Zahir's Famous Prime Rib (12oz, cooked medium)
    Ms G.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice together and I myself have been here about 5 times with my family. All experiences were fantastic! What we liked: 1. Food (try the famous prime rib, you won't regret it) We ordered the prime rib 12oz, cooked medium. Came out within about 15 min or more. Cooked evenly and very satisfying. The prime rib was so good my boyfriend insisted on ordering another one Togo! I usually get Cioppino, unfortunately at this time during COVID restrictions they said they were not able to get the ingredients needed for this lovely meal, but I highly recommend it once they do start serving this again. 10/10 the best Cioppino I ever had. The pasta nicely complements the sauce. The sauce is so flavorful, I usually squeeze lemons on everything I eat just to give it a little more flavor, but I don't need to add anything extra on this. 2. Drinks (they do not hold back on alcohol) I ordered an AMF and not only was it good, but it definitely did the job! Most restaurants I've been to hold back on their alcohol. Maybe because I'm small? Lol. Well there's no holding back over here. You get your money's worth for sure. 3. Service (they don't forget about you) Every time I've been here service has been nothing but welcoming. Good timing and they will get you what you need when you need it. BONUS: Good company (Zahir, himself) The owner, Zahir, has been one of THE nicest restaurant owners I ever met. He'll talk to you every now and then to make sure you've enjoyed your meal and to see how you're doing. I believe that he genuinely cares about the people and his restaurant is a reflection of that. We'll most definitely come here again, and make this place a part of our regular restaurant rotation :)

Dont bother to try , nothing was good . Appetizers, Steak, Pasta ... all were unsatisfied, spolied our holiday party 's mood.

I'm enjoying their happy hour 5:30-7:30. Good line up for apps and drinks. Somehow it's $$$ on yelp but Ya more likely $$ unless you order bottle of wine. Highly recommend it for the romantic dinner, casual date, and group hang out.

service is no nice and considerate , not crowded place if you are seeking quite place to talk. We have been here 6 year ago and everything keep the same . Very nice !

Steak Zahir as it comes. Flour in the sauce. I had to return this beauty!

I believe this is one of the most flavourful steaks I've had in some time. If you follow my posts at all, you know I can eat some steaks! I'm also grain and gluten free so it's sometimes a challenge to find good food that fits my desires. Zahir's service was great, food was awesome and presentation was top notch! Nageena waited on me, along with other coworkers. The teamwork among the staff is amazing. No one was put out when they stopped at my table to make sure I had. Everything. I. Wanted. Excellent service, excellent food, very fairly priced! I'll be back! .

Came by for dinner the other night. Made a same day reservation with Zahir and he was very courteous over the phone. Upon arrival, his restaurant was both relatively basic and modern. Started off with the complimentary bread and it was okay. ...not too hard and not too soft. Moved on to the appetizer sampler and it was good. The stuffed mushrooms were okay and the Cajun prawns were of decent size. The calamari was pretty fresh and wasn't overly fried. At $21, it was on the pricier side. Moved on to the pear salad and the greens were very fresh. According to the menu, they were organic too at $6! Our main course was the 12 oz prime rib which was excellent. The flavoring on the crust was excellent and the meat came out medium rare. The meat quality was top notch and very smooth. The $26 dish also came with fresh asparagus and mashed potatoes. The biggest disappointment of the evening were the desserts. Both the tiramisu and chocolate mousse at $8 each were both store bought and very mediocre, especially at this type of establishment. ...if only the desserts were homemade, this place can earn my 5 stars! :D Service was very courteous and thorough by Leah and Zahir. ...what's all the noise with his old location and being evicted after being behind by $20k?!?

Prime rib was ok but the star of this plate for me was the mashed taters!

Zahir's is a restaurant on Main St that I've driven past countless times and never paid much attention to on my way to the mall. However that all changed on Saturday night at 8PM when I searched 'steak'. This place is a diamond in the rough! Fresh, warm bread & butter to start. The menu has a great selection of steak, chicken, and pasta dishes. The staff was very attentive and the service was top notch. Prices are kind of steep for Milpitas but the portions are very generous! My medium rare prime rib was slightly tough for my taste but everything else was amazing. I wouldn't object to coming back anytime soon for a special occasion.

    Cheers to 50 years

Thanks again, Zahir, Evelyn and your staff for making our celebration a success. Your attentiveness, friendliness and attention to detailed was impeccable. Everyone raved about the food, so thank you for that. We will certainly recommend Zahir for the next event!

They do have vegetarian options. But there is not much of a selection, I think there are 2 pasta dishes that are vegetarian and a couple salad choices.

I had it in Japan and it changed my understanding of how delicious food could be. I'll always dream about a particular pasta dish I had near Kyoto Station...but I digress. If you've never had Japanese pasta, it's sort of difficult to describe. Think of Italian pasta, but if the sauce were less thick and there were a greater variety of flavors and textures. I think it's an overall cleaner and more varied experience. I prefer it. When done well, it has a certain quality that keeps you addicted. You can keep eating it and savoring every bite without feeling weighed down. I just love it. La Casa Mia does it well. In fact, out of every restaurant I've tried that attempts Japanese pasta, this place comes the closest by far. It might even match it. During my most recent visit, I tried the uni (sea urchin) pasta. Amazing. But the standout menu item, everyone, is the Salmon Shimeji. Oh, I love it so much. So savory. Little chunks of salmon, with roe, dainty little mushrooms, and all kinds of other ingredients perfectly cooked blended. A sauce that warms your soul and makes you want to keep eating. I honestly wish I could describe it better, but ironically, my favorite dish in the entire Bay Area is so good that I can't describe it. You'll just have to try it yourself. If they ever take the Salmon Shimeji off the menu, I will probably literally cry. I need this. When things in life get rough, I go for this dish. I have not found anything in the U.S. that matches it. Oh, and the service was fantastic. The lady who helped us most recently was very attentive, thanked us profusely, and was unfailingly polite. Gosh, I felt so taken care of. Yeah. La Casa Mia. My actual favorite restaurant. Love it.

I would understand Asian fusion between two Asian countries, but this is different since it's quite unusual to blend Asian and European ingredients. It was quite packed when I got here and the place is small. It's a good thing that I was able to get a seat. I wanted to take more pictures but there were too many people. At the same time, the place is very nice here especially with the decorations they have here. I was scrolling through the menu and there was a menu item that has pork cutlet, but I have been having that type of cutlet numerous times already. So I decided to get the Salmon Shimeji instead. Next time, I'll get the other one. The food is good though. At the same time, it doesn't really surprise me since it's kinda like something you can make at home. However, the ingredients are fresh and the salmon is good. They used spaghetti pasta to make this dish and there are baby fish eggs and tall, small mushrooms called shimeji. I wasn't really too full at the end, but this is good news since I don't have to feel tired. One of the staff asked me if I can look at their desserts and I did. However, I didn't get any of them since I'm trying to cut back on my eating. This was quite the experience I have here. I saw one of the customers have one of the pizzas and am thinking of having that or the pork cutlet one. Probably should get one of the desserts next time. Until then.

There aren't many businesses in this complex so there's always plenty of parking. I inside of the restaurant was small but had plenty of tables. It was a slow day on that weekday early dinner time. We asked to order our items for take out. We waited not too long as I remember. How was the food? Fried Calamari- for only being a couple minutes away I wonder why the calamari was already almost cold when we ate it. It was pretty disappointing. Maybe they just had it in the box while they waited for the rest of our order. I don't know. Flavor was good. Pizza Primavera - It was good, I was okay with it. The pizza dough wasn't my favorite but it was fine. White Pasta - I honestly don't remember what the name was but it was an item my bf ordered. This was terrible. Like there was too much roux to make the bechamel. It tasted of flour. Not much salt, not much of other flavors. Not enough milk and cheese and butter. He took a bite and put it down. Overall, glad we tried it but we might not be coming back. With the economy now, it's disappointing when the food is terrible for how much we pay for.

Came here on a weekday for dinner and it was mostly empty. We got the chicken parm and the margherita pizza. With the margherita pizza, the dough was obviously bought premade and frozen. It was dry and hard as expected from a premade frozen pizza dough. Not sure if the whole thing was bought frozen. There was generous amounts of cheese with one sad basil leaf of each quarter. One positive thing I can add about the pizza is that the cheese does have a satisfying flavor, giving me a nostalgic flashback to school lunch pizza. As for the pasta, the chicken has a strange taste (maybe too strong on a vodka marinade?). There was way too much sauce for the amount of pasta, and it had a very light and bright flavor, not terrible but definitely lacking depth and any nuances of aromatics or herbs. The chicken was not breaded and instead grilled. Servers were attentive, but seemed to have a lot of staff mostly standing around.

The food was a bit saltier than our personal preference. The cream pasta substitution, despite the extra charge, wasn't anything particularly memorable compared to similar dishes we've had at other restaurants. However, the highlight of our visit was definitely the warm and welcoming customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel appreciated. We also appreciate that the restaurant closes for a few hours in the afternoon before reopening for dinner service. It's nice to see a business that gives its staff a break during the day. Parking can be a bit challenging due to the busy neighborhood. Be aware that street parking is paid, and most spots have a two-hour limit, so you'll need to keep an eye on the time. After a few recommendations from our server, we decided to try: Mushroom Arancini (10/10): These are amazing, as soon as they brought it out, we can both instantly smelled the truffle oil. The exterior were crispy & pipping hot, the inside has creamy mushroom. It was certain my favorite of the night! Rigatoni alla Vodka (8/10): A solid pasta! The sauce was great and balanced. We started with the garlic bread for appetizers. It was well presented but I think it would've been well paired with some sort of dipping sauce because it was a little dry. My boyfriend ordered the thousand layer lasagna and really enjoyed it. I ordered the rigatoni and thought it was just okay. I didn't realize the dish didn't come with protein so it felt like the dish was missing something. The sauce itself was nice but for some reason, some of the pasta was undercooked and some of it was al dente. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate pudding and tiramisu. The presentation was so beautiful. Both my boyfriend and I loved the pudding most -- I would definitely order this again. The tiramisu wasn't bad but it would've been better if it had a stronger coffee taste and if it was a little more moist. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and definitely made our visit feel special. She paid attention to the small details like helping us label our boxes, which I've never had anyone do before. On a completely unrelated note, I was surprised to find the bathrooms are shared between both genders. While there are separate stalls, the sink area is shared, which I wasn't expecting for a nicer restaurant like this. But I would say overall the food was hit or miss but the service and experience overall was amazing:)
