I suggested dimsum... They agreed! Yum Cha is a spacious, clean restaurant with bird cage decorations hanging from the ceiling. I liked the mural at the entrance that explained why people tap two fingers on the table while someone pours the tea. We ordered shrimp dumplings (ha gow), deep fried savory mochi (hom sui gok), pork and vegetable tofu skin roll, Chinese Broccoli, heart-shaped coconut pudding dessert, egg custard tarts (don tot), and Mushroom Mai (mushroom topped with shrimp and pork). They had run out of custard tarts, but we got the last one (with nice, flaky crust) and they substituted a Cha siu su (baked pastry with BBQ pork filling). Both were good! The shrimp dumplings were disappointing - the mushy interior seemed like it wasn't cooked well? Everything else was ok. Was looking for a dim sum restaurant and saw Yum Cha. I looked at the menu beforehand and noticed traditional and non-traditional items. Servers were pretty attentive, restaurant was clean, and there was even a dim sum hype woman that basically had us ordering more than we could eat haha. The good 1. Golden Sand Lava Custard Bun - What a name! We found out they make it fresh to order. None of it is premade. This was really, really good. The buns came out super hot and it was so soft and flaky. After you take your first bite, the hot custard just oozes out. They did not skimp on the custard which tasted amazing! You have to get this! 2. Shrimp Dumpling - The typical dim sum restaurant would have a thick skin and be lacking in shrimp. However, I found that they gave a lot of shrimp and the skin was thin. I would recommend this! 3. Donut Shrimp - This was interesting!. Basically a Chinese donut wrapped around some kind of shrimp paste and deep fried. Dip it with the sweet/sour sauce and this was a tasty treat! 4. Rice Noodle with Curry Sauce - I've only ever had Rice Noodle with the soy sauce based sauce. This was pretty good if you enjoy lighter curries. Definitely unique and worth trying. 5. Curry Fish Balls - I thought the curry flavors were really good. They added crispy fried scallions (I think) which helped elevate this dish. 6. Crispy Eggplant (Appetizer) - This was recommended on the menu and I can see why. The flavors were good and it came out crispy and hot. At first, I couldn't tell if it was eggplant but overall I liked the dish. The breading is pretty filling so be warned. The alright 1. Shrimp + Pork Shumai - This wasn't bad, just I've had better. Would be nice to update your website or have a recording stating "sorry due to the holidays or whatever it is, we don't take any take out order!" Saturday I tried calling several times. We liked Yum Cha. They serve dim sum all day, which is why we stopped by 3:30pm in the afternoon. The steam brown sugar sponge cake is a must get, it's fluffy, lightly sweet and just delicious. It took 20 minutes to make, so order it with your first order, and it will show up in time for dessert. My coworker recommended this so we had to come here. We took an Uber from our hotel Park MGM which was a short ride. They weren't busy when we got there. Bird cages wear hanging on ceiling as decorations. Tv showing how to make drinks. There was a huge selection of food on their menu. We had shumai, hargow, black bean pork ribs, chicken feet, egg tarts, beef tripe that i like to call Chinese menudo and wor wonton soup. I looked up dim sum near the strip as a last meal in Vegas with my family, and Yum Cha was the first result. We came on late on a Wednesday morning and were seated right away. They had all the usual dishes, with dim sum priced anywhere from ~$6-9 and entrees from ~$15-20. We ordered shrimp and pork shu mai, shrimp rice noodle, steamed beef BBQ pork buns, shrimp and chive dumplings, sticky rice in lotus leaf, radish cake, har gow, and chow mein. We also ordered some of their specialities, like the beef curry rice noodle. The dim sum was good, but not the best I've ever had. What made the experience just OK was that they charge a mandatory gratuity of 20% for parties of 4 or more. I expect this with parties of 6 or even 8, but to have it written in small text at the bottom of their menu and then to be still prompted to add an additional tip on top of that caught us a bit off guard. This is a Vegas staple when it comes to dim sum. Service is quick, efficient and friendly. They haven't changed their interior in over a decade which makes it nostalgic for me. The chicken feet, pork spare ribs, fried glutinous rice dumpling and shrimp har gow are some of my favorites here. However I wasn't a big fan of the siu mai - it was bland and could have been bigger. Nice place for dim sum while in Vegas. It can get crowded around lunch time but coming early will beat the rush. Their soy tofu flower is the best. As for all the other dishes they were average. The kids did not like the hot dog in a bun. Service was good. The place is spacious and has a lot of tables. The portion sizes were smaller to be expected. We eat dim sum every other weekend in SoCal so we're used to the portion sizes of the restaurants around the OC. So even though the prices were decent at Yum Cha but with smaller portion sizes, it can get pricy feeding 4 people especially with the higher sales tax in Vegas. We visited this place because I saw a tiktok video saying how great the food is. We should have walked out when we noticed we were the only other ppl in the restaurant. LISTED BELOW IS OUR ORDER: 2 orders of shiu mai, one pork/shrimp and one chicken which tasted like the frozen ones you can get at the asian grocery store. 1order of fried chicken wings which had a freezer burnt after taste, they gave us a dipping sauce for the chicken which was rancid so we sent it back. Then they gave us some mayo to dip the chicken as well and that was starting to separate, we could not eat this. We also ordered beef ribs with taro and the beef had so much fat on it and the entire dish was sitting in oil, this was inedible. 2 orders of rice which was extremely dry but was edible. 1 pot of tea which we were so thankful was decent. We needed sugar for the tea and they gave us a little container with sugar packets that were soaking in some sort of liquid. I have never ever been so DISCUSTED at a restaurant. Yum Cha is on my top three dim sum restaurants in Las Vegas. It's located off of Tropicana and Decatur in a major shopping plaza. You order from a menu instead of the steam carts coming to your table. The dim sum is pretty good. They have a large selection of menu items to choose from. I have also ordered for takeout and it's just as good as dining in. The food is always hot and fresh. The portions are your standard 3-4 pieces per order depending on what you select. Pricing is comparable to any other dim sum place in town. The experience is pretty casual since you order from the server and they bring it to your table. It's nice not having to wait for carts to come to you in hopes that you'll get whatever you're craving. Service is your typical dim sum experience where they add up the number of dishes multiplied times the price category and you pay at the table or on the way out the door. Their hot tea is very good and you can be in and out fairly quickly if you'd like to be. Yum Cha is great for locals or if you're visiting Las Vegas. Over 2k reviews and a solid 4 stars? That's odd. Maybe if this is as good as it gets in Vegas...then maybe it's good overall for Vegas? But being from Vancouver Canada...this was very underwhelming. The shrimp dumpling - my fave item at dim sum. It was so bad. The texture of the shrimp filling was odd. It's hard to tell in the photos but the texture was more like squished, minced shrimp with a weird soft texture and missing that bit of bite and bounce you'd usually get from the filling of a shrimp dumpling. It was also weirdly verrry over seasoned with pepper. You can kind of see all the pepper flecks if you look closely. The outer shell of the shrimp dumpling was also mediocre. Kinda firm and brittle where it should be soft but slightly stretchy and chewy. Flavor was not good either. 0/5 Beef short ribs was also over peppered. Flavor was weird like they might've been sitting in the freezer for awhile and had frost bite and a bunch of the pieces had too much fat on them. The taro chunks didn't taste right. 0/5 Steamed bbq pork buns weren't the worst but they weren't that good. 2.5/5 Baked custard bun was okay but the filling had a certain taste that made me think there's got to be artificial flavoring in it and I don't like that. The bun however was moist and soft. 3/5 We also got a cup serving of congee (can't find the picture for some reason) and it wasn't bad. 3/5 Overall the food was kind of abysmal and mediocre. read more

First time and for sure last time here. Couple things. Found a piece of hair in my leaf wrapped sticky chicken rice. They have signs posted up saying there's a 3% credit card transaction fee at the entrance, which is fine, but we were most surprised by the automatic 18% service charge when we were paying our bill.
