I love zankou chicken. Everything on their menu is delicious. I used them for a catering order for about 75 people. I had actually compared zankou with Ani's chicken and just based on the variety of items that Zankou offers with the party pack: lots of hummus, tabbouleh, garden salad, rice, all the chickens plus it includes the garlic paste and turnips and the pita bread, it's a whole complete meal. Their chicken is so moist and delicious, compared to other places. Everyone at the Luncheon was raving about how good it was. I also got a side of beef shwarma and falafels and even the vegan guests were happy. It was so easy to order in store, they got the order right, they had it ready on time and the guys that work there were so sweet to load it all up in my car for me and everything was labeled so they made sure I got everything I paid for. A bonus was that their catering order comes with serving utensils, which I needed! Definitely would recommend!!! The value for what you get and the quality is wonderful. read more

Do not waste your precious money... first red flag was the color of the chicken kabob. Any regulars will notice the bright yellow color of recent pics for this place. This is no Zankou... the yellow, dry, small portion chicken was bad. If you work for Zankou: shame on you for your lack of action on letting this place to mislead customers... and If this is really Zankou, What's wrong with this place???? Something off at the Montebello location. Hummas was watery and bland. The lulu kebab dry and salty. Food was no where near same flavor as in the past. Rotisserie chicken was dry and not hot when served. Very disappointed because I've been going to this location for several years. Service at 11:30am very bad with only a few customers in the store. I know why this Zankou only has 3 1/2 stars the service is pretty bad. I go home and realize there is no pita and my order was wrong. I have to drive all the back and the only compensation I got was my pita. Mind you I had asked for garlic and the cashier kept telling me it was in there but I did check for that and it WAS NOT! What happened? This used to be my go to place to eat. I ordered a falafel wrap and the falafels were skimpy and smashed, no flavor like they just grabbed it out of the fridge & microwaved it. (It just had that no taste flavor). Before, I remember there was so much filling I had to finish it with a fork. Today, this wrap had smashed left over falafels and mostly lettuce. How cheap! The staff looked so bored. I hope management pays attention because I would hate to see their business suffer. Mediterranean food quick and fast why not? So we gave Zankou a try. The menu is not that extensive so making a pick is very fast and easy. Staff is friendly and ready to take your order. Food is fast and on your table in no time. 1/2 chicken - I ordered the 1/2 chicken that was way to much food for one person. It's a 1/2 chicken with white rice, hummus and a little salad. You get some pitta bread on the side as well. The chicken was very good and tender with a nice crispy skin. Hummus was very good and with that pita bread to dit can't go wrong. The salad on the side was good as well but needed a little dressing. Oh and you can't forget the side of garlic sauce. Falafel - A side of falafel because I always like to try it. I used to love eating here but the food seems to be way more saltier now. I ordered the half chicken plate with hummus and tabuleh. The chicken was salty, the hummus was salty, and so was the tabuleh. I thought it was just my taste buds being weird, but my boyfriend agreed as well. We drank so much water and couldn't finish our meal because of it. Not sure what happend, maybe we just caught them on a bad day because I remember this place being really good. The pita bread and rice help cut the saltiness a bit, but overall I probably won't be back especially for the price you're paying here. read more

This is my first time I order through Yelp. The process went smoothly, easy to pay. Only, as soon as I placed the order I wasn't told any. So got bit scared, but I got an email with the info. One of the plate in my order was wrong, they gave me both chicken, instead of beef and chicken how I wanted. But the food overall was excellent, just the falafel oil needs to be changed. We all know Zankou. When I ordered my chicken skewer plate I asked for the 2 skewer plate and not the single. The employee replied," Our chicken kabob plate is always two skewers." Hmm. I get home to find my plate lacking the staple items of any other Zankou location. I went on Zankou's website and this location isn't listed as one of their restaurants. I wrote a scathing review a few months ago, after being told by girl at register that chicken would take 30 minute to prepare. I swore I'd never set foot in Zankou again. Fast forward 3 or 4 months....I'm dying for garlic sauce. Against my better judgement I made an on-line order: family pack, a single wrap, grilled tomato, baklava& side of falafel. Imaging my surprise when I arrived 10 minutes before my 6:50 pm pick-up time. No surprise...it wasn't ready, but 10 minutes later, my number was called & order handed to me. I went off to the side & opened the bag to see if order was complete. Fully expecting something to be missing, I was pleasantly surprised that my order was complete, including the much desired garlic sauce. I am a huge Zankou fan and infact drove more than 15 miles to get my fix. The food is good the and the place is clean the problem is [and I will be agreeing with Jon and Berj] the prices are $3 than all the other Zankous in the area and the portions are certainly not the largest I have received. I could live with the portion, I had plenty but how do you justify $3 above everyone else. I drive around LA and OC so the next time I am near Anaheim or Glendale area, I will visit one of those locations. There are also, other Lebanese restaurants that do a great job, i CANNOT JUSTIFY SPENDING 30% MORE AT THIS LOCATION. Its not like they are in Beverly Hills or an expensive location like Downtown Disney where you expect to pay a couple extra dollars. I hope they make it. we ordered kabeb plate, luleh kabeb plate and a whole chicken which i specifically asked for well done because everytime we buy from this place its always half cooked. and then when we got home sure enough the chicken is half cooked again. the inside still red with little bit of blood is really nasty . we ended up throwing it away because its not safe for us and my small kids to eat it. its was very very disappointing and waste of money. never will come back to this place. read more

Ordered the Shawarma plate. The meat was disgustingly dry and hard. The pickled vegetables were old and too bitter. Seems like they kept meat from before Covid. Maybe they froze it. Stay away from this place. The cashier was rude and rushing me. Seems like she didn't want to be there. The hummus was good. Onions were fresh. White sauce for falafel as ok. The pita bread was good. (I cooked it on the stove like a tortilla, w/no pan). I love Zankou BUT this location was horrible! I ordered half a chicken plate and a tarna wrap. I was given 1 garlic sauce for both orders and when I asked for one more for my other order they wouldn't give it to me. Glendale, pasadena, Culver City and Hollywood locations give away garlic sauce without hesitation. The staff is frustrated and not kind except for the cashier who was nice . She seemed new but knew what she was doing but was Reprimanded every time by another lady. The tables were a mess and the system was down. Just a mess. Which ever side of the family is running this location needs to re-evaluate this site asap. read more

This location is always hit or miss, mostly miss. It was doing better for a while and everything was comparable to the other Zankou locations, but now it's back to being mediocre. On this most recent visit the meat was under seasoned and it was "cooking" but the meat wasn't warm or even showing signs of being cooked anytime recently. The meat was bland and dried out.
