Heading home to Maryland, need a quick lunch stop for takeout. I see Belly's Deli with good Yelp! ratings and it's just around the corner from the town center. Easy parking across the street. The inside looks great, friendly, inviting. Good menu, good specials. I see a Turkey Pesto Melt sandwich special, looks great but I'm not a meat eater. I ask if I can get a Tuna Melt sandwich, answer: 'of course yes!' Wow! I often get the opposite answer elsewhere. And so friendly! So enthusiastic! On sourdough bread! With Vermont cheddar cheese! Counter person asks would I like red onion, microgreens, avocado? I answer: Yes! All of the above! Spouse says 'Same!' A short wait later, I emerge with two sandwiches and extra napkins because I know from long experience this will be messy. We tuck in. Delicious! Bread is fresh and perfectly grilled! The toppings add terrific flavor, color, and crunchy texture. Tuna is primo quality, not the cheap stuff, and definitely not a substance you gotta genetically test to find the tuna content. How could this bundle of deliciousness not be on the regular menu? My only suggestion: tuna was delicious and good quality, but a bit heavy on the liquid (mayo, maybe lemon?) so it was pretty drippy. But lip-smacking good! 5's across the board for location, service, atmosphere, food, and value. We will definitely return! We'll done Deli Belly! My belly was happy!

Old fashioned deli with delicious sandwiches. Staff was courteous, prices fair. A taste of old Vermont.

Typical "I love VT" t shirts and stuffies in the window, $400 syrup, and artsy cards and candles etc. Making our way to the back was a small nook of seats and tables and a breakfast/sandwich/bagel menu. To say we were skeptical was an understatement. My son ordered a Southwestern steak and egg sandwich on a rainbow bagel. I had a dill pickle chicken salad sandwich on an everything bagel. Add in a coffee, a hot chocolate, two cans of Diet Coke (and a small cheesecake round for my son) and we were all set. Menu was way more reasonably priced than we expected. Average bagel sandwich (which they fill amply) was roughly $10. All of the fillings were very good. Well seasoned. Creative. Again, exceeded our initial expectations. Even the bagels were surprisingly good. Please note I grew up in NJ so a bagel is essentially unattainable to me north of the Tappanzee Bridge. I was expecting "airport quality," however, it was not half bad. Chewy and tasty for the area. Service left me with two very distinct feelings. 1) the people were AWESOME. Friendly, attentive, seemingly happy to be at work (a rarity). But... 2) there were 6 total customers in the store (some simply reading books) and yet it took 16 minutes for our coffee and hot chocolate and roughly 30 for the sandwiches. Was so weird to experience the quiet of the store - yet the ticket time and wait of a bustling morning at a deli. Oh well. Was a pleasant place to be. Will likely find a different place next week following our upcoming appointment. But was not mad at the experience.

He saw the cashier was busy but had to point out to me he doesn't get slices, he just cooks. Bull crap. I've gone there for the last five years since I've been home and had my slices given out by the cooks more than the cashier. This was also right after he helped the woman in front of me who I was with. Apparently team work, respect for fellow coworkers, and customer service are not in this sh!t bird's wheelhouse. If you hate helping people then go to the back and wash dishes. Or just kill yourself and do the town a favor. He eventually decided to work and do his job but went out of his way to be rude and mouthy while doing it. Pathetic excuse for pizza. More than half the time it sucks which is why I hadn't been there in a while. Save your money and hassle and go to Bennington Pizza House down the road. If this place burned down I would declare it a new holiday in Bennington. Judging by the retarded malcontents they hire, they'll probably do it themselves by accident. Horrible service and horrible pizza more than half the time. Second worst calzone I've ever had. Better cheeseburgers for the money at the Stewart's. Every entree I've had there was overpriced and crap. Can't believe this place is in business. Surviving by the patronage of hicks that don't know any better.
