You may have seen this recently on Google Reviews, but wanted to post on Yelp as well. I ate recently at Zait Bistro because of good reviews and a craving for Middle Eastern food. My experience here was a sore let down. Following hours of shopping and walking at the nearby Victoria Gardens, I search for some restaurants and Zait Bistro pops up on my Google search. I ordered a lamb shawarma shrak sandwich and a side of fries (the fries were $5!!!) and the total was $17. I realized food wasn't gonna be cheap, but for $17 I was expecting some quality food. Well, I received food but it was hardly of any quality. The shawarma came out cold, and I'm 99% sure the shrak bread was stale, because biting through that bread was literally a full-on workout for my jaw. The bread was so tough. The food was not only cold and hard to eat, but also lacked any real flavor. Genuinely, it just had no flavor. Then I open up my french fries only to be further disappointed by the most fat, uncrispy, mushy, unsalted fries. The fries were cut terribly, and were basically just chunks of potato. It was actually worse that cold mcdonald's french fries. I've been to good mediterranean/middle eastern restaurants before, and this 100% isn't it. I don't know if covid lowered quality or something, but the food was just genuinely bad. I'll never come here again, and would rate it 0 stars if I could. I wish no ill on the owners but I despise the food and it's quality. EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNER COMMENT: I drove 15 minutes to the restaurant and once I got my food, I drove back home and ate the food. Not all of us want to drive another 30 minutes round trip to get replacement food that would have probably been equally poor quality. We've been wanting to visit this place for awhile now. We finally had a chance to stop by for dinner and we loved it! We got the falafel sandwich with the shrak wrap (shrak is like lavash) We initially wanted the pita bread, but the owner told us that they don't get the Pita bread delivered on Sunday so it wouldn't taste fresh. Once you place the order they call you up and ask you what condiments you want inside. You can get a wide range of things like the yogurt cucumber salad, tabouleh, hummus, spicy sauce, cabbage salad, etc. all are delicious! The falafel patty itself is so delicious! Very soft and tastes fresh. Has a lot of flavor and they definitely don't skimp out on anything here, the sandwich is huge! We will definitely be back soon! read more

I tried Zait Bistro for the first time today and I'd give it a 3 1/2 to a 4. Yelp doesn't let us give "halves" so I'm giving it a 4. I ordered half beef half lamb skewers medium rare. The meat was tasty, but more well done than medium rare. With a yelp check in you get a free cabbage salad. It was too salty as was the rice. The hummus was okay, but didn't taste super fresh. That's why I ordered from Zait Fontana and I got my order there ofcourse I was charged for that which is okey.So that happened last January 27, the next day to my disappointment while I'm checking all my transactions on line with by bank account , i realized I was charge twice. Ordered and paid online today for a whole chicken and beef shawarma, I arrived 45 minutes later after getting a confirmation text that my order was ready. Once I arrived, the person at the counter said that the ticket never printed and I would have to wait an additional 45 minutes if I wanted my food. Definitely not something you want to hear after a long day coming from work. Barely an apology was given, and they offered no consolidation or alternative besides waiting the 45 minutes. Rediculous how garlicky it tasted. Could've spread that on everything and would've tasted better. The actual protein was slightly dry and could've used more flavor. Grape leaves were ok, not the best thing in the world. Overall, it was a good experience. Place is clean and efficient. Food was good and not too expensive. I really like the food here, despite the cost and shrinking sides. I get that it's a rough time for everyone so live still ordered take out. I want to support local business since it's one of the better Mediterranean places in the area and have been coming last couple of weeks but I'm not sure I'm comfortable getting take out anymore. No employee is wearing a mask. One of the cooks has a long bushy beard and doesn't even wear any kind of netting. I though I as the only one bothered but others waiting for they're food shared the same sentiment. Really good Mediterranean place in Rancho! Definitely 5/5 for the food. My boyfriend and I shared a large chicken shwarama combo plate, and the meat was really fresh, moist, and flavorful. The accompanying pita bread was warm (actually quite hot) and went really well with the side of hummus. And the garlic sauce for the chicken was uh-maz-ing. We came on a Saturday evening around 6:30 and there was no wait in the line, with a family of 5 and one guy waiting at tables for their food. Plenty of seating and kinda quiet for a Saturday dinner I thought, but 10 mins later the place became packed (enough that there weren't enough seats for everyone, so there's a good chance you won't have a place to sit). The main reason why I gave this place a 4 and not a 5 was because of the wait. Because they make it so fresh (and yummy), it took about 10-15 mins to get our food. Probably depends on how many people are ahead of you, but it's definitely not a grab 'n go kind of place. Worth the wait for sure though, as long as you're not in a rush. So if you can tell I've been on a Mediterranean kick lately! Today's craving bought me to Zait! Mmmmmmmm good! I ordered the shrimp kabob plate; shrimp very tender and juicy, marinated in Mediterranean spices and char-grilled. Love the fact that they offer a different rice, to me better than the normal basmati rice (not a fan of), it also came with hummus and I selected a white cabbage salad ALL, I mean EVERY SINGLE BITE was delicious! Pita bread along with the garlic sauce was ALSO included! They also have plate sizes of small, medium and large which is really good! I ordered a medium and saved half for lunch tomorrow, can't beat that! Food came out fairly quickly, tables were clean as well as the inside. Cashier was pleasant. This is one of my favorite types of food and it's hard finding a place that does it right. I believe I found it. I would always pass it but never stopped in until one day I did. I don't regret it one bit. It was so good I had it back to back, 2 days in a row. First day I tried the beef shawarma and the next day chicken, both great. Had both plates with the Mediterranean salad and cucumber yogurt salad. Also tried their baklava, great as well. I also tried 2 different locations, Rancho/Fontana, both great , so they have consistency and quality. Definitely recommend giving it a try. Edit: Both of these plates are a small which is insane. Fresh Mediterranean food with good portions and typical menu choices. Interior could use an update. This is an order at the front and wait for your food to be prepared type of venue. I went with the Veggie Skewer with taboulleh and fattoush as the sides. The skewer came with eggplant, tomato, bell pepper, onion, and mushroom, but no onion or mushroom was to be found on my dish.... You are able to customize your portion size from small, medium, and large for each protein choice, which is a big plus. It took awhile for everything to come out, but the flavors were solid. The portion size was large and I was stuffed. Besides the food taking a bit long to come out, my other criticisms are that the interior seating is inadequate with only four tables for a grand total of 16 patrons. I almost had to take mine to-go even though I was wanting to eat in. Indeed, almost everyone had their food for carry-out. It's not an issue as the food is served already in to-go containers regardless, a pet-peeve of mine. I understand why, so they don't have to wash dishes, but it's just environmentally irresponsible in my opinion to put even the eat on premise orders in styrofoam. It's commonplace for Mediterranean food, so they are just copying the formula. Other than that, your choices for healthy, vegetarian and keto/low carb food are highly limited in this part of the Inland Empire. So, Zait Bistro is an oasis in this healthy food desert. There are so many Mediterranean food restaurants in the area- thankfully! This one is in my top 3 for sure..I usually get combo plate with kefta. Their kefta is juicy and so flavorful, I couldn't stop eating it to be honest. The rice was buttery and just perfect and I really love their hummus although it tends to be on the thin side. The service is ok, they are always busy just trying to fill orders. Best to try and order online or walk in but be prepared to wait. Calling in order is a hit and miss because of how busy they are. Add some of the garlic sauce to your chicken and it's a hearty plate of delicious food. Even after stuffing my face I almost always have leftovers. Zait Bistro compares favorably with other Mediterranean restaurants I've been to. Service is good, if a bit slow (although they do have a warning posted that they're not serving fast food). First time ordering here as our usual place has closed down. Ordered 3 plates two chicken one beef. So first off I was just hungry I didn't really glimpse at the menu just called and ordered. I just wanted chicken , rice , salad , and hummus with pita bread. I ordered wrong not knowing the chicken plate came with rice and when they asked what side I wanted I said rice and salad . Rice shouldn't even be a side option when it already comes in the plate. Chicken shawarma was good . Rice was moist and flavorful. The beef had absolutely no flavor. Paid $60 for 3 plates no hummus but came with pita bread and garlic. Overall I would order from here again just would order differently.
