleven Madison, and other popular fine dining establishments. I say this to explain that my rating comes from the lens of fine dining, especially when a place has three recommendations. I was highly disappointed when I came here. The day I visited with two colleagues was: 6/18 at 5:00 PM My rating breakdown: - 1 star: Ambiance - 1 star: Food - 1 star: Experience (including service) - 1 star: Greeting (the "wow factor") - 1 star: Wine list / bar Ambiance (1 star) The ambiance was great: dim lighting, with a mix of mid-century design evolving into a postmodern theme. The shotgun style walkway with an open kitchen was very clean and organized. There was a great waiting area for a small restaurant. Definitely a plus to the designer. Greeting (-1 star) When first entering the restaurant, it felt almost misplaced. Visiting here, I could tell the area is undergoing some gentrification. That was fine, but when I entered, the host was highly rude to me and my guests, very short and dismissive. It gave the impression of, "What do you want? It doesn't look like you belong here." I asked for the menu to see what they had to offer because nothing was presented in the window. We decided to continue because they have little competition in the area, so why not? As we were seated, the server came around and really changed our decision to leave. He was very pleasant, respectful, and when we asked about things to do in the area, he answered our questions. Please recruit more staff like him. He was very knowledgeable about the menu items and explained the flavors well enough that I could imagine how the dishes would taste. We ordered the majority of the sides and two drinks. Bar ( 1 star) I ordered the Miss Knick at Night, and it was a beautifully crafted drink. A plus for the bartender saying hello and goodbye -- I forgot to add that. Wine list was modest for a small restaurant had some unique picks. Food (-1 star) The food we ordered: Tomo Caesar This was more of a Southwestern style salad: mildly dressed, finely shaved cheese (maybe Parmesan), toasted corn, and some other toppings. It wasn't really a crowd pleaser. The salad was bitter and barely dressed enough to bring out the flavors. Crab Fried Rice This received mixed reviews. Some people may like it, some may not. For me, it was too rich. I'll leave it there because others may enjoy it, try it for yourself. 1/2 Dozen Steam Burgers Just cheese, a Hawaiian bun, dry-aged beef, and onion. This felt more like a gastropub item than something that fit into the Asian fusion category. We just didn't understand how it connected to the overall concept. Fried Chicken Finally, the fried chicken... I liked it. However, for others, it felt drenched in grease, which I understood. For an elevated restaurant, you're not expecting to order gastropub-style food. I was going to order dessert, which I almost always do, but I decided not to. I couldn't handle another surprise. I also didn't appreciate that we didn't receive water service at this caliber of restaurant. Maybe it was just the server, but those are basics of fine dining that need attention. Experience (-1 star) When we received the check, we really didn't appreciate the 22% service charge. I have paid more before, but for this experience especially with the host interaction and overall service, it did not feel worth 22%. We didn't really take a journey through the dishes. There was no clear theme connecting them, so I didn't understand what we were eating or why at that price point. Maybe the chef understands the vision and the execution just missed the mark, or maybe the training needs improvement. Either way, something was missing. Would I recommend it? No. Would I come back? Never. I should have just driven to the city and taken my friends to How to Cook a Wolf. Final rating: 2/5

That's the way it is. We hoped this would be our new holiday go-to. We loved the idea of a week-long menu during holidays. We took advantage of the Irish St. Patrick's Day menu, and we were excited to go back for the Easter menu. The Easter menu was also shown on their website as being a week long - so that's three more days from the day we went. When we got there, we spent a few minutes being discombobulated because we couldn't find any of the Easter menu items besides the pancakes (photo) and the drinks menu. In addition, the staff was being a big cagey about it. The menu was still featured on the website but turns out, we were eventually told, that they ran out of the ingredients for most of the items (which would be ham and pork, I guess) and the menu was shut down except for the drinks and the pancakes (nobody mentioned the pancakes and they weren't named in an Eastery way). So, folks, if you offer a week-long menu for one of the biggest holidays of the year, please get enough inventory. We know times are tough, but you did decide to do this and presumably know better after being open since 1979. Please take the holiday menu down from your website if it's not applicable anymore. Please put "subject to availability" on your flyer online if it's possible you will run out of inventory. Please be forthcoming and cheerful and apologetic that you don't have the holiday menu anymore, not defensive. Please tell your entire staff that you aren't serving it anymore. Non-wait staff. Why do you ask us what we want to drink, then tell us we'll have to ask our server? Just bring us water and be done with it. Wait staff. You seem like you enjoy your job, or used to, but are over-worked. That's too bad. We hope things get better. So, this will probably not be our go-to holiday restaurant after all.
