Some places come and go. Zamora Brothers has been one of my LA staples for so long that I honestly can't remember when I first started coming here... has it been 10+ years already? I do remember feeling completely out of my element the first time I walked in. Thankfully, the owner and her son made my husband and I feel welcome. The way they treat you, it's more like family than customers. We originally came for the chicharrones, which are still some of our favorites in LA! But it was the owner's son who mentioned the goat stew, and that's what changed everything for me. Now it's the dish I crave most. Rich, comforting, deeply flavorful, and hits the spot every time without fail. One small detail I've always appreciated: they weigh the goat meat before adding the broth, so you're paying for the meat itself rather than a container full of liquid. It's a small thing, but I think it says a lot about how they do business and how they treat their customers. If you're someone who enjoys goat or lamb, do yourself a favor and try the stew. We probably never would have discovered it without their recommendation, and after all these years, it's still the first thing I think about when Zamora Brothers comes to mind. The food is wonderful, but it's the kindness of the people here that keeps us coming back. After more than a decade, Zamora Brothers feels less like a place I visit, and more like a piece of Los Angeles I've grown up with. read more

Delicious food! Wow!!!! This little hole in the wall has a lot of soul. The space is tight, but there's so much variety and you really get a lot of bang for your buck! The service was pretty good! The ladies were very patient with me as I asked them what plenty of the hot food items were (I couldn't tell). The food was absolutely delicious. At first I was nervous that the food would have a stale taste, since plenty of places like this reheat and reuse old food, but everything was delicious and tasted fresh for the most part. Lots of snacks, lots of hot food options, plenty of parking, and reasonably priced! I'd say this is a clutch spot to grab lunch if you're in the area. I wouldn't necessarily commute far for it, but it's definitely convenient if you're in the area. read more

He took me to the famous carnicería and restaurant, Zamora Brothers, located at West Pico Boulevard and Union Avenue. We were served by Andrew, the general manager, and his team of employees, who provided world-class customer service alongside their great authentic Mexican food. You can dine in or order to go--the restaurant is nestled inside the market, creating a lively atmosphere with Latin music playing in the background. We ordered the pork belly tacos combination plate, which included rice, beans, guacamole, and two tacos. The crunchy texture of the pork belly, combined with their delicious red chile de árbol sauce, was out of this world. Henry opted for two tacos de chivo, which were equally incredible. My wife and I have been buying carnitas from Zamora Bros for years. I never had an issue with the owner or the other gentleman that works there. But this time none of these guys were present. We bought $100 worth of carnitas. My issue was the sloppy way the meat was cut almost left uncut and in huge pieces. My wife had to finish the job of cutting them correctly. By this time around the meat was very cold. Another bigger problem i had was the foil was placed inside the paper brown bag facing down which made all the grease pour out into the bag and then into my vehicles carpet. Huge mess i have grease all over my car now and that stuff doesn't come off. The quality of the product was great like always. The service was mediocre. Please help me solve this issue. 5 out of 5 might be the understatement of the year. How can it even be this great. 10 out of 5 is more like it.... First off, the second we walked in, we were just welcomed with nothing but love. Immediately we were basically given a full tour of the place and the amazing lady at the front broke down how everything worked, what she recommended and helped us along the way. Did we really stick out that badly as tourists with our matching Disneyland jerseys? No complaints here at all, this absolutely made it warm and welcoming. Right off the beat she talked up the coffee, something that is made only in a pot and something special in its own right. Well me and coffee, of course I was all about that. The best way I can describe this is Christmas in a cup. Middle of spring, rainy day, Christmas in a cup... no idea what it was called, no idea how to order it again, but absolutely fantastic. We ended up getting the chicharrones, which comes to find out are serve yourself, buffet and platter style. We also got a small taste of the carnitas. She then took the tray, chopped it up, and we got it with fresh tortillas (which come in packs of 3), and guacamole. The chicharrones, for real. HOLY CRAP. 10 out of 5, culinary greatness. I may just move down to SoCal because I'm not really sure how I can continue my life going forward without these. The tortillas... these might be my favorite tortillas of the whole trip, soft, warm, and chewy. My wife and I ended up snacking on a few of these plain with a little spread of the fresh guacamole. The ambiance. You would never guess but this place was neat and tidy, and a total trip to look around in. Even the bathroom was spotlessly clean, with a special sink outside of it to wash off all the glorious grease you just chowed down on. Then, to cap it off, we left with a bag of concha and other fun, all amazing. We are a bit spoiled at work, or some of the ladies we work with bring in fresh baked ones all the time, and these tasted just like that, fresh baked and legit. I tried a variety of items including carnitas tacos, tamales, chicharron, and guacamole, and everything was amazing. The service alone makes this place special. I met the owner and his energy and care were unreal. It genuinely made me want to come back and bring friends and family. The food was just as strong as the hospitality. The chicharron was perfectly crunchy and fresh, and knowing it is made every two hours makes a difference. You absolutely need to get the guacamole with it. The tamale surprised me the most. I have not had many in my life, but this one was so warm and comforting, like wrapping yourself in a heated blanket. The flavor was excellent. The carnitas tacos were also great, juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. Everything I tried was a hit and I honestly want to come back to try more of the menu. This place is small and perfect. My friend took me today to his fav carnitas spot and it reminded me of places I use to go as a kid on the east side of San Jose. Very welcoming, very sweet people who work there. The food was so good, I got two carnitas tacos, which were perfect. Not salty, you can really taste the meat, yummy hot salsa and grilled jalapeño. Stopped in at Zamora bros on the first day of the our vacation. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the friendly woman working the counter. We were clearly lost at how things worked, so she kindly gave us a tour and showed us how everything worked. It was self serve with so many options! We were their specifically for the chicharrones, and she also had us try some of the carnitas. Once we picked out the ones we wanted she took it back and chopped it up for us and came back with fresh home made tortillas and guacamole that they had just made and of course cilantro, onion and lime. Omg 10 out of 10 chicharrones and guacamole is the best pairing I've ever had and the carnitas were amazing as well! She also had us try their special coffee, not sure what it was called but the flavor was amazing. My first sip reminded me of Christmas, and it really hit the spot in the rainy day. We also picked out some of the fresh pan dulce to go and these were also the best I've ever had! They had a nice clean little seated area for you to enjoy your food and a very clean bathroom and extra sink area for cleaning up after your meal. I really cant rave about this place enough. I came in because i had come across a video on tiktok about how they specialize in chicharron and carnitas. But let me tell you they have more than just that. They have ready carnitas and chicharrons to pick out of but they have a menu to order anything a la cart. The service is always friendly. They greet you like family. I was in line to pay for my chicharron and the guy behind the counter asked me if i wanted to try out their hand made tortillas. i didnt even know they made them there so i said of course!! This place was such a rip off honestly. The food was overpriced for what it is. The chicharrón at Vallarta for example is $15.99, a pound, and here it was like $21.99. Tasted ok But I didn't see the price listed until I asked the lady who weighed my food. Same for the carnitas, there were like 20$ a pound at Zamora Bros and at Vallarta they are like 11$ a pound. I didn't see a difference in the way the carnitas tasted from Zamora Bros vs Vallarta supermarket so I honestly felt like it was a rip off. I honestly wouldn't go back. We've been eating in this spot on Sundays for the past 3 weeks. Andres Zamora has been very pleasant and tentive to our needs along with his staff. Food tastes great. Highly recommend the costillas en salsa verde with some tortillas hechas a mano. If you are cold try the cafe de olla. When eating there and listening to the music playing it's like sitting at home. This place is a hidden gem. Such great food and the service is amazing. You come and get a tray to pick out your meats you want. We usually go for the carnitas. We order a dozen tortillas too. ( they're hand made). After you pick you meat. You go to the counter to pay for your stuff. After they ask if you wanna eat there. They will cut up the meat for you. Ive been craving chicharrones for a while so I decided to go to yelp to find a place. Zamora brothers popped up, I started looking through the pictures and reviews and they convinced me. The shop is in a small shopping center with minimal parking since they share with other businesses. I found parking on the street right around the corner. I walk up to a line of people waiting. We waited for about 5-10 minutes which was not a big deal. As we walk in I ask the lady how do we order. She says we grab a tray and grab carnitas, chicharrones and other stuff, then we walk up and it gets weighed and we pay. They were very busy with phone orders, Uber orders and walk ins. All of the ladies were working hard and fast. We ordered hand made tortillas while we picked our food. The cashier was so sweet, she apologized for the wait and how busy they were. She said they went viral due to a tik tok video they made scooping guacamole with their chicharrones. We paid and waited a few more minutes for our tortillas. The smell of the carnitas and chicharrones made my mouth water. As soon as we got home we all grabbed a plate and started eating. Amazing!!! This place was so authentic, delicious, and friendly. They have an enormous selection of food to choose from. Food is served with plenty of lime, onion, and cilantro, and they have a great selection of drinks to choose from, mine being the guava juice. The pork carnitas tacos were so tasty. It was hard for me to eat slowly when the taco is just so delicious. We also chose some chicharon to snack on before eating and to bring home. I would try to get their guacamole if it is still available for the chicharon and for the tacos. I will be coming back to try more, but of course, I will have to order the same things in addition because they were just so delicious. Zamora had the friendliest, most welcoming staffs. They were willing to make anything possible - whatever u r craving - just ask! High chance - they will make it or some kind of variation happen! My husband ordered their enchilada combo - each stuffed with diff protein - pork tongue, carne asada, and goat. I opted for the boss lady's fav - goat quesadilla. They certainly didn't disappoint! Every cut was beyond delicious! My only complaint was the portion size was on a smaller side. My quesadilla could def get a little more meat in. It was a mouth full of mainly corn tortilla and shredded lettuce in each. Could also used a lot more cheese! This has been on of my favorite places since I was a kid. I don't know why they had bad reviews in the past but I think it's false. The food, is amazing !!! The sauce is crazy spicy but delicious.
