The steak was tender, juicy, and had a flavor I honestly hadn't experienced in a taco before. It had this deep, savory, smoky taste that felt completely different from the tacos I'm used to getting in Chicago. The meat itself was so well seasoned that it could easily stand on its own. The freshness from the pico balanced the richness of the steak, while the salsa brought a nice kick that stayed with you after every bite. Simple, but so much flavor packed into each taco. The meat is well seasoned and, being authentic, it is allowed to be the prominent ingredient. I would similarly describe the chicken and even the beef tongue tacos. What I loved the most, however, was the beef head taco. Immense and incredible flavor beefy flavor, not to mention that moat restaurants wouldn't dare having it on the menu. By far the best taco I've ever had. If I get the chance to visit La Taqueria again that's all I want to eat. Unfortunately there were also two items that I found to be disappointing. One was the quesadilla. Even though the chicken is good it was very greasy. The other was the pork taco. Its customer service come out pretty decent and promising. Would love to come back only for one thing, deep fried grasshoppers. For over 16 years, La Oaxaqueña had a unique variety of protein choices, from ostrich to venison which were game meats. Grasshoppers are the only bug protein they bring back once again. After 4 years, they're here to stay while they're available, just like Donaji. I love the chewy texture of the exoskeleton. I have one soft taco for tonight. Next time, I'll come back for a pair.
