This would be a 5 if the Unagi was life changing because the unagi is not worth at all tastes bland no quality feels like it's from a can. Their salmon easily the best fish and you have to try Bumblebee. Try zakuro SUSHI not their nigiri or bowls those aren't worth. Ambiance is like traditional Japan with the wood the service is very passionate in trying to figure out what would be the best for you. This would EASILY be a 5 if not for the low quality Unagi. Have had great experiences here in the past, dine in and take out, maybe a year or two ago. We placed an order about an hour before closing and even though it was ready on time, we found out sushi to be lacking both in flavor and presentation and the soup was over cooked and too salty ... too bad because we like to support local vendors ... please go back to serving great quality sushi! read more

What we ordered and liked: Oceans 12 roll Super California roll California roll Shogun Gyoza Chicken Teriyaki And shrimp tempura. The chicken was tender and the teriyaki was not too sweet. The rolls were of decent size and they did not skimp on ingredients. Lots of expensive fish eggs yummy. The staff was friendly and attentive. They were very welcoming and accommodating of us. The only thing negative I will say is that the tables and fixtures were old and the place was a bit dark. I think a remodel is in order but that has little to do with the food. When we arrived, we thought the restaurant looked very nice. The inside eating area was a bit loud. So we opted for the patio, which was lovely. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The reason for the two star review is the food. We got 3 rolls, tempura shrimp and veggies, and my friend had the seaweed salad. The tempura and seaweed salad were good. The sushi was not. We had the King Kong II, which was pretty good. The Super California Roll was serviceable, and the Sushi On the River was disgusting. The special sauce ruined it completely. It was so sickly sweet. I just couldn't eat it. The waitress was kind enough to take it away and I ordered the Super Rainbow, which was okay. There was hardly any unagi on the roll and the rice on all the rolls was far too sweet. I see this place gets mostly really good reviews. So it's probably just me. The hunt for real sushi continues.. although this place was decent. This place has been recommended several times on various local blurbs like Nextdoor and stuff so decided to try it. Noticed they had a coupon on a local mailer which is typically a red flag, but I decided to go for it anyway. Our waiter, Peter, was pleasantly surprised when all I ordered was nigiri. I was with a party of 7, some of which are scared to try new foods and they all liked their meal as well. Rolls were sauced on the heavier side, so all you tasted was sauce. The nigiri was ok. I ordered sweet shrimp and I'm pretty sure I got some other shrimp. Sweet shrimp is typically clear/opaque, but this shrimp was red. The heads were pretty small too. Nigiri is on the more expensive side and the fish itself wasn't a great quantity, but quality it was ok. Nothing out of the ball park. Service was very good and attentive. Gobsmacked at some of these positive reviews. Perhaps in the normal run of things they put Ambien in the sushi orders but forgot it in mine so I was unusually conscious. No really, it was like whoever made the maki watched a youtube video (maybe only half of it) went to work and boxed up their first assembly. To be fair they were busy, but there was zero quality control. Sloppy is never a word that one wants to use to describe sushi, but that's exactly what this was. At the end of it I had a take out box full of extra rice detritus (pictured). I get that Lincoln is sort of a bedroom community in the middle of central Cali, so one shouldn't expect much, but come on guys - at least hire a consultant to teach you the proper ratio of rice to fish, how to roll maki that doesn't fall apart and how to cut sushi so it looks presentable. I want to start off this review by mentioning we've come to Zakuro fairly often for the last 3 years for both dine-in and takeout. Our most recent experience was discouraging. We ordered 5 items (4 rolls, veggie tempura appetizer) for pickup. When we arrived at the front to pickup, there was a young man in the front. He did not greet us. He glanced up briefly, and said ,"pickup?" The transaction was wordless after he confirmed my name, ran my card AND LEFT THE FOOD ON THE PICKUP TABLE AND WALKED AWAY AFTER A "THANK YOU," In the literally dozens of times I have come here and ordered food to-go, I've never had such a cold, unwelcoming and impersonal experience. Spending $100+ on food and to have a BRIEF interaction so sterile really came as a shock. Never experienced this here before. Also the veggie tempura has 6 pieces. Noticeably smaller than before. We really love this place! They are reasonably priced and the sushi rolls are huge, so I definitely feel like we are getting our moneys worth. I just wish they would tell you when you walk in the front that you have to go around the corner to the patio entrance to be seated and the parking lot entrance is for to go only. We waited quite awhile up front just to be told to go around to put our name in and wait longer. They do have a sign that says this on the door which we realized after, but there are also 6 other signs and they're all the same size and color so it doesn't stick out. Really enjoyed this place. A little noisy for us though. Very echoey. The rolls were delicious. We had the Zakuro, Hwy 65, Super Karai, and Fantastic Four. The service was outstanding. I have to say that the Super Karai was excellent with the super spicy (ghost pepper) sauce on it. That sauce is also great as a side to dip other morsels into! Unfortunately, we didn't realize until we returned home. The veggie rolls are ok..but when i have requested light rice, they use less avocado and cucumber..and seem to add MORE rice. Great atmosphere. Wish I could keep my five star review, but the quality has lately declined. We have been very loyal customers, and order sushi here at least twice a week. He said ok and then walked away without seating us. When we walked to the outdoor area, the servers near the door were mean-mugging and pointing at us.
