This place is DIVINE! When you're craving that street food, Yup Dduk will hit the spot. Every element of the original yupdduk dish was perfectly cooked - chewy rice cakes/fish cakes and cellophane noodles, juicy sausage, crispy gimmari. I have to note that the sausage is so so so delicious, and I don't like sausage. I made boiled eggs at home to eat with it, which I recommend doing. The dish also comes with radish on the side, as does the soondae. The serving size for the yupdduk is easily enough for 4-5 people in my opinion... but it's hard to stop eating... as for spice level, I ordered mild and now I have to lay down, so I highly recommend extra mild if it's your first time :) read more

We ordered the yup dduk with noodles, boiled eggs, and a side of rice balls in mild. Holy crap it was so spicy, good and addicting. I think my friends and I have a pretty good spice tolerance but we were sweating and noses running. Make sure to eat the radish to help haha. The texture of the rice cakes and noodles were really good. As for the flavor, it reminded me of the Samyang spicy noodle black bag. You can also ask for extra mozzarella cheese to help with the spice. One order of the yup dduk came in a huge bowl and was enough for four people. I love Yup Dduk Chicken Stew but way too spicy and made me cough at the first bite and I had to add some water to take it down a little next day. I would eat this more often if they can offer different spicy level but only offer the original or more spicy! The original is already out of this world spicy but because it was tasty, I would order again but will add lots of water before I eat it. I also tried Yup Dduk extra mild which was still spicy but very good so I've ordered several times more. Yelp describes this as a chicken place and Yup Dduk sounds like duck so I also thought about chicken (real white of me lol) but there was no chicken in my set A. The only meat was 3 tiny 1" long sausages which isnt a lot for the $30 I spent. I was continuously told it was spicy to the point I thought they were being racist against me as I didnt see them do this to their asian customers. The spicy level was similar to Thai restaurants, so it was spicy, but bot enough to tell me 10 times, suggest milk, and say we will have water ready for you lol It was a variety of noodles in a sweet and spicy sauce with a bit of sea food smell / taste. I hate spicy food that has a sweet taste in general. The sea food taste added to the grossness and there was no sea food in it. I come here super often for their tteokboki because I think they are the most comparable to the rice cakes I've had in Korea! (Including the spice level). My go-to order is their yuppdok mild with a side of chinese flat noodles and rice balls. If you can't take the heat, definitely order extra mild and have some milk on hand! They are not kidding when they compare the mild level to buldak noodles! I'm vegetarian so I usually do take out and add tofu into the rice cakes when I get home (my family eats the fish cake). Super delicious, but be warned that the spice levels may fluctuate slightly depending on the day (regardless of what spice level you order). Yup Dduk is seriously one of my favorite places to get authentic ddeokbokki so I was SO STOKED to have one open so much closer to home! My friends and I ordered Set C (mild) with Jumbo Tuna Rice on the side because even though we said we're pretty good with spicy we still kind of died HAHA. This place is easily the best tteokbokki i've ever had lol. The flavor is so different from your typical pre-frozen packaged tteokbokki you'd find at grocery stores or reg korean fried chicken pubs. We got extra mild and the spice level was perfecttttt. My bf's nose was running who's usually used to spice but it was manageable. I'd eat this ten times over again and regular tteokbokki will never taste the same to me LOL. I wouldn't recommend ordering sides or add-ons for two people if you don't plan on eating a lot. Absolutely love Yup Dduk! Have been to other locations, but this one has my favorite tteokboki! Although they say it's extremely spicy on the advertising, they have many different options and the mild one has just the right amount of spice but it doesn't overpower the flavor. We got the regular set with cheese, dumplings, and ramen. For the price and quality it was a pretty good deal! Also got some of their agua fresca, which was delicious and helped beat some of the heat! We were served by some of the most friendliest staff I've ever encountered and had an amazing time! The quality of the dishes has been so good each time and the portions are great to share or to have some food leftover for a couple of meals. YUM! Spicy Korean rice cakes. You can choose from 2 options. One is more rice cake and the other is more fish cake. So it's just personal preference. All options are spicy. Their extra mild option is slightly spicy, which is the one we got. Next time I'd go for the mild option, which is apparently as spicy as spicy ramen. One bowl is around $20 and serves 2 heavy eaters or 3-4 light eaters. I would also recommend getting the fried seaweed sticks on the side! That was my fave side! The ramen was also a nice addition. The rice balls were just ok, it's just balls of rice wrapped in seaweed. I'd rather spend that money on more fried seaweed sticks! Oh and get the fried seaweed sticks on the side, because they typically throw it in the soup which makes it soggy. Waitress was so nice! I had very great experiences every time in both Irvine and Diamond Bar store, except this time. As usual we ordered a mild yupdduk to-go. We found the portion is much less than what we had before, and it's super spicy. It's totally different from what we has last time.
