Zankou chicken was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the combination plate containing both the beef and chicken skewers and I did feel full after. The tenderness of the chicken was delicious and the beef was meaty! As a fellow protein lover - this was perfect! With the combination plate you get the choice of 3 sides - so you have a variety of options to make the dish your own. I opted for rice, tzatziki sauce, and a garden salad. The plate also comes with naan and garlic sauce (be sure to get the garlic sauce!). I personally like my food spicy so I also got additional chili peppers on the side. As a heads up, the food is fresh and you can see them preparing the skewers so you may have a slight wait. Overall pretty tasty!

Beef Kebab Wrap

This spot was pretty average for Mediterranean food. We ordered at the counter and then took our seats. The food surprisingly took quite a while to arrive--about 15-20 minutes, which felt long for a fast-casual style restaurant. Beef Kebab Wrap - The wrap used very basic, premade pita bread, like the kind you'd see sitting on the counter. The meat was a bit chewy, though the flavors were decent. Overall, it was average at best. (3.5/5) Overall, it was decent, but not somewhere I'd think of first when craving Mediterranean food. Parking - Plentiful they have a lot in front.

Chicken lule

I was there yesterday and I ordered the chicken lule and it was dry and it just doesn't taste like anything. Did you change management or cook?

Disappointed isn't even the word!!!

No tzaziki, no tabbouleh.. no harissa sauce. What do you have??? Rather drive to Pasadena where you don't auger to hear we don't carry, we don't have, we are a smaller location. Small or not, that goes with the food! Smh. Not coming back here again.

It's as good as it looks. This gorgeous plate of rotisserie chicken with all the sides tastes just as incredible. The chicken is tender and juicy, skin is crispy and rendered down with the slow roasting. The garlic sauce is to die for, and no one can make it like Zankou. The salad was so yummy and fresh. This is a great value for all the food that you get.

Blackened old beef* poor beef had seen better days Disgusting, cashier tried to tell me they would carve the dry bits out! Also a bunch of chickens packed sitting counter ( I wasn't about to get that either) how long have they been sitting there with no heat lamp?

No key needed for men's room......
Dirk P.

The food here was ok, a lot of people are actually ordering take out. I immediately noticed an interesting note, the Women's room needs a key but the Men's room does not require a key. Now you probably are asking yourself: why??? Are women just messy and they want to prevent unauthorized access? No, not really, the reason is that there is a hole in the wall of the women's restroom that cockroaches come through, really big cockroaches. Please don't go to this restaurant, it is infested. UPDATE 9/2/2025 This is in response to the Owner's response. I noticed the signs at first, I did not enter the bathrooms until later. The restaurant is also not in compliance with the All Gender user for single user restrooms in California. I don't know how the restaurant could so clearly be in violation of that law? All they have to do is change the signs. Also, why doesn't the restaurant respond to me on this: why is a key required for the women's but not the men's restroom? The owner is deflecting from the real issues. I would suggest of course that the owner take care of the coach roaches but also use some common sense, change the sign on the men's restroom to All Gender and close the women's until the infestation is under control. Why would I lie about anything, the establishment is violating the law. UPDATE 9/9/2025 The owner is complaining about my review and trying to get it taken down. I don't know why the coachroches are not being taken care of, are the owners worried about getting an exterminator to their property and word getting out they have a problem?

Photos attached show unsanitary food handling practices.

Ordered a pickup through Grubhub. While waiting in my car, I noticed the restaurant was empty with only three employees inside--two wearing yellow shirts and one wearing a red shirt. The employee in the red shirt appeared to be preparing food and did not change his gloves after cleaning and touching other surfaces. Watching this was honestly disgusting, which is when I began taking photos. This is a serious food safety concern. Because of what I observed, I did not pick up my food. Management needs to do much better. Please be careful eating here.

Ask the Community - Zankou Chicken

Is this location under new ownership? Went here recently and everything was off.

This isn't the same Zankou most of us know. It's not listed on the Zankou website. Bootleg location. FYI

Is this place now completely independent of the other two factions? It's not listed under either one of the Zankou websites. Thanks

Healthy options galore at Salads 2K! Yelp pointed me in this direction when I was looking for…read moresomething on the healthier side, and the menu definitely delivered. I ordered the turkey panini, which came loaded with spring mix, tomatoes, basil pesto, mayo, mustard, onions, cheese, avocado, and alfalfa sprouts on ciabatta bread. Y'all... it was so good. The sandwich was hefty, too. I ended up eating half and saving the other half for later because it was that filling. Now, here's where they lost me a little. The inside felt really cramped. Between the food station, salsa area, and counters, it just seemed like there was too much going on in a small space. To make matters worse, I spotted a fly flying around the veggies. They have those net screens up, which I assume are there to keep flies out, but that one clearly didn't get the memo. It just made me question the overall cleanliness of the shop, and for me, it wasn't it.

Went to try on a weekday and got 2 really good panini sandwiches. We ordered the turkey and chicken…read morepaninis, I got the lentil soup for my side. All items were really fresh and delicious. We also tried some agua frescas and they were also very good. The ladies working were very nice and informative. Something that is unfortunately rare nowadays, so we really appreciated the great service. I want to add that this is a very clean establishment from what I could see. My only complaint is that they are not open on the weekends. Check online for their weekday specials!

Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!…read more I'll be honest, when my husband suggested we drive 39 minutes for sandwiches, I was initially like... are we really doing this? But by the time we were leaving Uptown provisions, all I could think about was how incredibly worth the drive it was! From the moment we walked in, I loved the vibe. The space is so cool, and everyone was super welcoming. We watched a steady stream of locals come in to grab food they ordered online. You can also grab your drinks and chips from the fridge and shelves before ordering your sandwich. I ordered Tom's Way Egg Sandwich, and as someone who LOVES egg sandwiches and pastrami, I couldn't believe I'd never thought to put the two together! It comes with cheese, pickled onions, and this delicious orange sauce that isn't even mentioned in the description. The combination was SO good. I was honestly shocked by how much I loved it and would absolutely order it again and again. So glad I took a chance on something a little different! My husband got the Uptown and said the smoked turkey was so bomb. He doesn't usually even like avocado, but he was absolutely chomping away at this sandwich So I'd say that's a pretty solid endorsement! We also tried the Mela watermelon water, which was SO light, refreshing, and delicious. Definitely keeping an eye out for those cans now! Whittier is lucky to have this little gem. It seems like the locals know what's up because there was a constant flow of people coming in who clearly love this place. We got lucky with parking. We will absolutely be back again and again, and next time, I won't be questioning the 39 minute drive.

Pastrami Reuben -ratio of pastrami to sauerkraut was perfection. Pickled onions tied everything together, soo good! Only down side to my sandwich was the pastrami was pretty fibrous/stringy but it was only a couple of pieces which didn't upset me too much. Tom's Way -pretty wet sandwich but everything paired well. Flavorful and filling but doesn't leave you feeling heavy. Spicy Gabagool -the sauce they use is chef's kiss. Not so much spicy but more of a season spiced. Really wanted to try their Lemon Crumb Bars but the girl ahead of me grabbed the last one. Just an excuse to come back for more sandwiches hahhaha. Opted for a Pecan Pie Bar instead; a bit more elevated than a regular pecan bar, crispy pecan added just the right amount of texture. Loved the caramel flavor but slightly too sweet for my liking.

I've been coming to The Marketplace Grill Cafe since they first opened, and I can honestly say…read moretheir food is always delicious. My absolute favorite is the Greek chicken salad--I can't even explain how good it is, it's just that delicious every single time. Recently, my sisters surprised me for my birthday by taking me there, and we had such a great time. It made the experience even more special. Their pastries are also amazing--fresh and so tasty. What really stands out to me is the customer service. We had such a kind and friendly server who took the time to talk with us, which made us feel so welcome. That's the kind of service that keeps you coming back. We ended up staying for almost three hours because that's how comfortable and relaxed we felt at The Marketplace. It truly feels like a place where you can enjoy great food and great company.

I am extremely disappointed with the way my husband and I were treated today at The Market Place…read moreGrill & Cafe. I have an egg allergy, so before placing my order I made it clear that my food needed to be prepared without eggs. Despite informing the staff, my order was made incorrectly with egg, making it unsafe for me to eat. My husband returned to the drive-thru around 11:24 a.m. to let them know about the mistake and asked if they could remake my meal. Instead of correcting their error, they only refunded his order and refused to remake mine. While he was still trying to explain the situation, the employee shut the drive-thru window on him. I then called the restaurant because I couldn't believe how the situation was handled. I spoke with a lead named Danny and explained that this wasn't just a wrong order--it involved a food allergy that could have had serious health consequences. Unfortunately, my concerns were dismissed. The employee who answered the phone, Aaron, was unprofessional, and when we asked to speak with the manager, Muriel, she refused to come to the drive-thru window or speak with us. This wasn't about getting free food. I simply wanted the meal I paid for to be remade correctly so it was safe for me to eat. Instead, my allergy was treated as if it didn't matter, and we were met with rude and dismissive customer service. Food allergies are serious. Restaurants have a responsibility to take them seriously and respond appropriately when they make a mistake. I hope management addresses this incident, provides proper food allergy training to its employees, and improves the way customers are treated. No one should have to leave a restaurant feeling ignored and unsafe after reporting a food allergy concern.
