Yuca Bar has been around for ages and it's easy to see why. It's been consistently delicious over the years, providing great quality food, super friendly service, and a nice ambiance that has a bit of old-school East Village left to it. We live a block away and, admittedly, hadn't been for a long time, but it was so nice tonight that I'm reminded why I always liked it, and plan to go back more often. The red sangria is delicious - I used to have their secret recipe - it has a real kick to it! Our niece had the fish tacos and said they were great, and my husband had the paella and it was really delicious. For example, the calamari had been grilled, giving them real charred flavor and not just limp rubber rings - it was excellent. And the service couldn't have been nicer. It was fairly busy but not crowded, and the mood was just right for a Sunday night meal. An old standby that has aged very well, it's an asset to have Yuca Bar in our neighborhood. read more

looooooooove the michelada here. savoury, salty, spicy. just the right amount of mix to beer ratio that i'll likely be back for soon. caprinhas were enjoyed by my group, and is actually the strongest drink on the happy hour menu. margs taste like juice! although i warn the passion fruit marg is pretty skewed on the sour side. great service on a quieter sunday evening. we were able to be table seated because it wasn't on a busy day. super vibe. cool, upbeat, and just a great way to take the edge off the weekend. read more

I came here last night with a group of 8 & overall we had a good time! To start off I got a classic Margarita. It wasn't bad. I do like that they use Cazadores instead of house. We got the fried calamari which was amazing, chicken empanadas, and the chicken tacos also good. We of course had to try the yuca fries lol they were okay not your typical yuca fries. Note they don't have vegetarian options. They gave us a free shot at the end since we were celebrating a birthday, which was so sweet. It was a fruity type of drink. The place itself gets pretty packed but the staff was very accommodating in adding chairs for those who joined us. They played good music old reggeton, Bad Bunny, Karol G, etc. At 8:30 they remove all the tables and open up the dance floor. The kitchen closes at 8. I also noticed they do a $20 cover charge after a certain time beware of that. Get there early so you don't have to pay that. Overall there's good food & music at this place would recommend if you need something easy & chill with little frills. read more

I have been to this place twice now. Both times the wait staff has been super friendly and the food has been delicious. They have drink specials and the drinks are always tasty. Both times I have had sangria but people I have gone with have had margaritas and specialty cocktails. The portions are a good size and everything is pretty shareable. They have indoor and outdoor seating and usually not a very long wait. read more

I hate leaving a subpar review. This isn't about anything else but what I ate-the moqueca, the brazilian seafood stew. It tasted very muddled and unpleasant in the way you don't want a stew to taste . I really couldn't eat more than a few bites and that upset me because I really wanted to like it! I would definitely try this dish somewhere else as I don't want this experience to color my view on this important dish. I also do think the dishes are a bit pricey but it makes sense with the location I guess read more

It really is just not that good. The paella was very mid. Thr tacos were also mid. The octopus was among the worst I have had. It was not prepared well. Everything was just very normal and nothing good or bad ( other than the octopus). I can not emphasize this enough: Do not order rhe octupos. It is flavorles. Tastes like fish. And the sauce tastes like straight up sugar. It is also extremely dry. The tacos were very very standard. Do yourself a favor and get cheaper better tacos elsewhere. The paella was probably the worst or the second worst Paella I have ever had. To be fair tho, I have really like pther Paellas that I have had before and this was not too bad. I just did not enjoy it as much. There was no crispy rice in the buttom. It was a mess and all the flscors kind of bleed into each other. It was also very watery. read more

For being able to seat 7 people at a cramp bar, I have to give them props for making it work. I had a pretty fantastic time! Walk ins only. The vibes was popping on a weekend night, with loud music and parties from one end of the circle-like interior layout to the other. The workers were efficient and friendly in seating us despite how busy it was. The area they gave us was nicely private and enclosed. I ordered the Churrasco, Quesadilla de Churrasco, and a Frozen Mango Margarita. They have a happy hour special every day (including weekends!) from 12PM - 8PM. Original margaritas are $9 and flavors are an extra buck. The Frozen Mango Margarita ($10), although hard to drink at first given the fat icy chunks, was so so yummy and fruity. I always love when I can taste the mango flavor that is equally as strong as the alcohol. The Quesadilla de Churrasco, or Steak Quesadilla ($15), was disappointing to me. I don't recommend getting given the small portion and the lack of cheese. I'm glad I didn't waste a Lactaid pill on this! The Churrasco ($29), on the other hand, was AMAZING. I took one bite, and I fell in love. That grilled skirt steak was perfection, and they actually gave me a true medium rare! Easy to cut, easy to chew, and with the slight sourness of the chimichurri sauce? Perfection! Plus, those beautiful golden baked yuca fries offered an even heartier and sweet embellish to the classy meal. They also gave us a fat portion of Chips w/ Guac & Salsa on the house. Everyone else's food looked amazing and the staff was fast and wonderful. Totally come here for fun vibes and a comforting night (or brunch!) out. read more

I've always wanted to try this spot for Happy Hour and so glad I did!! If I remember correctly, it was $8 drinks and there were so many flavors. Loved the fact that I could choose to have it frozen or regular, so good for anyone who wants to be by the beach. HH is everyday from 6-8 (I think)!! Food, we ordered the chicken quesadilla which was very good!! It was stuffed with lots of meat (not complaining), and was very juicy. The seafood paella could have more flavor, I felt that it was very bland. Guac&pico was FRESH, but nothing too special. The place is a mix of very authentic South American cuisine. My favorite dishes are the Arepas, Huevos Rancheros, and Benedict. Prices are also pretty fair and they offer bottomless brunch! My biggest complement - they are dog friendly!! Note: this place is a bar at night with a very young crowd so keep that in mind. They play great Spanish music and usually have a $10 cover. read more

Pleasantly surprised. Walk by this place all the time, never gave it a second thought. We were looking for a place that had a late happy hour and after googling random places, we decided on this one. The margaritas are not great, had to send mine back, but the sangria was excellent. The food was delicious, never had a veggie burger from a Mexican restaurant before, but it was really good. This place is a nice stable restaurant in the Lower East Side. They are usually always busy. Around 9pm they shut down the restaurant, remove the tables, and it becomes a Latin discotheque. We stayed for a little while, then realize it wasn't really our science during the discotheque. Ive been craving their veggie burger since I left. Can't wait to eat there again. read more
