I had this company come re-build my deck, from wood into the plastic composite (Trex) that holds up much longer in our hot LA summers, and when getting hit by my sprinklers. The crew was fantastic, professional, on time, and affordable (even though the Trex material itself is expensive, but there's not much you can do about that). They presented me with multiple color options, and did exactly what I wanted them to, which was to create an exact reproduction of my existing deck, just with the new material. Matt installed a beautiful redwood deck to replace our old large rotting wood deck. His crew led by Angel was amazing, could not have asked for more. They were as quiet as one can be building a deck, respectful and kept things very clean. We have had several construction projects done on our house and was very impressed with this crew in particular. Matt was incredibly responsive throughout the estimation and decision process and provided the best guidance for options for our deck. We went back and forth on wood options, railing, etc. until we made our final decisions some 1-2 months later. Angel and his crew are phenomenal. My husband wanted a curved redwood deck. But wood doesn't curve. What the crew did was fascinating to watch and we now have a stunning rounded wood deck with wraparound steps. Matt and John were great at communication the whole way. We needed a change and they responded quickly and charged us a measly $100 more. The whole price was more than fair, especially after seeing the work that went into getting the deck to curve. An absolutely delightful experience and wonderful craftsmanship! The team at YourDeckBuilder did a terrific job from the early planning and design phase through final deck completion. Even had a few minor follow-up items that they proactively scheduled with us and completed. Our project included one 21' x 14' redwood deck with pergola as well as approximately 90' of wood and cable fencing. Matt helped us through design and cost options, the overall project process, and timelines. We looked at several deck providers, and YourDeckBuilder was very competitive and had some of the best crafted decks that we reviewed. During the fabrication and installation process, Gabor and Ralph were prompt, courteous, and very hard working craftsman daily. Also appreciated their communication and clarity on the the current week events and future activities. They were very collaborative in their approach and gave us ample advance notice to make decisions (deck coloring, seating arrangements, pergola slat spacing, etc) which made the process very comfortable and less stressful for us. Matt and John gave us a good rate, and it seemed like they were pretty thorough when they drew up the contract. Angel and the team was great and friendly and started a few weeks early. During the project, some things came up that made me concerned about water intrusion into the house, but it wasn't part of the contract and work proceeded so quickly it wasn't addressed and John assured us it would be fine. I would have hoped that for serious things of this nature we could have paused and done a better job. We were in the process of moving, and unable to inspect the final work, we wrangled a home inspector/engineer to sign off. This delayed the final payment by a week, at which point we received some extremely unprofessionally threatening emails which were extremely unfortunate. Sure enough, the inspector noted several water intrusion issues which were too difficult to resolve. In short, we recommend ensuring to always ask for an inspection in the contract so that Matt and John don't object to this step, whether private or by the city, and ask that any water intrusion issues be addressed in the contract. read more

Matt and John were great to work with - they were prompt, professional, and worked with our design to create the deck that we envisioned. Angel and his assistant built the deck - they arrived early, made sure we had input along the way of developing the deck, always left the work site clean and orderly, and made minor adjustments along the way as we talked through the design. Angel has a great design-eye and built a beautiful deck with a pergola, stairs, railings, and two seating/storage benches all within our original budget. They used beautiful redwood that was stained (natural) for all components of the deck. Matt, John, and Angel were a pleasure to work with and we will definitely hire them again for our future needs. To be fair, this review is not for work done as I was not able to get to that point with them. Submitted a request about a week ago with a rough rendering along with dimensions to give a sense of what I was looking for in an effort to see what an approximate cost might look like. Finally got a response with a polite outline of what I could expect to pay (which was very helpful). I was given two example options one for roughly $10K and one for roughly $20K. When I responded with more details and asked if anything was in between those two options as my expectation was something in the middle of those figures, he responded with some comments about the design of the rendering I provided and then somewhat abruptly said my price range was too low for them and that I should look elsewhere for this project. Huh? No explanation of other options or why my range, which was right in the middle of the two options he provided, was suddenly too low for him to continue this dialogue. He was polite about it, but I thought it was a weird way to blow me off. Maybe they have much bigger projects to prioritize and my small project was not worth their time. I'm looking for a 325sq ft - 350sq ft elevated deck with stairs, so I thought $15K was an appropriate range depending on materials and even asked if that was way off. I guess it is for them (except for their $10K option). So, I will look elsewhere. read more

A+ -- We just finished our job with Matt (owner), John (job manager), Angel (foreman, master builder) and crew - and couldn't be happier with the final result and service provided. Our job was on the smaller side, but consisted of total deck demo and rebuild. We were slotted into the schedule ahead of time, the job was completed quickly but with care and precision. I had been thinking about this job for some time - knew our deck would have to be replaced, knew what issues I needed addressed and wanted fixed. We also had a few quirky additions, to include removable panels in order to access/service our Jacuzzi and a short divider to offer separation from an adjacent grill. Angel worked with me to create the final product I envisioned. John, too, was attentive and courteous, offered options for us as we moved forward and always quickly responded to my queries. We love our new deck! This is - hands down - the best contractor experience in LA we have had. I echo other positive comments here...
