    Sashimi course, simple yet effective

Excellent, traditional, serene omakase experience. I really enjoyed the relaxed, more wooden, zen-like experience where one can truly enjoy the pacing, craft, rice, and fish. This was some of my favorite rice on my trip and on the strip and they showed me how they polish the rice in house which is a great treat and wonder to behold the artisanal qualities. Yui is more classic Edomae-style omakase IME. It's not as over-the-top for better or for worse as some omakase spots in Vegas, and I appreciate that because it could be too much otherwise. I loved that they polish their rice in house, that they make their own sake (quite good and refreshing!), and the chef listened to me - as I was mentioning how I enjoy abalone (rare on the East Coast to see), and he comped it on the house instead of the usual sweet desserts which I do not like. Very kind and thoughtful! Price is a touch lower than some of the eye-watering restaurants on the strip. Excellent nori - straight from Japan and perfectly crisp and tasty. I would've appreciated more variety in stoneware and porcelain but that's part of the point - Yuri is a bit more serene, stable, and balanced. :)

Amazing Omakase - a bit pricy but I think the quality speaks for itself and was well worth it! I'll admit I was a little hesitant when we got dropped off in a dark alley parking lot. But once we got in, we were greeted by friendly staff and sat in a nice private room for our 6 person party. I have nothing but praise for everything on the Omakase tasting with sake pairing. The stars of the show for me were wagu (perfectly made and buttery - try one with and one without the sauce for different experiences) and the tuna tartare with caviar in a tin can. If I can eat tin cans like that everyday for the rest of my life, I'd be a happy girl! My only complaint is the hand roll really fell flat after all the amazing courses - but I suppose it's a good way to wind down.

In A Nutshell: -Yui Edomae Sushi was such a great find! -Vegas has so many great sushi restaurants & Yui is definitely at or near the TOP of the list. -Don't let the non-descript strip mall fool you. -Once you're inside you are instantly transported to Japan. -The small size of the restaurant w/ it modern, minimal design sets the right mood for a culinary art journey of 95% imported cuts from Japan. -This is a place where you celebrate w/ someone who loves sushi/sashimi & rare seafood. -They have 3 omakase menus ranging from $190+. -The Gensen menu was a really good choice, its the $190 menu per person. -The variety of dishes were profound & I left very joyful + stuffed. -The sushi chef always had a smile in his face & he took great pride in serving us. Overall, this is a very, very good sushi restaurant that is expensive but totally worth the money. Check out my photos!!

Location: off strip in standalone building next to Shanghai Plaza. Has its own parking out front. Ambiance: Quiet elegance, Japanese minimalist style. Food: Omakase only (two options, plus a sake pairing option). Both have same number of items, just different fish and additional waygu dish. We ordered one of each so we can try all the items. Traditional edomae sushi, simple presentation featuring the fish. No excessively strong sauce or flavors. The fish is the star here. Solid value for the quality and quantity of fish. We enjoyed the meal and will be back.

Delicious sushi. Very fresh fish and the rice is amazing. My only bone to pick is the pieces are too small and I leave hungry after spending like $600 with alcohol for my husband and I. This is hubs' favorite sushi restaurant in America. I can see why but I can't justify paying that much and still be hungry. Everything we had from the omakase was delicious. The baby crab was one of my favorites. I think I can skip their drinks in general. They were good but add up too much and too quick.

Hmm damn.... I gotta find a way to come back! Entire experience was 5 stars. This place is here to make you feel comfortable, you are truly their guest. You can film, do photos, they don't care. They just want you to have a great time! We picked the top level omakase experience UMAMI all the way The top tasting item for me: A5 bite size pieces, melts in your mouth beef OhTORO VERY fatty tuna Abalone Tuna and caviar!! Everything was good....

Love Love Love how focused the team is on the craft and exacting standards of the experience. Perfect for an intimate celebration for a couple or culinary exploration for advanced diners. Highly recommend you go all in with supreme pairings as the quality of the products and their relationships to each other was worth the spend.

Let me start off by saying Yui Edomae did not disappoint! There's been a few mixed reviews lately but our experience was on point; food, service and drinks. We were the only ones seated at the sushi bar so we had the undivided attention of chef Kaz to ourselves. We ordered the Kansha omakase; one with sake pairing. As with most sushi restaurants, each dish was described as it was served. The tempo of which it was served was just right. The appetizer included wagyu tartare with quail egg, simmered bluefin and snow crab meat. That was followed by a clear owan soup then a sashimi sampler. The grilled plate included abalone and wagyu. Eleven types of nigiri followed that had shiokko yellowtail, otoro, maaji, ikura, uni, toro with caviar and anago. I was really surprised with the quality of the rice. Chef Kaz said it was koshihikari from Niigata. This was one of the best rice I've had at any sushi restaurant. I should have asked for the brand. For dessert we had a choice of anmitsu or cheesecake with lychee sorbet. The price is not cheap but considering the quality of the food, sake and service it was worth every penny. I would recommend Yui Edomae and will be back.

Is there any such thing as a perfect meal? If you are looking for an authentic Japanese meal with plenty of variety and small portions, this is the place. We opted for the tasting menu, which included a primer when each course was served. The chef's attention to detail was present in every dish - no small feat for our party of 7. The quality of the fish is outstanding. I even ate my uni (which I normally pass on!).

As soon as we paid for the check, the service ended as well. We couldn't even get tea anymore and the check was more than $1000 for 3 of us. The food was really average, bad for $$$$$ Omakase. The sashimi was tiny and the toro was..... The caviar dish was rice at the bottom, salmon roe in the middle (tiny salted ikura, not impressive ) Nothing was amazing or impressive. Only thing I will remember is how bad the service was.

Really disappointed with our visit to Yui Edomae Sushi. It was the most expensive dinner and probably the worst part was expecting to pay $68/pp for the nigiri tasting menu but arrived to a revised menu with the lowest option being $180. This change was not even indicated on their website. We still gave the omakase a chance but we really should have walked out. Probably the best thing about this restaurant was that they were responsive for booking a reservation via email. For the price the meal was below average, there were too many bad dishes and sushi pieces to justify coming here again. The highlights for me were the wagyu skewer, uni, and kamashita. The rest of the menu was just bad. No point in using fresh fish flown in from Japan if it's going to be either over cooked and dry or flavorless and bland as a nigiri course. I wish I could say positive things about the service but our server didn't refill our drinks and spoke so fast when explaining our courses we could not understand one word.

Still amazing! Second time here, the first was about five years ago. It is expensive, just get that out of the way. But the food is the best sushi I have ever had, period. The variety of fish and food that I would otherwise never get to try makes this a truly special experience. We sat at the sushi bar, and the personal service was great. The place is set up to truly highlight the amazing food. There is nothing flashy, just a simple traditional restaurant with the best sushi in town. I can't emphasize how good the food is! So good!

Really amazing sushi experience with ability to upgrade or downgrade the experience. Service was attentive and informative. Beverage pairing was available with an up-charge. The sushi experience was great and the fish was flown fresh from Japan ! I wish I was seated at the counter for a more engaged experience but even without being physically proximal to the chef , the dinner was great and fun ! I had not tasted such amazing flavor profile and variety before. This was great evening despite an unassuming location.

Fortunately, the wait was only about 10 minutes, which was surprisingly quick. I ordered the soft-shell crab, baked green mussels, and BBQ ribs with steamed rice. My son ordered the yoshu ramen and fried rice. The food came out fairly quickly, but I noticed that the baked mussels never arrived. When I asked our waitress about it, she said the kitchen was backed up. However, after waiting more than 30 minutes and already finishing the rest of our meal, it felt like the order may have simply been forgotten. What disappointed me most was the lack of an apology. The waitress even asked if I still wanted the mussels at that point. I was ready to cancel the order, but Kyo stepped in and tried to make things right. Thanks to his efforts, the mussels arrived about 10 minutes later. Unfortunately, when the mussels finally arrived, I was disappointed again. They were prepared very differently from the baked green mussels I'm used to getting at restaurants in Los Angeles. They were quite spicy, which wasn't mentioned, and the flavor just wasn't what I expected. After waiting more than 40 minutes for them, they definitely weren't worth the wait. Overall, the food was decent, and the restaurant was busy and energetic, but the service mishap and the disappointing mussels left me with mixed feelings about the experience. I do appreciate Kyo's effort to make things right, as he was the one bright spot in an otherwise frustrating situation.

It has a warm ambient glow that makes the whole place feel intimate, but noise levels can be a bit high due to the close proximity of the tables and lack of noise buffer. Their drink menu is also creative, with unique cocktails and seasonal specials worth exploring. We tried a bunch of different food items: Takoyaki balls: the BEST balls ever! And that's saying a lot because we've been to Japan ! Takoyaki itself is a classic Osaka street food, traditionally made with diced octopus in a savory batter cooked in molded griddles. Here at Hachi, these takoyaki balls are crispy on the outside with a soft center, sitting abed a rich mayo-based sauce. What makes these stand out is the contrast with the balls of delicious and, instead of a fully liquid sauce, there are small chunks of cream cheese blended in, so you have bites of that with the battered balls! Agedashi Tofu: Lightly fried tofu served in a delicate dashi broth. The exterior is soft with a bit of crisp, while the inside stays silky and custard-like. The broth is clean and, if I dare say, savory but light. Basically a punch of umami and extremely balanced! Karaage: They are known for their chicken karaage, and it absolutely delivers. The chicken lightly coated and fried until golden and crisp while staying incredibly juicy inside. Each bite has a satisfying crunch followed by tender, flavorful meat! I highly recommend pairing it with the negi sauce, which delivers a a tangy vinegar-based scallion sauce that cuts through the fat and oils, and it deeply enhances the flavor of the chicken. Yakitori Skewers: Yakitori is a traditional Japanese grilling style where small skewers of meat are cooked over charcoal. The focus is on simple flavors utilizing high-quality ingredients. We tried a mix of skewers, which comes with a slice of lemon on top to be squeezed over the skewers: * Wagyu skewers: rich, buttery, and cooked to perfection * Beef tongue: more chewy and textured, so not a huge fan of it * Chicken skin: ultra crispy with rendered fat and a satisfying crunch * Pork belly with green onions: fatty, smoky, and balanced by the freshness of scallions We also ordered a fresh scallop skewer, grilled shrimp with tartar sauce, and eel. The scallops were sweet and tender with 3 pieces per skewer. The shrimp was cooked and de-shelled and served with a tartar sauce. The eel was the most memorable with its rich, tender, and deeply savory taste. Eel (unagi) is considered a delicacy in Japanese cuisine where it's known for its sweet glaze and soft texture. Our favorites were definitely the eel and scallop skewers.
