Food was good. Service was okay. I understand certain items take some time to cook. We ordered two separate meals, of which we were told would take up to 20 minutes to prepare. We asked for the sides now, so we have something to munch on while we are waiting. Apparently my guest and I ordered the same sides, but the server put both our sides in the same container. My guest didn't know, so they started double dipping their pita bread in the hummus container. I had to go back to ask the server/cashier to put them in separate plates. She very unapologetically went in the back and separated them. I am not positive she gave us new hummus or just split the one my guest double dipped into. Anyways the food was good, but the service was not so much. Why would two guests who ordered separate plates eat a salad or hummus out of the same container? Edit:. Business contends we were okay with both sides in the same container! We would never ask to share our food in the same container and by default all restaurants pack the sides in separate containers. The only reason a business would pack it like that is to save money. The 2 star review is really for the poor attitude from the girl who misunderstood what we wanted. Very unapologetic. Decided to give this place a try. We got the lamb/beef shawarma plate with the grape leaves and cucumber dill yogurt. It came with rice, naan, and their garlic sauce and we paid for their green sauce. The grape leaves were okay, for sure not the best that I've had. The garlic sauce was decent flavored and not too strong. The naan was store bought (at least to me it seemed that way). The cucumber dill yogurt had a good amount of cucumber which was appreciated and pretty tasty. The meat was dry so we added the green sauce which was spicy, but for sure necessary on the meat and the rice well it was alright too. Got the baklava for checking in and it was alright too, tasted a little old. Next time I'll go to Sacas or Garnish, but at least I gave it a try. read more

This place is directly across the street from us so we have given it plenty of chances. First, it is insanely over-priced. In previous review the claim "it's because of the fresh ingredients", but so do 99% of restaurants of similar quality. The chicken and beef "shawarma" are always flavorless and are cooked on the flat top, so not only do you not get the benefit of spit cooking, it also takes FOREVER. The majority of times that I have been there a simple chicken shawarma combo takes 20-30 minutes. Also the staff are hit and miss, some have been helpful and kind and some are completely dismissive. Either way, there are plenty of options within a mile now, so just go somewhere else read more

I use to go to this place all the time. I decided to grab dinner here since I was in the area. When arriving a woman took my order. She seemed like she didn't want to be there. After taking my order, I think she went in the back and I didn't see her until I finished my dinner and left (which was like an hour). While waiting for my dinner (which I know takes a while to cook), I was observing the back area where they cook the food. I noticed there were two gentleman. One in the front area and one cooking at the grill. The gentleman in the front area had a long beard which wasn't even covered with a hair net, which I thought was unsanitary. I know some places that require beards to be covered when serving food. When a customer came in, there was no cashier to be found... where was the lady that took my order? The gentleman with the long beard was preparing a sandwich (which I think was mine) and there was no one to take this customer's order, the the gentleman with the beard had the sandwich in one hand and took the customer's order with his other hand. Whether or not this customer paid cash or card... again unsanitary doing something else with food in your hand that you will be serving to someone. Food: When I got my order there were a few things wrong. I got the wrong order, no biggie. The gentleman (with the beard) gave me the wrong order and mine was ready in the back. When I went back to tell him they gave me the wrong order he was busy on the phone, so I waited for a few minutes to get my order. Again, where is this cashier lady to help out? When I got my order, the rice was cold and hard, my pita bread wasn't even warmed up, I never got my baklava, and I didn't even get garlic spread, which I think is suppose to come with my order. The only thing I liked about my order was the meat was cooked to my liking and the falafel was hot when I got it. I gave two stars but if I could I would give one and a half. One star for cleanliness and half star for having half my order correct. Other than that, I don't think I'll be coming back here. read more

Why have I prolonged checking out Zait?? I finally had the opportunity to try it last night, and oh.my.goodness. Sooo good! I'm inclined to agree with those Yelpers before me that have stated that this is the best Mediterranean food they've had. Zait definitely stands out as one of the better Mediterranean food experiences I've had, and I've had many! I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich, expecting to have a smaller meal; it turned out to be huge, but it was so delicious that I didn't mind having a larger portion than expected! It was bursting with flavor. I seriously cannot wait to go back! As others have posted, the wait times are a bit longer. I think it took me 20 minutes to get my sandwich, but they do have the wait times posted for each of the types of meals you order because they make their food fresh! I'm so happy there's a good mediterranean food restaurant in Rancho now! I got the falafel plate with the Mediterranean salad and tabbouleh on the side. I might switch up the tabbouleh choice next time since it was a bit heavy on the parsley for my taste but it was great sprinkled onto the pitas when I stuffed all of my food in there. The falafel was delicious, as was the rice, and the salad was the perfect refreshing topper on my plate. The garlic sauce they gave us was delicious as well. I've had the beef/lamb shawarma a few times and it's delicious. The small plates are enough to fill most people. Medium feels like too much. Never tried large but I imagine that it should be shared. Food is great and prices are fair. It is on the heavy side with lots of fats and oils so keep that in mind. Place can get packed during lunch hours which slows down how fast you get your food. When it's quieter, food comes out very quickly. Haven't dined in, but from the style of the interior and my personal preferences, I would do take out. read more

Really love the food here. Their combo skewer plates are all tasty, as is the rice, hummus, and baklava. Prices are a little high for a ma and pa place. For example the medium chicken skewer is about $19, whereas some places in town charge only $15. Prices are more in line with the big chains like Panini Kabob at Victoria Gardens. For starters, be sure to bring Clorox wipes with you if you decide to make the mistake by coming here! The dining area was gross, and unclean! Having looked past the dirty, we placed our, waited 35 minutes just to get the wrong order. I opened the food carton, and the food looked disgustingly greasy, as though the chicken was old and had to be reinvigorated with oil. First off let me just say that Nancy helped me choose the perfect lunch :) this was my first time here so I had questions about the menu. She offered to let me even try her personal favorite which was the potato salad. I ordered the beef kabob combo plate which came with a modest portion of beef over a bed of delicious rice, I opted for the hummus and potato salad as my side choices. Also when you check in on yelp you get a complimentary baklava which was delicious! I didn't have to wait very long either for my food to be made and when I asked for a water to go they happily gave me a cup. Nancy didn't make me feel like I was bothering when I asked questions and she gave me options based on what both she prefers and also customers prefer.
