Been saving Zab Bite to try out for quite some time! And glad I finally made it out to the neighbourhood for a bit! I can confirm it is one of the best Thai restaurants I had as of yet. There is so much flavour in every bite! The pad sew ew was a favourite of mine. The thick clear chewy noodles were so fun and delicious to eat and the dish had so much wok hay! Curry was aromatic and fantastic with plenty of rice. The restaurant was packed and fully reserved even on a Thursday night! Would absolutely recommend this place and make sure you make a reso before hand!

Quick service and great flavor (on the spicier side). Shared 3 dishes, left content and not over full. Clean, esthetically pleasing but small restaurant. Reservations highly recommended but walk ins allowed (but expect to wait).

Bomb food, full of flavour, spicy too! You can pick your spice level. As a south East Asian, everything on the menu fits my palette so well. They are not skimping on garlic or onions, super umami. We got the pad see ew which is a must, wide chewy noodles, lots of fried egg and chicken. I would try the spiciest level next time. The coconut soup was full of mushrooms, 4 large shrimps and so hearty! The small was perfect as an appetizer for 2. And for $12, it's really good value. Most other Thai spots would charge $12 just to add shrimp. I would come back and try more on the menu next time. It's a smaller restaurant, staff is friendly.

I came here to celebrate my best friend's bday as she was craving good Thai food. Despite the mixed reviews online, most of what I heard from friends was positive. When we arrived on Friday night, there were already a few parties waiting outside. Since we made a reso, we were sat promptly and shortly after given menus and water. Since my best friend is vegan, we ordered separate dishes for ourselves and shared the deep fried tofu appetizer. There was nothing too special to say about the tofu but I found the peanut sweet and sour sauce very delicious and even kept the remnants to put onto my main dish. The cocktail was also a pleasant surprise. It was very pretty and everything one would wish for in a sweet and fruity cocktail. Mains arrived briefly after and although I did not know what to expect, I was pleased with the aroma and flavour of the stir fried thai holy basil with beef slices. The server recommended sliced beef if you prefer tender pieces as opposed to marinated beef chunks (in cubes and maybe harder to chew). There was definitely a kick of spice in it which is expected for Thai food but needless to say, I did not feel fantastic the next day (I'm not the best with spice...). My friend thoroughly enjoyed her green curry with tofu and mentioned the curry flavour stuck out to her a bit more than other places. However, she also felt the wrath of spice and was not very well the next day. She also ordered a side of roti that I sampled - but found way too greasy for my liking. Overall, this was just a small taste of the menu and I would like to return to give other menu items a try before giving a real verdict. Prices were a bit on the steeper side but I'm not sure if that's just inflation hitting everyone where it hurts most... In addition, a random observation but my best friend mentioned she felt the tables were very high relative to her height...Not sure if anyone else may feel that way but it may be something to look out for (especially if coming in with children etc.).

Salmon Sashimi Zab, Crispy Pork Toast, and Roti

The Salmon Sashimi Zab with yum sauce never disappoints. I absolutely love this dish. The sauce has lime juice, onion, and fresh herbs. The Crying Tiger was perfectly seasoned. It was enjoyable on it's own, but I really liked the sauce that came with it. It was slightly acidic with a hint of spice. The Stir-Fry Thai Holy Basil served with jasmine rice and a fried egg Chicken  was not at all what I expected. When I ordered it, I assumed it would be like a fried rice dish, but it was rice with an egg on top and chicken on the side. It was tasty, I especially liked the basil flavor, but overall it was a very simple dish. The crispy pork toast, is quite unique. The toast is slightly sweet and it was a perfect amount of pork filling to toast. I liked the vinegar sauce that came with it. The Roti was nice and flaky, but it felt very basic and I was disappointed that it didnt come with any dip. Their customer service is great. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I would recommend making reservations ahead of time as there is limited seating. There is parking in the back, but also there's plenty of street parking.

Absolutely loved B&D Authentic Vietnamese Chinese! We tried the Bún Bò Huế, lemongrass chicken, and the coconut rice cake, and everything was so flavorful and comforting. The lemongrass chicken was honestly the best I've ever had--perfectly seasoned and cooked so well. The Bún Bò Huế was rich and satisfying, and the coconut rice cake was such a great finish. I'll definitely be coming back, especially for that coconut rice cake. Highly recommend!

Was very exited to walk by and get a table for 2 before the rush of dinner hour. Benn hearing about Zab Bite - Thai E-Sarn Cuisine for over a year now. Our servers were attentive and pleasant and help us with the menu and made recommendations. We had the following: Shredded green papaya salad with fermented fish sauce and for an additional $5 we added the crispy pork skins Crispy Grilled Pork with Jaew dipping sauce Dry Mixed Tom-Yum with egg noodles Our favourites were the papaya salad (refreshing and delicious with the big punch of fish sauce and the crispy pork skin was cooked perfectly) and crispy grilled pork (the top was not that crispy, but the pork was tender and the sauce made the difference - addicting!). The dry mixed noodle was a disappointment as it was very salty and for $22 the portion was small. We did let our server know when asked how our meal was, but we ate enough of the noodles to not make a big deal to return to the kitchen. We appreciate our server didn't hesitate to return the dish to the kitchen. We also enjoyed our bright pink non-alcoholic drink as recommended by our server. Overall, I enjoyed majority of my meal but for the price and portion size, it's not a place I will be visiting more often to keep my wallet fat! I think for drinks and quick share appetizer (order from the main menu and not the starters to get a bigger portion) for my peeps. I did enjoy the flavours of north eastern Thailand and feel fortunate Vancouver has this depth of cuisine. Meter parking on Fraser Street but free side street parking

Pad si ew and basil chicken
    Natasha P.

Ordered pad si ew and basil chicken on uber eats as the reviews looked outstanding. The pad si ew was good, but the basil chicken lacked flavour and sauce (it was dry). I also noticed that they use both dark and white meat chicken so some pieces were a bit chewy.

We tried many times and finally got a reservation here, we got many things and I have to say, I think this place is pretty overhyped, given how difficult it is to get a seat and the price point, I was expecting much more. The food is lacking.

Came back again a week later and had the $40 tasting menu again. We ordered different things this time and it was still very good. There was definitely too much food for 2 people . I was so stuffed this time. Prob could have ordered à la carte and not had a few items. But overall good service and good food.

Always can rely on Zab Bite for great food. This is my go to Thai restaurant since they never disappoint - I would especially recommend their pad see ew since I find their noodle more unique/chewy than other places. Service is quick and the restaurant ambiance is good for small group of friends and family.

Having seen Zab Bite being mentioned in the Michelin Guide and an honourable mention in the 2024 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant awards, this place was on my to try list for awhile, and finally did try it recently. We made reservations well in advance. We arrived on time, and were seated immediately. Nothing to outstanding about the space - rather plain, not very big. We ended up trying the following: - Tum Pla Ra - Good. Easy. - Crispy Pork Cake - Good. Another simple, easy dish. - Pad See Ew - Good. Lots of flavour. The noodles were quite "broken" though. - Jaew Chicken - Good. Nicely prepared. - Tom Kha - Very good. Probably my favourite dish of the night. Service was standard. Nothing special. Overall, a good visit. It was good food, with good portion sizes. Not the best quality, but certainly good and easier on my wallet than most Thai restaurants. I would return.

We came on a Saturday for lunch. Service was fast but not super attentive. Food came out fast as well. Tum Thai ($15) was not super crunchy. I liked the strong garlic flavour and the sweet sauce Pad see ew ($22) with chicken. The noodles were nice and chewy. Lots of wok hey (fire flavour) which we really enjoyed. Flavour was good but we found it a bit too salty for our liking. Stir fry thai holy basil ($19) with minced pork. This dish was also a bit too salty for me. It was also lacking thai basil flavour. Wouldn't get this again Panang curry ($19) star of the show is the penang curry. It was creamy luscious. Had a punch of flavour. The lime leaves also gave it a bit of sourness. Would order this again. Crispy roti ($3) we ordered 2 servings. This goes so well with the panang curry as well as rice. It was crispy oily and really sinful. I would say it's a bit too oily but that comes with anything that is fried. Would definitely order this again Overall I would recommend you get the crispy roti and the panang curry for takeout. Make rice yourself at home to go with it.

Michelin starred quality in their service by how they explained the menu, brought out the food, came back around to refill waters. Just top notch service and elegantly so. The food was good but not of value. Their lunch set was a good introductory to what they offer. I enjoyed the food for its flavours and presentation but I thought that it was a bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. They have a patio, which has a meh view overlooking the harbor, but beware of a breezy day. It will catch a bit of a wind tunnel. They have heaters and blankets but the heaters don't really reach unless you're sitting next to it.

My partner really wanted to try their Boat Noodle for a while now so we were quite excited to try that dish. The waiter was nice and recommended a couple dishes for us. Som Tum (Papaya Salad) 3/5 The texture was nice and it tasted refreshing but it is QUITE spicy. I appreciate the authentic Thai spice level but it was too spicy for us. I liked the sourness and I know this rating is a very personal rating based on our spice tolerance. Roti with Curry Sauce 3.75/5 Nice, flaky roti that wasn't too oily. I wish there was a little more sauce. Pad See Ew with Crab Meat 4/5 Great flavor. There was a decent number of clumped up noodle but the portion was great. Good amount of crab as well. Boat Noodle Soup 4.25/5 This was the best boat noodle we had so far. Flavorful broth with generous portion of various meats. There could be an option to get more noodles but my partner got this and she was satisfied with the amount since there were good chunks of meat. Good heat that creeps up. Roselle Drink 3.75-4.5/5 Great compliment to the dishes as it lightened and refreshed our pallette. Slightly sour. It tasted better with the food than by itself. Thai Milk Tea 3.5/5 Good enough. As usual, I'm late to the party. I've heard about Phnom Penh…read moreand its famous chicken wings ever since I moved to Vancouver, nine-ish years ago. My fellow Yelpers raved about this place when I first moved here, and my kid came here with her school pals 5-6 years ago and also raved about the wings. It's been on my list to come here forever - and last night, finally, I did. It did not disappoint. My kid warned me, there'll probably be a line up waiting to get in (they don't take reservations here. I checked), so we decided to go at an off-time and get an early dinner, around 5pm on Friday. We walked there and, miracle of miracle, there was no line and we got seated right away. (Granted, we got the last vacant table in the place, and when we left after our meal, there already was a line of people waiting to get in). Food-wise...wow. I am NOT one for adventurous eating, so there were dishes on the menu I couldn't comfortably order (I wish I could, but hey, I'm better now than I used to be!). Still, there was lots for me to choose from. And first and foremost, I HAD to try the famous chicken wings. And I can honestly say, they were the best I've ever had: SO SO crunchy and crispy on the outside, and hot and moist on the inside. OMG so so so good. I can't speak highly enough of these! My kid ordered the butter beef. It was tasty and soft ("like butta!"), and the marinade was lovely, but personally, I couldn't get over the...rawness and redness of the meat and juice (which looked like blood to me). For fellow non-adventurous eaters out there, this might not be for you, despite how flavorful it tasted. It was just hard for me to get over how it looked. (I know I'm in a minority here. This dish is one of their most popular and asked-for dishes). We had the garlic dry spare ribs. I love spareribs. These were delicious but a tad too salty and greasy. I brought most of them home and had them today for lunch. I gotta say, they were so much better for me today: less salty, and I blotted off the excess grease. Delicious! My kid ordered a "small" sweet and sour soup with prawns, and wow, it came in a huge black cauldren. I can't imagine ordering a large size. Anyhow, this soup was a stand-out soup - especially for my kid who said she had dreams about it all night (lol)! So complex in flavors - spicy, sweet, savory, chock full of prawns and sprouts and lotus shoots and pineapple chunks and and other delicious stuff.... For me, it was a wee tad too spicy, but wow, even I thought, this is a special soup. So delicious and warming. 10/10. Our servers were prompt and impressively able to efficiently tend to a full house of diners. They got it all down to a science here. One issue of note: my kid had to use the washroom at one point and she left for a very extended period of time. I actually thought at one point that something had happened to her or she was ill, she was gone so long (VERY unlike her). When she returned, she told me it was "quite a hike", around the back of the restaurant and up a flight of stairs, too. I only make note of this in case anyone has mobility issues, know that the bathroom will be difficult (or impossible) for you to access.
