Yummy Dumplings is a great Chinese restaurant with some of the best dumplings I have had! We came here for dinner last weekend. It's a smaller size restaurant, but when we came we were seated immediately. There was only us and another family eating during our time at the restaurant, but we saw multiple people come and go for "to-go" orders. The service was fantastic and we ordered and got our food pretty fast. We started off with the Sweet and Sour soup and then moved onto the shrimp & chicken dumplings, the house chow mein, and an order of Kung Pao Chicken. All the items we ordered were delicious! The veggies they used in the chow mein and chicken tasted fresh. The dumplings were the star of the show, however. They were cooked to perfect and filled with a shrimp and chicken filling. I'd come back just for the dumplings alone. One thing I did notice is that there was a Chinese lady sitting close to the kitchen hand wrapping all of the dumplings and preparing them. We saw a review in the Gold Mine and decided to give it try since they profess they make their own dumplings. We got there at opening and the host told us a 10 min wait, which we could understand. We ordered 5 dishes and when they arrived they came fast and hot and delicious! The homemade dumplings were great, good ingredients and cooked perfectly with their own dipping sauce. This is a rather small restaurant, but they have great dumplings and great food. Don't expect to be wow'd by decor or anything like that. There are a couple of tables, and the services is pretty fast. Don't be afraid to call out and ask for something if you need it, they're very nice about helping you. Personally, I am used to dumplings with thinner skins and lighter filling flavors, but these are also very delicious. The filling is flavorful and my favorite is the pork and chives. I have a soft spot for the normal dumplings, but the pan-fried dumplings are also very good, they are fried perfectly. We've also had some of their other dishes, like shrimp fried rice, mushroom and chicken, green onion pancake, and fried tofu. All of it has been delicious. AMAZING! First of all, I am a Dumpling/potsticker fanatic. I am very picky. They must be quality--homemade and flavorful. Yummy Dumpling nails it!!!! I've had the pork and veggie potsticker and the pork and chive dumplings. Wow. II cannot not get over how good they are. And the sauce is killer too. I've also tried the sweet and sour chicken. All the food here has been well made and flavorful. I will certainly be back. The only downside is that I don't live here. So now, I will come here every time I come visit family. read more

Zero stars, this place does not care if you get what you actually ordered. We ordered the family meal and substituted the entrees with Kung pao chicken and orange chicken and got home to find that we just got the basic stuff they offer with the meal. I would give 5 stars for the dumplings. I had the pan fried veggie dumplings and they were the best I ever had. Fried perfectly, fresh, and full of fresh looking veggies like mushrooms and corn. Loved them. I also had the fried tofu app which was a lot of tofu and had a subtle nice 5 spice seasoning. My only issue was with my husband's dish and our friends'. The dishes with beef and broccoli or beef and veggies had a minuscule amount of protein in them and I felt bad for them. For the price, there should have been a lot more protein. This is the rating for pan fried dumplings (4.5 star, 2019/7/25), only because it's definitely worth going for them if you happen to take 50 to go anywhere. It's literally just off the highway. I must mention though that hot and boiled ones and other dishes including hot and sour soup, broccoli and fried noodle are somewhat at the expected quality, though still impressive given the location is middle of no where for a Chinese restaurant to survive. We tried pork scallion pan fried dumplings which we really loved. These are prob better than what I make on my own! read more

I really wanted to like this place. Two major faults that justify only two stars: * a cook/owner was sitting at a table in the DINING AREA, making pork potstickers. Raw pork was on the table, and the person was bare-handed. Someone else can look up health code violations - food prep should NEVER be done in the dining area. * we ordered three things: house fried rice, pork/scallion potstickers, and pork/kimchi potstickers. The rice was eminently ordinary, but cannot be faulted. The problem was with both orders of potstickers: although boiled/steamed and then pan-fried, they were all UNDERCOOKED. It wasn't bad enough to complain about (or send back to the kitchen), but it was noticeable. However trendy medium-rare pork chops may be, ground pork should always be FULLY cooked - especially since they were probably made in the dining room just a few hours earlier. The combination of the two items means I have no interest in coming back, which is a shame - I love potstickers. read more

I've only done takeout at this place and the food is excellent and very flavorful. I probably wouldn't want to come sit down there because the place doesn't look any better than the photos. My expectations were pretty low, and I was absolutely blown away by how good the food was. Everything was very fresh. My two picky kids ate more than they do on my most days in just this one meal, and my husband and I were really impressed by the freshness and taste of the food. We ordered pork and vegetable dumplings, chicken and corn pot stickers, chicken chow mein, veggie fried rice, garlic green beans, and a small hot and sour soup. When they first opened my sister, husband, a friend, and myself, decided to get dumplings for lunch from here. We got the pork and vegetable dumplings, we all got sick and haven't been back. Since it has been quite a few months since then my sister decided to get dumpling soup with the pork and chive dumplings. She was a bit nervous because of our past experience. The soup is served with 10 dumplings on the side, a dipping sauce, and a container of broth. We will not make this mistake again. She had a few dumplings and maybe two spoonfuls of the broth, I had one, now we both feel extremely sick. The dumplings were rubbery, chewy, and had some sort of liquid inside them. The broth was salty and had a weird smell to it. We both have thrown up within 30 minutes of eating this. With this being the second time, and other people have told us they've gotten sick too, we are going to contacting the health department. Something is definitely wrong with their food. read more

If you do not come here, you are missing the BEST dumplings in the el dorado area, i may be bias. BUUUT you can tell theyre made with love and are incredibly delicious. My family and I got 3 types of dumplings and had zero complaints about any of them. I usually opt for pan-fried anything and really enjoy how crispy they make theirs. We have ordered take out twice and both times they have screwed up the order. Both times we only ordered pot stickers so I don't know how they can screw up something so easy. Did y'all realize Michelin star reviews started as Michelin tires way of rating your road trips? Basically, it gave 3 stars for places you MUST stop to enjoy the scenery, food, etc. In the 21st Century version known as Yelp, this is one of those MUST stop by places. The place specializes in dumplings, and, boy, do they deliver! I am a Bay Area transplant who misses simple things as dim sum on Sunday's. While this place does not have a full fledge array of dim sum, their dumplings are WORLD class. Take that from someone who has been to over 3 Din Tai Fung world wide locales. read more

Very conveniently located off the highway going to and from Tahoe, this is a great location to eat at. The ambience is nothing special but doesn't need to be. The staff are very friendly and looking to help. More importantly, the food, in particular the dumplings, is great. I am really excited this place opened. It is basically impossible to get anything resembling good Chinese food up in this area, so I was pretty skeptical. It's a small, sort of hole in the wall place in a strip mall. I know there used to be another Chinese restaurant at this location as well. Staff was taking a meal break in the dining room, so I thought we might have to wait awhile, but even with several folks eating, our food was still out quickly. Service was great. Anyway, we opted for the family dinner since it was sort of a sampling of all their dishes. The dumplings were awesome. Crispy and stuffed full of pork. I am still regretting not just getting an order to go. The spring rolls were average. The cream cheese wontons were good, but I've never been a huge fan of those anyway. The dinner comes with rice, sweet and sour chicken, and beef with veggies. The rice and beef were really good - the chicken was fresh and crispy and pretty darn sweet (but I also know that's the way a lot of people like it). Dinner was under $30 and we had more than enough leftovers for lunch the next day. I am already planning my next visit back to get some noodles and dumplings. I am very excited. read more

Delicious pot stickers, dumplings, and dipping sauce! My sister was visiting from out of town and was craving dumplings. Following an appointment in Folsom, and based on Yelp reviews, I suggested we visit Yummy Dumplings for an early dinner. We ordered Chicken and Shrimp Pot Stickers and Pork and Chive Dumplings. The portions are huge with 10 pieces in each order. Both were super tasty with me favoring the pot sticker preparation and my sister the dumpling. She said they were comparable to the dumplings she and her husband had in China and she loved them... after finishing two dumplings and two pot stickers she ended up literally drinking down what was left of her dipping sauce because it was so special and addictive! We also had Thai iced teas that were very tasty. For later munching and next day meals, I ordered Chicken and Vegetables, and a Shrimp Fried Rice to-go. The Chicken and Veg was sumptuous with a well-flavored sauce, but the fried rice was a bit of a disappointment. The flavor was nothing special (the shrimp a little too "fishy" tasting) and for me, the size of the rice was too small. Regardless, it worked fine when paired with the chicken dish, benefiting from the added moisture. It's a long drive from my home in Sacramento all the way out to Cameron Park, but if I'm ever in the area, I will stop in at Yummy Dumplings and recommend you do too! read more
