I am in town for a night and there's really not much around but Zaan had amazing reviews and I thought I should see if it lived up to the hype and it sure did!! I ordered the mango curry chicken and it was definitely not coming home with me! I just about licked the bowl clean right there at my table for one. The rice was so light and fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Service was fast and very attentive. Highly recommend a meal here! read more

Delicious! Our favorite spot in Tallahassee has been slipping for at least a year and we started to get a bit sad. Made our way to Thomasville for a car service today and decided it was time to try Zaan. SO GLAD WE DID. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The delicious smells as soon as you walk in made my mouth water.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was impeccable. We decided to just do a couple smaller plates for our first time but can't wait to try some entrees next time. Everything on the menu looked amazing. We tried the paneer 65 (medium spicy was perfect and the paneer was the best I've had in a long time), pani puri (delicious and fun!), samosa chaat (seasoned beautifully), and the aloo tikka chaat (seasoned and fried perfectly and the chutneys were amazing). The staff was so friendly and polite and even gave us some mango mousse to end our lunch with. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, I really loved the dinnerware and serving plates and such, weird thing to comment on probably but I want them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thomasville is lucky to have this gem of a restaurant and with the short drive from Tallahassee it's definitely worth the trip. Zaan is one of the best restaurants in our region. We go to Zaan Thomasville from Tallahassee at least once a month. Usually, every two weeks. We have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the US and Europe, Zaan is one of the best. The food is delicious and made with quality ingredients, it is consistent and it is beautifully presented. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere of the restaurant is peaceful and sophisticated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is excellent. All of the staff are knowledgeable about the food and able to answer questions. Zaan is one of the best restaurants in our region. We are very excited about the new Tallahassee Zaan and have already ordered food there. Excellent taste and quality as always. The food was amazing! We got the butter chicken, biryani, and bread sampler. Everything was cooked to perfection. Both were spicy (even the mild) but not too spicy if you like that sort of thing. Everyone working was super friendly and knowledgeable. Be prepared to wait to sit down and to get your food, but that is to be expected because it's new. Totally worth the wait in my opinion. Fantastic! Yes, the wait was long but it was the second day they've been open and we weren't in a rush. They're working out the kinks. The food itself was worth the wait. The server was very pleasant and the wait staff kept our drinks full. The naan (including the starter sampler) was fantastic. Get the naan. A friend of mine who lives in Thomasville highly recommended this place and I finally got to try it. And it instantly became my favorite restaurant in Tally/ Thomasville area! We ordered samosas, fried paneer, naan basket, chicken madras, aloo gobi, paneer karahi, goan curry with dhrimp, bhunna, chili chicken, mango lassi. Everything tasted so distinctively different and flavorful- it is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in this country. It was not overly salty (which is often problem when you make your dish spicy) and each dish had such amazing taste profile. Karahi had smoky, spicy flavor; aloo gobi had more cilantro; madras had nice coconut flavor and interesting spice combinations; goan curry was creamy but not heavy, with lots of amazing flavors; their samosas had great texture and stuff-pastry ratio; naan was very fluffy and not dry (garlic naan was so yummy, and I don't usually like garlic naan!); chili chicken was slightly sweet but very tasty. We also ordered gulab jamun and ras malai, a dessert I've never seen before. Gulab jamun had great texture and light syrup flavored with cardamom. Ras malai is like a sweet milk curd in creamy sauce- very yummy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]On top of the amazing food, they use nice silverware, glasses, and dishes, which makes the experience nicer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the price is really nice! Certainly worth the trip! We ordered the butter chicken (medium spice level) and the chicken korma(mild spice level) and they were both flavorful and spiced just right. The chicken was tender and cooked just right. The garlic naan was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, although it could've used a tad less butter. Service was great and fast. Second time at Zaan's for dinner. Fantastic! The staff can explain the menu and suggest a variety of different dishes. We love the variety and sharing of dishes across the table. Started with the spicy 64 chicken. Then paneer korma, butter chicken, lamb chettinad and tandoori chicken. With naan of course. They are on the rotation for sure. read more

Every time I come to Zaan, I have the most amazing experience. From the fantastic service to wonderful cuisine, I don't know what I enjoy more. I can honestly say there isn't a single dish I have tried so far that I dislike. My only complaint... I wish I lived closer! We have traveled to India numerous times, enjoyed Indian cuisine in many countries and even cook it at home. Thomasville is most fortunate to have this restaurant with such authentic and carefully prepared Indian food. Their biryanis and kormas are excellent. People new to this cuisine may want to limit the level of spice to medium but for those who want hot you can get it here. They even serve Rasmalai, our favorite Indian dessert. We posted the above review soon after Zaan opened. Since then we've enjoyed many wonderful meals. Their menu has greatly expanded featuring items from various regions of India. We are lucky to have such authentic flavors of India in Thomasville. read more

Not my usual review for a first time at a restaurant ( dropped the ball on pictures ) but it won't be our last trip so I will need to update on our next visit. Tonight my husband and I finally got to try out ZAAN.. we have talking about it and trying to make plans to come in ever since we tried their food at the Victorian Christmas event last year. We brought two of our kids with us and went in knowing nothing of Indian cuisine other than butter chicken and naan. Our waiter understood the assignment completely! Introduce us to the food. He suggested the meal for four and asked if it would be alright for him to choose our entrees. We said yes of course! The meal started out with lentil soup for everyone- very tasty and would be great for lunch on a cold day. Next came out a sampling of appetizers including the tandoori chicken which was very good. Then came out the 65 chicken- sweet followed by a great heat. Our four entree options along with rice were next: Lamb Rogan josh - probably my favorite and most likely not something I would have opted for myself on a first visit, murgh nawabi palak which was a chicken dish in a spinach purée also a delicious option, butter chicken which was super yummy and my daughters favorite ( other than the basket full of a variety of naan breads that came with which she dunked in every sauce! ) and finally another chicken dish with an onion based sauce that I can't remember the name of. AND if that wasn't already a TON of food... our culinary trip through India also included two desserts! One dessert was the gulab jamun- so much flavor! The syrup would make a great addition to a fall cocktail! The second dessert was not our favorite but that is because we didn't care for the texture and that is just a personal preference- the flavor was good. To top off the evening our server made our young son's night when he noticed he wasn't eating the dessert options and brought both he and our daughter out a mango mouse which they both LOVED! End result was a wonderful meal and lots of new things were tried. My husband and I can't wait to make a return visit for a date night- and try more new options! read more

The food is okay but overpriced and they charge extra for the naan. Naan is used like a spoon seeing that Indians typically do not use a fork or spoon. Basically they are charging you extra for utensils. Don't waste your time. But seeing that there is limited places to eat in Thomasville, I guess it's something. read more
