Zahir's Famous Prime Rib (12oz, cooked medium)
    Ms G.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice together and I myself have been here about 5 times with my family. All experiences were fantastic! What we liked: 1. Food (try the famous prime rib, you won't regret it) We ordered the prime rib 12oz, cooked medium. Came out within about 15 min or more. Cooked evenly and very satisfying. The prime rib was so good my boyfriend insisted on ordering another one Togo! I usually get Cioppino, unfortunately at this time during COVID restrictions they said they were not able to get the ingredients needed for this lovely meal, but I highly recommend it once they do start serving this again. 10/10 the best Cioppino I ever had. The pasta nicely complements the sauce. The sauce is so flavorful, I usually squeeze lemons on everything I eat just to give it a little more flavor, but I don't need to add anything extra on this. 2. Drinks (they do not hold back on alcohol) I ordered an AMF and not only was it good, but it definitely did the job! Most restaurants I've been to hold back on their alcohol. Maybe because I'm small? Lol. Well there's no holding back over here. You get your money's worth for sure. 3. Service (they don't forget about you) Every time I've been here service has been nothing but welcoming. Good timing and they will get you what you need when you need it. BONUS: Good company (Zahir, himself) The owner, Zahir, has been one of THE nicest restaurant owners I ever met. He'll talk to you every now and then to make sure you've enjoyed your meal and to see how you're doing. I believe that he genuinely cares about the people and his restaurant is a reflection of that. We'll most definitely come here again, and make this place a part of our regular restaurant rotation :)

Take home food, i dont know what to do with this so called" famous Prime Rib"

Dont bother to try , nothing was good . Appetizers, Steak, Pasta ... all were unsatisfied, spolied our holiday party 's mood.

I'm enjoying their happy hour 5:30-7:30. Good line up for apps and drinks. Somehow it's $$$ on yelp but Ya more likely $$ unless you order bottle of wine. Highly recommend it for the romantic dinner, casual date, and group hang out.

Steak Zahir as it comes. Flour in the sauce. I had to return this beauty!

I believe this is one of the most flavourful steaks I've had in some time. If you follow my posts at all, you know I can eat some steaks! I'm also grain and gluten free so it's sometimes a challenge to find good food that fits my desires. Zahir's service was great, food was awesome and presentation was top notch! Nageena waited on me, along with other coworkers. The teamwork among the staff is amazing. No one was put out when they stopped at my table to make sure I had. Everything. I. Wanted. Excellent service, excellent food, very fairly priced! I'll be back! .

Came by for dinner the other night. Made a same day reservation with Zahir and he was very courteous over the phone. Upon arrival, his restaurant was both relatively basic and modern. Started off with the complimentary bread and it was okay. ...not too hard and not too soft. Moved on to the appetizer sampler and it was good. The stuffed mushrooms were okay and the Cajun prawns were of decent size. The calamari was pretty fresh and wasn't overly fried. At $21, it was on the pricier side. Moved on to the pear salad and the greens were very fresh. According to the menu, they were organic too at $6! Our main course was the 12 oz prime rib which was excellent. The flavoring on the crust was excellent and the meat came out medium rare. The meat quality was top notch and very smooth. The $26 dish also came with fresh asparagus and mashed potatoes. The biggest disappointment of the evening were the desserts. Both the tiramisu and chocolate mousse at $8 each were both store bought and very mediocre, especially at this type of establishment. ...if only the desserts were homemade, this place can earn my 5 stars! :D Service was very courteous and thorough by Leah and Zahir. ...what's all the noise with his old location and being evicted after being behind by $20k?!?

Prime rib was ok but the star of this plate for me was the mashed taters!

Zahir's is a restaurant on Main St that I've driven past countless times and never paid much attention to on my way to the mall. However that all changed on Saturday night at 8PM when I searched 'steak'. This place is a diamond in the rough! Fresh, warm bread & butter to start. The menu has a great selection of steak, chicken, and pasta dishes. The staff was very attentive and the service was top notch. Prices are kind of steep for Milpitas but the portions are very generous! My medium rare prime rib was slightly tough for my taste but everything else was amazing. I wouldn't object to coming back anytime soon for a special occasion.

    Cheers to 50 years

Thanks again, Zahir, Evelyn and your staff for making our celebration a success. Your attentiveness, friendliness and attention to detailed was impeccable. Everyone raved about the food, so thank you for that. We will certainly recommend Zahir for the next event!

They do have vegetarian options. But there is not much of a selection, I think there are 2 pasta dishes that are vegetarian and a couple salad choices.

Nice Casual or above is fine, I think

There aren't many businesses in this complex so there's always plenty of parking. I inside of the restaurant was small but had plenty of tables. It was a slow day on that weekday early dinner time. We asked to order our items for take out. We waited not too long as I remember. How was the food? Fried Calamari- for only being a couple minutes away I wonder why the calamari was already almost cold when we ate it. It was pretty disappointing. Maybe they just had it in the box while they waited for the rest of our order. I don't know. Flavor was good. Pizza Primavera - It was good, I was okay with it. The pizza dough wasn't my favorite but it was fine. White Pasta - I honestly don't remember what the name was but it was an item my bf ordered. This was terrible. Like there was too much roux to make the bechamel. It tasted of flour. Not much salt, not much of other flavors. Not enough milk and cheese and butter. He took a bite and put it down. Overall, glad we tried it but we might not be coming back. With the economy now, it's disappointing when the food is terrible for how much we pay for.

Came here on a weekday for dinner and it was mostly empty. We got the chicken parm and the margherita pizza. With the margherita pizza, the dough was obviously bought premade and frozen. It was dry and hard as expected from a premade frozen pizza dough. Not sure if the whole thing was bought frozen. There was generous amounts of cheese with one sad basil leaf of each quarter. One positive thing I can add about the pizza is that the cheese does have a satisfying flavor, giving me a nostalgic flashback to school lunch pizza. As for the pasta, the chicken has a strange taste (maybe too strong on a vodka marinade?). There was way too much sauce for the amount of pasta, and it had a very light and bright flavor, not terrible but definitely lacking depth and any nuances of aromatics or herbs. The chicken was not breaded and instead grilled. Servers were attentive, but seemed to have a lot of staff mostly standing around.

We ordered two Pollo Saltimbocca dishes (one with a cream pasta substitution for an additional $8), the Pollo al Limone, and a half bottle of Chardonnay. The restaurant offers one indoor dining area and two outdoor seating areas--one in the front and one in the back--which gives guests plenty of seating options. The food was a bit saltier than our personal preference. The cream pasta substitution, despite the extra charge, wasn't anything particularly memorable compared to similar dishes we've had at other restaurants. However, the highlight of our visit was definitely the warm and welcoming customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel appreciated. We also appreciate that the restaurant closes for a few hours in the afternoon before reopening for dinner service. It's nice to see a business that gives its staff a break during the day. Parking can be a bit challenging due to the busy neighborhood. Be aware that street parking is paid, and most spots have a two-hour limit, so you'll need to keep an eye on the time. Overall, we'd come back to try more of the pasta dishes on the menu and hope to discover a new favorite.

We checked in at the front desk and were escorted to our table. Our server Manny took excellent care of us from beginning to end. He gave us excellent recommendations on things to try, which we really appreciated. We started off the evening with some cocktails. My husband tried the Kickin' Old Fashioned and I tried the Margarita Italiano, that was recommended by Manny. My husband enjoyed his drink and I loved the Margarita Italiano. It was so good! For our appetizer, Manny recommended his personal favorite, which was the Burrata Con Prosciutto. We decided to try it and I'm so glad we did. It was so delicious. He poured a bit of balsamic vinegar on top of the Burrata, and it really made the dish superb. The Prosciutto melted in my mouth and paired perfectly with the Burrata, balsamic vinegar and arugula. We will definitely get that again in the future. For our main dishes, Manny recommended the Linguine Mare Chiaro. I decided to try that and my husband ordered the Ippglosso Con Limone E Capperi, from their house specials menu. Our dishes arrived fresh and hot. My Linguine Mare Chiaro had clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops in a roasted cherry tomato and white wine sauce. It was delicious. The linguine was cooked perfectly and seafood portions were generous. My husband's dish, Ippglosso Con Limone E Capperi, was a pan seared halibut fillet with a lemon caper sauce served with asparagus and mashed potatoes. We both enjoyed our main dishes. My husband was happily surprised he got two pieces of halibut. Both dishes were delicious and filling. Manny took excellent care of us and gave us the best recommendations. We had a wonderful experience dining here and look forward to many more in the future. I hope we are lucky enough to have Manny again, as our server. When I called to ask if there were any reservations available for tonight, her immediate response was, "Absolutely not." Before I had the opportunity to ask any follow-up questions or explain my situation, the conversation felt abruptly shut down. Moments later, she added that she could possibly fit us in at 8:00 p.m., depending on the size of our party. I told her that I found her initial response unprofessional because she didn't take the time to explain the situation from the start. A more courteous response would have been to let me know that reservations were full but that there might be a possibility of accommodating us later in the evening. She apologized and said she would respond differently next time, which I appreciated. However, as a manager, first impressions and customer service matter. The way customers are spoken to--especially over the phone when they're simply trying to make a reservation--sets the tone for the entire dining experience. I hope this feedback helps improve how future guests are greeted and assisted.

We were a a party of 4 adults, one of whom is 90yr old and has mobility challenges. I informed our hostess and asked for a round table near the front to accommodate his lack of hearing, vision, his need for a bathroom, and his mobility. We were seated at a round table in the back right of the restaurant. Upon sitting down, I noticed My bread plate had food on it. My mother's fork had food on it. Told the waitress who simply replaced our plate and fork with ones from a neighboring table, leaving the dirty dishes in its place. Two of the napkins at our table were paper trifold, the other two were bar napkins. Cloth napkins were placed at all the tables around us. When we asked our waitress why we didn't have cloth napkins, she told us it's because their order didn't deliver and refused to give us napkins, concluding that they weren't seating anyone at those tables. We questioned if we were supposed to use the bar napkin and she said yes. Once she walked away, I retrieved 3 sets of silverware from a neighboring table. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night-- we felt her attitude was absurd. Two orders of Focaccia arrived with 2 glasses of water, 1 Starry and 1 Dr. Pepper. After a few sips, I had to flag down our waitress to ask for ice water, as the Dr Pepper tasted like watered down caramel without carbonation. She acted as though it was an imposition to replace my soda with water. No appetizers ordered, but I ordered a fresh greens salad with my entree. The greens were drenched in vinaigrette. Every piece of lettuce was dripping wet, with a pool of liquid in the bottom of the bowl. Very unappetizing. Entrees ordered: 3 Shrimp Portofino, 1 order Spaghetti with meatballs and bolognese sauce. It took 45min for the food to arrive after ordering. All 3 Shrimp Portofinos lacked seasoning. The capellini didn't taste salted, and each dish was swimming in oil. Each of us remarked that our dish lacked flavor: garlic, salt, pepper, fresh herbs etc. The shrimp was bland. I found and counted 5 pine nuts in my dish, when the menu eluted to a dish filled with them. One person added a ton of table salt and pepper to their dish in order to eat it. My mother and myself ate the shrimp and pushed the capellini aside to see how much oil was in the dish. We ended up not eating it. Our server never came by to ask how are meals tasted or if anything was wrong. After she delivered the bill and asked us to buy dessert, we then began telling her how disappointing this meal was and had she checked on us, we would have told her and perhaps we could have had our order remade or placed a different entree. Our server acted as though it was her last shift and she didn't care. She asked if we wanted a manager and we said No, that we were just being honest with her about our experience. Again, she didn't care. This experience was by far the worst we've had. Next time we're feeling up to eating

My boyfriend ordered the thousand layer lasagna and really enjoyed it. I ordered the rigatoni and thought it was just okay. I didn't realize the dish didn't come with protein so it felt like the dish was missing something. The sauce itself was nice but for some reason, some of the pasta was undercooked and some of it was al dente. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate pudding and tiramisu. The presentation was so beautiful. Both my boyfriend and I loved the pudding most -- I would definitely order this again. The tiramisu wasn't bad but it would've been better if it had a stronger coffee taste and if it was a little more moist. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and definitely made our visit feel special. She paid attention to the small details like helping us label our boxes, which I've never had anyone do before. On a completely unrelated note, I was surprised to find the bathrooms are shared between both genders. While there are separate stalls, the sink area is shared, which I wasn't expecting for a nicer restaurant like this. But I would say overall the food was hit or miss but the service and experience overall was amazing:)

A wonderful spot for a Sunday brunch in Downtown San Jose. If you're looking for more breakfast…read moreitems, this spot isn't it (2 options like eggs and French toast) so visit to enjoy the homemade pastas and other Italian comfort dishes. This visit: :: Garlic bread - Friend raved about the bread and ordered. Simple, charred, thick slices of Acme Italian Batard with parmesan. Not something I would've ordered but crispy, garlicky and worth a try. 3/5 :: Mushroom arancini (3) - delicious crisp exterior of panko with soft, creamy interior of rice and mushrooms atop parsnip puree which gives a hint of sweetness - 4/5 :: ROLLATI'S Caesar Salad - friend's dish...she was happy the dressing didn't taste fishy or have whole anchovies. I would've snagged her anchovies...dressing had a good balance of ingredients that coated the greens nicely with croutons and Parmesan crisps - 4/5 :: "Thousand Layer Lasagne" - one of their signature dishes. Loved the flavor, texture, presentation of this dish with beef rib ragu. This is the dish to try at least once. 4/5 :: Tiramisu - light, not overly sweet with a nice coffee flavor. 4/5 Enjoyable items and would return for dinner or happy hour. Our server, Ashley was friendly and attentive despite covering multiple tables. Ambiance is beautiful, modern, but not stuffy. Acoustics make it hard to hear across the table and with a DJ playing at 12:00ish made it even harder. Fortunately, music was vibing with a mix of various genres and decades: starting from Billy Ocean, Bobby Brown, Selena...etc. Overall, 3.5 - 4 stars! Pricing on the higher side and a nice treat for a special occasion. Street parking available and scored a spot directly in front at 1145 (Sunday) with paid parking garage nearby.
