Southwest breakfast burrito with a large very berry smoothie

I have been coming to Z Cafe for many years now, and it is not only one of my favorite places for sandwiches, but also one of my family's favorites. The sandwiches are amazing. One of my favorites that they offer is the Manhattan Club. I have also had the turkey bacon avocado sandwich. Everything tastes fresh and is loaded with flavor. They also have great salads and side dishes. Their potato and macaroni salads are among my favorite side dishes. They also have a nice selection of drinks. Some of my favorite beverages are their lemonades, smoothies, and coffee. The service is friendly. Every time I have walked into the building, someone at the counter has always greeted me with a warm smile and asked me how my day was going before I placed my order. I also like the atmosphere. A nice place to relax and enjoy your meal. Their portion sizes are also big for the price. I recommend Z Cafe to anyone in the Mesa area looking for a great place for sandwiches, breakfast burritos, and assorted beverages.

It's been quite awhile since I've visited or ordered from Z Cafe, and I'm so sorry for this! Now after ordering a quick lunch today, I am reminded of why I have loved it here so much for so many years!!! The food is amazing and fresh and the service is always spot on! My 1/2 sandwich and Mediterranean salad today was just perfection and more than enough to fuel me up this afternoon - all for a reasonable price too. I'll be sure to stop by soon with a friend or two to share my gratitude and show some support to this local family owned biz for their wonderful service and delicious meal I had today!

Derrick and I both had the Irwin double bacon cheese tater's if you want for fruit I have the Erwin with double bacon but I had a sausage the omelette is like today meat taco nothing is mixed in with the egg fruit was delicious. Coffee is good trip. I'll be back.

This place is great! My first time here the turkey and bacon sandwich was delicious i really recommend it. Good ambience will definitely come back. The service was excellent. The smoothies are delicious

Enjoyed eating breakfast here this morning. They were the only ones around here open at 7am. Workers greeted us with a smile. Had the omelet with mushroom bacon and spinach. The egg was fluffy and soft. But wish had less bacon and more mushrooms and spinach. The bacon, mushrooms and spinach were all made earlier and kept warm. However it came with toast which was nice. I'd come back and eat here again.

This place is great! I live in Glendale but work in the area from time to time and come here any time I have a chance. I always go for the sandwiches, specifically the chicken bacon ranch (cold menu) or the Dylan (hot sandwich) with the bow tie pasta! If you're in the area I highly recommended their sandwiches!

This place is amazing!! I always either get the southwest burrito or the turkey bacon avocado sandwich! I've been eating here for YEARS. The service is quick and they have a good amount of seating. It's the perfect small mom and pop shop. I wish they were open on Sundays or served breakfast all day since that's the only day I have off work and I'd love to bring my boyfriend to try the breakfast burritos. It's great. My boyfriend and I live fairly close and would always drive by when it was closed so we had a joke of "Ah, want some Z-Cafe?" Every time it was close and we passed. We finally got to try it and it's so good, I'm upset I hadn't tried it sooner. They are really good with accommodating allergies as I have severe peanut and nut allergies as well as some fish too. They are good at explaining what is in the food and are careful when preparing it. 10/10 read more

Z-Cafe is a very cool little restaurant that serves up both Breakfast in the morning hours and a tasty Lunch during the rest of the day. They also have some really good looking Smoothies and fresh Cookies to enjoy. Just happened to find this place with my Yelp "nearby" button. I had the craving for a hot Sandwich and the photos got my stomach growling. Their PDF menu on the internet has all of the items they serve and it is very easy to navigate. Ordered the The Bloom Sandwich with Turkey, Bacon, Provolone, Cheddar, Avocado, Red Onion & Chipotle Sauce on Sourdough Bread with a side of their Homemade Potato Salad. It was very delicious and all of the ingredients were very fresh. They have several other cold and hot sandwiches as well as breakfast items in the morning There are also Soup and Salad options that can be ordered as a meal or they can be combined with a sandwich purchase. Service was very friendly and the place inside is very clean. I was very impressed with how important it was to them that my visit was both pleasant and expedient. Definitely will be back to try out some more of their yummy menu. The prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes are just right without going overboard and putting me into a food coma. I've always had friendly and prompt service, and when ordering to go via phone, my order is ready when I arrive. Want to avoid the long wait at Starbucks? I have been ordering food here for over 2 years for my companies monthly manager meetings and we have always been super happy with the quality, portion size and taste of the food. This month I made a mistake and ordered without selecting the time and date of pickup (totally my fault) so the food was naturally made asap. I called when I realized what I had done but the food had already been made and was awaiting pickup. At first I was upset at the prospect of paying for the food twice (my meeting was for the next day) but more concerned why they didn't call me so I spoke to the manager/owner. He was extremely accommodating and didn't make me pay for the food twice--that wasn't my intention--but it made me feel good to know he recognized my loyalty as a long time customer and wanted to make me happy. I will continue to go to Z Cafe for all of our company caterings and will share my recommendation of this great breakfast/lunch spot with everyone. Thank you Z Cafe!!! read more

This place was busy and a bit loud but tolerable. I am glad I ordered right off the YELP site as it was quick and easy to order off of and it was certainly done a lot sooner than YELP had predicted. Awesome food. My caesars salad could have had a bit more chicken but it was definitely worth it but order two dressings as there is more salad than chicken. read more

Great sandwiches at an affordable prices (under $10). Comes with 2 sides that are excellent. The staff when above and beyond to help me craft a sandwich I would love. They were awesome! The chef in the back actually listened to what I wanted and gave me some recommendations, and even customized my order to my liking. It was clean and well kept. One of my favorite lunch spots. I regularly ordered the Alloush with spicy mustard and it's always amazing. My 2 year old is obsessed with their potato salad (she's picky as hell so that's really saying something). It's about time I leave a review after consistently coming here for about 5 years! I have a unique order since I am quite picky, but for anyone that likes a really good basic sandwich I suggest you try this out! Roast Beef Melt with no onion or horseradish, cheddar cheese instead of pepper jack, and sourdough bread. It comes with mayonnaise on it, and that keeps it from being dry. It is the best sandwich I have ever tasted, honestly. There was a point of me coming here 3 days a week! I have maybe two instances over the 5 years of just "ok" food where it seemed like someone new made my meal, other than that I have nothing bad to say about Z cafe! read more

Z-Cafe is a hidden gem. The food is excellent. I normally order the chicken sandwich on sourdough bread with turkey/rice soup. My husband orders the roast beef sandwich on croissant. The way they handle pricing and ordering makes no sense. You cannot see the price of anything upfront. When you go to order, you are shown multiple sizes for drinks but no prices at all. You have to add items to your cart just to figure out what anything costs, then remove them and try again. I stood there for way longer than I should have just pressing buttons trying to figure out pricing. On top of that, they have a sign out front advertising one dollar coffee, but when you actually go through the menu, there is no one dollar coffee anywhere. It feels misleading and honestly frustrating. You end up wasting time trying to find a deal that does not seem to exist. Good coffee, but the overall experience and decisions around ordering and pricing completely ruin it.

Their pastry selection is lacking however, this might be because we came a little later in the day but there was not a lot of options. The Z-cafe is by far my favorite place to eat! The food is made fresh daily and the meals are made when ordered. The staff is super friendly and very hospitable. The environment at the "Z" is like no others out there. You will always see familiar, friendly faces that go out of there way to greet you by name as you walk in the door if you are a returning customer. They only use the best products available because they truelly care about the customer experience. The dining area is always clean and welcoming. Any other sandwich shops (a.k.a. Jimmy Johns, Subway, etc...) aren't even in the same category in my books, and after finding the Z-Cafe, I will never ever go to another sandwich shop again. Another great place for breakfast or lunch. They have the greatest breakfast burritos stuffed with egg,meat and potatoes. Just what you need to get you going in the morning. Specialty coffees are available to get your engine running as well. They also have wonderfully unique sandwiches all made fresh while you wait. I work just down the street and frequent Z Cafe several times a month. Rarely is everything not completely awesome. I usually get the egg salad sandwich which is homemade and really yummy. Love their sour dough bread and the potato salad is really great as well. Our office does to go orders often and there hasn't been a screw up on an order yet. Our office orders from Z Cafe at least once a week. The food is always top notch and fantastic. The ONLY complaint is the long lines and wait time at lunch. We ofter call ahead for our order to avoid the wait. If people, including myself, are willing to wait, then the food must be worth it.... WHICH IT IS.
