The other thing where it would make the whole experience more enjoyable would be the banchan selection which was "very" limited to 3 dishes of all preserved - kimchi & radishes only. I ordered their Komtang for the first time and went with the combo, which included small intestines, tripe, tendon, and brisket. My favorite part of the meal was actually the kimchi. They offer both regular and radish kimchi, and both were well-prepared with great freshness and rich flavor. The soup came with noodles already inside, along with a side of rice. There was also a bowl of green onions where you can add as much or as little as you'd like. You season the soup yourself with salt and pepper, which lets you customize it to your taste. It's a small cute Korean restaurant tucked inside a small plaza. Based on their name, I ordered the komtang, but we were quite hungry after an unsuccessful fishing day so also tried their Korean bbq and soon tofu soup. Prices were standard for this fare in the bay. The vibe was very casual and it took a little longer for our food to come out than anticipated. There were just two dishes of complimentary banchan. The kimchi and radish tasted extra fermented and sour, and the napa cabbage wasn't cut up into smaller pieces which made it more arduous to eat. - Chadol Komtang This comes with rice (you have an option of white or purple). Maybe it was because I got the komtang with just the brisket, but I thought it was missing some flavor, even after the addition of salt and pepper (which you're supposed to add yourself). I like that they give you a jar of sliced green onions and chili paste, but I wish the green onions were more freshly cut, and the chili paste was necessary but didn't significantly add to the flavor. Also, the very flimsy noodles tasted like something I've eaten from packaged ramen before - there just wasn't too much body. - Pork Bulgogi This was a bit interesting because it tasted more like sweet stir-fried pork with a bit more sweet onion flavor, with no char. I was not fond of how half of it was basically cabbage and onion. - Ham & Sausage Soft Tofu This comes with an egg already added in, and a bowl of rice. Because they added the egg in themselves, it got overcooked and they got some egg shell inside, which made the surprise sharp crunches pretty unappetizing. The ham is basically spam, and the sausage tasted like a generic salty hot dog, sliced really thin. I like that they give you whole chunks of tofu, but the soup base was a little bland. It definitely tasted diluted, even with our salty meats. There were also a lot of sliced onion and diced zucchini chunks. I wanted to like this place, but I was hoping for more flavor in our food, speaking as an anti-salt eater. I'm also spoiled by the Korean food in south bay. I don't think leaving egg shells in the food is acceptable, and they forgot our rice preferences. If you happen to have a craving for Korean food, it wouldn't be too bad for the area if you temper your expectations. read more

The chicken wings Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm The chicken wings are fire bro good eats. Not overly seasoned, however it doesn't leave more to be wanted. These chicken wings are super duper crispy man, great appetizer, doesn't take the shine away from the main entrees, also the chicken wings come in a large portion too, so enough for one person or to share with friends. My girlfriend likes to get the bibimbap or the number 1 which I will leave a photo of. Went again. Wished the hot stone bibimbap had enough rice so there could be some on top of the thin layer of crunchy rice. Some oil in the bowl would have made the dish look more fried and less bean sprouts so that you don't see stringy things everywhere. You get to season the broth to your flavor profile with the salt and red pepper paste they provide on the table. I actually just use the kimchi goodness from the banchan and add that in my soup; it was very tasty. The kimchi and daikon came out first and they were spicy! But it was too good to not stop eating. Our friends ordered the seafood pancake and it was perfectly crispy with a generous portion of seafood. Absolutely delicious. They only had one front of house server manning the place and he did a phenomenal job on a pretty busy New Year's Day. We received our food relatively quick after he took our orders. Seoul Komtang is my go to Korean restaurant in the Tri valley. Honestly, no Korean restaurants out here can really compare to the South Bay. After trying some spots in Livermore/Pleasanton I'm surprised how some of them have better ratings than Seoul Komtang. The food here is solid. Seafood pancake is big and crispy. Komtang comes out piping hot and is super filling! I've also tried the galbi tang, dukbaegi bulgogi, gopchang, tonkatsu, jungol, and more. I've never tried anything here I didn't like, except the naengmyun once which was too frozen to eat comfortably. The side dishes are simple, just kimchi and radish but it's actually really good for a restaurant! We're regulars here and will often choose Seoul Komtang if we're eating out. read more

The Bibimbap with Pork was also excellent. It arrived sizzling hot with a perfectly cooked egg on top, packed with flavorful veggies. The only downside was the burnt rice at the bottom, which made some parts of the dish inedible. Aside from that, it was a solid dish. She was very friendly and checked up on me even when she had 4 other parties in the restaurant and she was the only one there. I got my food relatively quickly and it was a big bowl. It was a hot stone pot that had lots of noodles and beef sliced thinly. For the bonchon, the seolltang comes with cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi. Both were so yummy and fresh- I didn't taste any hint of sourness which is my fave. The soup is not seasoned but on the table, you have a bowl of salt to season to your preference. Came here on a Saturday night, craving some cold noodles. This spot was nearby and was higher rated, so we decided to give it a try. Even within an hour of closing, there was a small line to get in. We waited about 10 minutes for a table to open. Unfortunately, our table was right in the line of the AC. While it was a hot day, the direct AC plus cold noodles made us pretty cold throughout the meal. The cold noodles and beef bone soup were my favorites. The Kimchi fried rice was weird. It came with peas and carrots, and I think chopped up hot dogs? Really odd. This is also one of the few Korean restaurants that I've been to without a lot of banchan. We just got some kimchi on the side. But, also. It could be because we came in near closing on a Saturday. The kimchi was pretty solid. Tasted homemade. Dolsot Bibimbap is one of my favorite dishes and the hot stone beef bibimbap was really delicious! The hot stone bowl was super hot, which ensured the rice at the bottom got nice and crispy. We also ordered the beef dumplings which were nice and crispy and the Dukbaegi Bulgogi. The Dukbaegi Bulgogi comes with a bowl of rice and is a wonderful saucy bulgogi option. I love the hot tea here especially, it had a very nice warm toasty flavor to it. The service was quick and friendly. Our server was very accommodating for our request for more cups of tea because she initially brought us 2 cups when we were a party of 4. We came in about an hour before closing and the restaurant was really busy, but she still checked in with us throughout the meal. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance, pretty typical to any similar mom and pop type of Korean restaurant.
