Hit or miss type of place. It's one of the few taqueria options in the area and usually a place where the food is decently enjoyable most of the time, sometimes surprisingly great or surprisingly awful. My most recent patronage somehow they produced one of the worst driest burritos I've ever had twice. Ordered a super burrito which the cook made as regular burrito & then when brought to their attention that they didn't make the burrito as ordered they again made the incorrect order. They have lots of menu options including hamburgers & sandwiches which you're not likely to be disappointed with or overly impressed by. The hours make it a more of lunch option than anything else. Overall one of the few places that most consistently is either decent to good but that also means when its not decent it's bad to very bad. As a resident in the neighborhood I appreciate them being there more than not & would recommend them but I'd be surprised if who recommended to was really impressed and not so surprised if they had a slightly bad experience. read more

One of the decent value lunch spots in the area. It was my first time trying the carne asada super burrito (meat, cheese, beans either black or refried, rice, guac, sour cream, onions and cilantro) for $14 before tax and stuff. It was not busy on a Wednesday around 11am either which was nice. Service was friendly and you get the option of mild or spicy hot sauce. The hot sauce was fantastic but do wish I had more of it as I blew through my container mid-burrito. Not much else I can say other than this is a solid taqueria if you need a Mexican fix! read more

I'm not going to pretend like there are a bunch of good Mexican options in this area. Taqueria Mana will get the job done. What ever taqueria cravings you have this place can probably help hold you over. Is it the best in the city? No. But the menu is extensive and you can probably find any of your favorites. It's not overly expensive and it's pretty good. I got two tacos, the Mana burger and a horchata. All very solid. You can eat your fill of greasy Mexican food for a reasonable price and then take a fat nap. I will say the green salsa was the worst I've ever had. But look, I'm no expert. The food is very good, special requests are accommodated, and I always leave with a smile. Prices are very fair for SF. The review I have is unfortunately not a positive one. My Sister-in-law used to regularly eat there, but not since she has come home from the hospital because she had to be treated for ecoli. She ordered the chicken nachos and then she immediately started to it feel sick after eating them. She had to be taken to the emergency room that night and the hospital kept her for 3 days. My previous visit to Taqueria Mana was about 7 years ago...maybe even 8. Back then I ordered a super carne asada burrito and, to this day, I remember how terrible the meat was. I had to pick a piece of gristle out of nearly every mouthful. Which explains why I hadn't been back in all these years. I found myself walking past Mana at lunchtime today and on a whim decided to give it another shot. I was encouraged by the much nicer interior; they had really spruced up the place from what I remember. Would the food be better as well? I ordered the same burrito and I can say that there has been an improvement in at least the texture of the meat. It was much more tender. Unfortunately, though, I detected an unwelcomed hint of gaminess. Granted, it wasn't bad enough to keep me from eating the whole thing! Half Carne Asada, Half Grilled Chicken. placed the order and the delivery was so close to the opening time, I wanted to make sure that they could arrive on time for lunch at12:00 p.m. To be honest, I was worried and then when my boss asked to expedite the lunch. I received a call from Taqueria Mana to confirm my order and was able to bump up the delivery even though they open at 11:00 a.m. and the order window was 11:45 a.m. It was amazing how fast they were. They delivered two bags of burritos and a huge tray of chips and pint sized salsa tubs. All the usual faves like burritos, tacos, and quesadillas but they also have more homey classics like sopes and mole poblano. Also burgers and salads plus a whole host of entree plates. My lunch go-to is a baby burrito and I find it to be right-sized for a satisfying lunch that doesn't weigh you down. Lots of meat options from your regular carne asada and carnitas to not so common barbacoa and lengua. Breakfast burritos are also super welcomed on slightly hungover mornings. Folks are friendly here and try to get you in and out quickly. Major plus that they take cards too. For a cheap lunch by Union Square, Taqueria Mana is modest looking and slightly off the beaten path, but more than handles itself with it's wide menu. read more

Get some salsa habanera for the torta. I ate sopes too, before a homeless man asked me for my leftovers. I had this for lunch and dinner. I love lengua. It's better than barbacoa or chicken. I liked watching Spanish PBS and I never had to clean a table. I love the red sea mural but some Asian office worker was eating in front of it. I recommend this if you have Mexican cravings in Chinatown or Nob Hill. My boyfriend loved the Mexican Coca Cola. The carnitas burrito is okay but try the chimichangas! The strawberry shake is good. The workers are friendly. They top of the rice drink with a lot of cinnamon because it's a little watery. You have a choice of mayo or sour cream on the tortas. read more

I've stopped in here several times in the past, as it is near my dentist's office at 450 Sutter. The burritos here are normally pretty good, however I had a very bad experience this past Friday. After my dentist appointment, I stopped in to order 2 burritos to go. I ordered a Beef and a Chicken Mole. Ordering the Mole burrito, which I've had here before, was a BIG MISTAKE. The beef burrito was very good. I put the mole burrito in the fridge and ate half of it on Saturday for lunch. Several hours later, I knew I'd been poisoned. I'm terribly disappointed in this restaurant for serving BAD food. The laziness and disregard for serving quality food in inexcusable. I received a terrible night of food poisoning from Taqueria Mana and I'll never go back again. I wish I could have written a positive review, but the Owner of this place needs to re-focus on QUALITY. I'm in love with this place. I remember a burrito I ordered from here 8 years ago and was excited to go back. This time I ordered a burrito mojado with shredded chicken. It's huge. This size of a really fat grown-man's foot. No burrito compares to this thing in size. It comes smothered in enchilada sauce, guacamole, and cheese with pick de Gallo sprinkles on top. I also ordered the carne asada nachos, I was not expecting them to be great, but I dare say I loved them more than my burrito. The chips in the nachos were super good and the carne was a better quality than I expected and you get a ton of meat relative to the size of your nachos. I walked in to order dinner for takeout. I was treated very kindly by the gentleman who took my order and the one who made it. They gave me a great quality to-go bag. The price point is amazing considering how much food you get.
