We decided to go out of our way and give them a try, based on some old Yelp photos of their pan fried dumplings and how good it looked in the photos. I constantly subject myself to new, lower-end establishments in hopes of finding gems here and there, but I should have known better with this one. This restaurant is very typical of any Chinese fast food restaurant and they serve most of the usuals here - I'm hoping the "usuals" of Chinese fast food need no introduction what so ever. In addition, there are your lunch specials as well, which are served daily from 11AM - 3PM. We ended up ordering the Pan Fried Pork Dumplings and a Chicken with Garlic Sauce Lunch Special with Pork Fried Rice and Wonton Soup for takeout. First, before I dive into the flavors, it was very disappointing to find out that the Pan Fried Pork Dumplings only came with 6 pieces. 6 pieces for $8!?!? What has this world come to that a bootleg pan fried pork dumpling is $1.33 each!?!? As for the food, meh. The pork dumplings were rather very average. It wasn't great, but it wasn't the worst pork dumpling I've ever had. As for the Chicken with Garlic Sauce - another meh. I've definitely had better when it comes to this type of a lunch special. The taste of it all was just a bit off and not as good as other Americanized Chinese fast food we've had at other places. It was worth a try to see if they served better pan fried dumplings than our favorite Chinese fast food restaurant, but the answer was a clear NO. However, I will also say that I've also had my fair share of Americanized Chinese food. Most Chinese people probably wouldn't be too proud of that fact, but I consider myself a man of every food. I don't discriminate just because a twist doesn't make a food authentic - yah dig? If it taste good, it taste good, even if not authentic. With that said, I do want my Americanized Chinese food to taste just as good as any I've had in the past and, unfortunately, Ya Food Chan's just didn't cut it for me. Maybe it'll do for you, but, for me, I've had much, much better. First off, as you'd expect with most local Americanized Chinese restaurants, this place can sure use a makeover. Honestly, it almost feels like a health risk every time I have Americanized Chinese food anywhere because some spots can look sketchy and Ya Food might be teetering on that border. I am glad to report though that I am 100% healthy and the food was fine. As for the menu, it has all of your typical favorites - Chicken and Broccoli, General Tso's Chicken, Egg Foo Young, etc., etc., etc. The menu was pretty typical of all Americanized Chinese restaurants. My wife and I decided to take a chance and we came here to order a few lunch specials and misc. items: Chicken with Mixed Vegetable Lunch Special Egg Foo Young Lunch Special Beef with Black Bean Sauce Lunch Special Pork Dumpling Hot and Sour Soup Typically, when we order Americanized Chinese food, we order from the Lunch Special menu and, shockingly, the prices were pretty much on par with other restaurants we had been too when we lived in NYC. From 11am-3:30pm, their lunch specials go into effect for anywhere from $7.15-$8.00. In addition, their lunch specials come with white, roast pork or vegetable fried rice and a choice of wonton, egg drop soups or an egg roll/soda. So, the prices are reasonable, but, unfortunately, the food was blah. In no way, am I expecting a 5 star meal, but the flavors were just off. The Egg Foo Young itself was fine, but the sauce for it did not taste good. It definitely was not what I have been accustomed to. The roast pork fried rice with our specials were OK. As for the soups, wonton, egg drop and hot & sour - all a real disappointment. All of them were watery and not very flavorful. Like I said, I don't expect a 5 star meal when eating at such an establishment, but I would expect better flavors for what it is. Americanized Chinese food is sort of my guilty pleasure and there was no pleasure eating the food we ordered. I'm hoping this was a one off and I might give them another shot, but there are also plenty of other Americanized Chinese restaurants in NJ that I would like to give a chance before coming back.

My order was ready within 10 minutes and tasted fresh (obviously it was just made but I could tell by the taste that the oil used to fry the wings was new). The container was stapled which is great for reducing the risk of a spill if delivered. The restaurant was clean and had typical decor you see at similar restaurants. There was very low music playing. It was quite quiet compared to typical Chinese restaurants which was also nice.
