Yummy House reminds me of a place I used to get chinese food in the mid-90's. It's no frills, the decor is dated, but it's comfort food and familiar, and I'm a fan. I hit this place up for their chicken noodle soup when I'm sick, or just for a cheap lunch. read more

My Moo Shu pork was very good but all the breading on the chicken and shrimp was just too heavy and had a bitter off taste to it. Makes me think that the oil it was cooked in might have been rancid. I'd come back but would hesitate to order anything that's fried. read more

I had read some very positive reviews here and my wife and I decided to check out Yummy House. We are familiar with almost all the restaurants in the Corvallis and Albany area and somewhat with Salem. I lived in Thailand for a year and am very familiar with various Asian cuisines including Chinese. I eat it and cook it at home often. The service was very pleasant and I would rate it five star! With that said, I found Yummy House to be OK, but nothing to rave about. Because I had read a review about outstanding egg foo young, I decided to order it. We ordered the Pork Egg Foo Young, Chinese Style Chicken Fried Rice and General Tso's chicken as well as a small bowl of Hot and Sour Soup. Te Hot and Sour Soup was middle of the road for me. It was appropriately sour, which is something that most Chinese restaurants miss out on. But, it was only luke warm and that is unacceptable. It was thickened to the right extent and had solid taste, but the serving temperature was below par and the "hot" in "hot and sour" was missing. I understand that restaurants have to appeal to palates that do not want spicy hot food and soup is prepared for everyone. But, this could have used a little more spice. The Pork Egg Food Young was disappointing. Clearly made well ahead of time, lacking in contents and I can't even describe what was within the perfectly round circle of cooked egg. When Egg Foo Young is perfectly round my experience is that may be lacking. This was lacking in taste. It was bland. The gravy was tasteless brown gravy and was also luke warm. I would never order this again. The Chicken Fried Rice Chinese Style was quite good and I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was tender and abundant and was stir fried in a wok with vegetables that remained slightly crunchy and not overcooked. This was in a clear thick sauce that tasted of grilled chicken. It was then poured over steamed rice (thus the "Chinese Style" differentiating it from the usual Americanized Fried Rice. I would order it again,. The General TSO was OK. Sauce was thin and bland. Chicken pieces small, but not overcooked. Nothing to rave about. It was typical of what is served in nearly every Chinese restaurant. I also know that some small Chinese restaurants may be inconsistent in what is served so I may give Yummy House another try to see if there is a difference in days and times. But I can only give it a 3 star as A-OK. I've had better Chinese, even in Albany. Much better Chinese in Corvallis. read more

Extremely friendly, clean, and nice! I took my grandfather who really enjoyed his Szechuan chicken and fried shrimp.

Came in tonight on the recommendations from others on Yelp and I have been wanting to try in anyway. The service was kinda slow for the amount of people that were in the restaurant, but the food was defiantly delicious. The vegetables in the chow mein were very fresh. The kung po chicken, sweet and sour pork and bbq pork were good flavor, fried shrimp (yum), fried rice was also good. I would recommend to come in and I will be back read more

The general tso chicken should be called the general so so chicken at best.. the flavor of the sauce was ok but it was almost all puffed up dough.The bbq pork was not pork but turkey! The hot sour soup was ok but not the best around, sweet and sour chicken was good only it was all white meat, fried rice was ok, you have to ask for hot tea it's not on the menu.. lady at front counter was nice but had no sense of humor I think mostly from a bit of a language barrier..DON'T WAST YOUR MONEY!! go to AB Chinese just down the street instead and get much better food for the money...don't like to talk bad about people but they lied about the pork.. who knows where else they cut corners if they lied about the pork was that really chicken??? read more

Finding good Chinese food in Albany or Corvallis is a challenge. When our regular go to place was closed on a weeknight, we thought we would try someplace new. We tried the Yummy House. It wasn't that Yummy! The sweet and sour shrimp was almost inedible. The coating was hard and it had a funny taste. Another reviewer said a bitter taste and that might have been it? The orange chicken was a little better but the prices were higher than our regular place and the service - even for takeout - wasn't that great. Will not be going back to the Yummy House. read more

The food is excellent and flavorful. I especially like the Kung Pao Chicken and the General Tsos Chicken. Husband likes the Shrimp dishes and the variety of combination plates that are different from other restaurants we've been to. This is the only Asian restaurant we will go to and we found it by accident one night. The owners are very nice and friendly. Service is very good and we don't have to wait very long at all for our meals to arrive or be ready to be picked up if we're ordering them to go home to eat. The prices are very reasonable. The Mar Far chicken is really good. There's not a lot of breading on it like other restaurants. As I mentioned earlier, the food is very flavorful. Appetizers are generous portions and the BBQ Pork is wonderful. The place may not look like much from the outside, but it's all about what's served on the inside, right?!
