I used to frequently go to sunset location Pasadena at Time and then I found out you guys opened up a place in Montebello. I was really happy I've been going there for since you opened up by 6-7 times maybe a month. But for the past the year and a half, I have not been able to come to your place. I had a major incident with one of your employees your cooks know about the problem. Your manager knows a bit a little bit the problem, but they never addressed it. I was called the police on, but I don't know his name. He's a young guy and anyways I had gone to your restaurant back then and I ordered some falafel about 35 minutes after I asked the guy my food was ready and he said I'll operator right now so I told him just give my money back and he took it upon himself to repeat to me. Don't be cussing at me. I said what you talking about I want my money back and he replies he said give my fucking money back back. I never said that I replied and went out again and again and he asked me just don't say that again and watch the way you talk to me I looked that I'm gonna go just give my money back and shut up at this point he threw me out of the place. The Cooks told him that he was wrong. He. but he still went on and on and followed me outside. I'm with my wife walking out and he's walking behind me. The cooks are telling him to go back in. He didn't do so I left. He's a little young kid anyways about three months after I came back again I'm waiting in line and he tells me your Tony right? I answered no I'm a RAYMOND. He tells me I remember you and again he went on and started up again in front of customers. I looked at I'm and I asked it's yours your manager here and he said hold on let me call he called and she told him to call the police on me for trying to order some food. I haven't came back to your restaurant sir but honestly, I miss going to your restaurant. I love your food. I grow up with them. I would really like to go back to your restaurant as bad as it sounds, but what I've been through, but I am a fan of your restaurant. If you could please reply to me and tell me that it's OK for me to go back without the police could be called on me. I don't know his name but he's a young guy that has kind of thicker cheeks Mexican guy young I don't know his name, but the manager told me because I asked call back and she said oh that told her to call the cops because he said you were being a nuisance tell her no I asked for you and his reply was called the cops. The cooks told him that's not OK what you're doing he's a good customer. He's been your plenty of times stop it. You don't have to listen to me, sir. To all the yelpers this is my first yelping. after eating my friend's head off about trying this new find in Montebello he told me to comment on yelp instead of giving him a F#####g head ache. so here it goes. I was all alone on a Saturday night and dateless. so I had made a reservation for one at this Zankou restaurant. LOL they don't take reservations. so I threw on my Levi's and headed out the door. I tried to throw a few passes at some girls but none took the bait. reaching the destination alone hungry and ready. Walked through the door and bammmmm love at first scent, the aroma of the food got me drooling. They had a great selection of food so I got stuck. Asked the beautiful cashier what is their popular item. It was the Half Chicken Plate. It came with all sorts of goodies. rice pita bread which was soft and tasty, salad, this red pickled stuff which is too much for my taste buds, hummus, and the secret garlic sauce which they wouldn't tell me what was in it,....duh. and let me not forget the prize winning Chicken the skin alone is delicious and crispy. Though my Saturday ended dateless I was a happy fellow. will I go back helll yeahhhhh babe. maybe I'll find a date to take. but wouldn't have that garlic spread. or maybe just pack a few breath mints lol read more

Zankou Saved my Christmas! Christmas Day 2009 and Im out of Ideas for food. Last minute changes put me in a bind. My sister calls me to tell me she cant do the family party at her house. I wanted to Kill her. I call it chance or luck. I remember seeing a menu add of this zankou rest. saw that they had these party packs of chicken and side. Made a few calls and my brother told me his eaten here, OK..... tells me its not bad. I would never do something like this in my life but the times called for it. I called and talked to the manager and ordered their party pack #3. Just to note they do not dilever but what the heck right?! I had 43 family members coming at 1pm and I needed to have food. It work out lower then $6.40 a person. I was impressed at what I got, and the food was freash and hot. My family loves chicken and they all were very tummy happy and ended up in food comas, hahaha. Boy-O-Boy! This place is like heaven for my taste buds. I literally have spent my whole pay check here, lol. At first I thought I was just hungry, so I went back and had to try it again and I got hooooooked. I've tried almost everything on their menu. The Tarna wrap, Chicken Kebab wrap, are my first loves. Then I tried the beef Kebab plate, the beef is filet migon and it was out of this world, tender, juicy and greaaat! Their hummus is probably in the top three that I have had if not the better of them, I can go on. And who would have thought, the rotisserie chicken is to die for dude, I recommend the Half Chicken Plate. I know where I'm going now after a heavy workout. And the most important is that the service was friendly and the place was very clean polished clean. And their cashier are some hot Tamales Zank- you, You'r Lover. read more

This is the nicest Zankou yet. I don't know where the negative review came from! They actually thought out the decor in this restaurant (no bland walls and plastic looking furniture like some of the others). And finally a Zankou where the cashiers smile...even the cooking crew smiles! As far as the food, there is no better fast food around. You can get half a chicken, with rice, hummus, salad, pickles, bread AND a soda for $10. I can never finish the whole meal, but it makes great leftovers. If anything, just the Garlic Spread makes this place worth coming to! I'm there every week, good thing the food is healthy...haven't gained a pound! See you there :) read more

Its been a while But I got to taste almost everything. Woohooooo! zank-you Zankou gods! Hummus, Tabuleh and the eggplant dip "Mutebbell" is sooo tasty. But you got to have the Chicken I can eat the skin alone it's crispy. Note it says Foster Farms on their Menu ; ) don't forget to buy extra of that garlic sauce, have to try the Tarna Plate, Chicken Kabab plate, and for the vegetarians you have to have the Falafil plate. This Zankou Chicken location is terrible. The beef shawarma was disgusting. It tasted spoiled and completely inedible. The cucumber salad was clearly old and had a bad smell.I have eaten at three other Zankou Chicken locations and the food was always good. This place is nothing like them. The quality here is very low.Everything tasted wrong. I could not finish my meal. I wasted my money.Do not come to this location unless you want bad food. I will not be coming back. read more

Um,Um, Um. first time at Zankou Chicken. Don't know what the name means but it sure doesn't matter when the food is that good. I had the Half Chicken plate, come w/ humus, salad, rice pita bread and the garlic spread, what is that stuff made of it was awesome! Oh my god I am sooooo disgusted!!!!! I ordered Zankou 2 plates lots of garlic sauce and falafel. I spent about 60 bucks! I got my food and there was HAIR cooked in the chicken!!!! Legit cooked in the kitchen!!! I am pregnant and got so disgusted I threw up and brushed my teeth so much and so hard my gums were bleeding. I am beyond disgusted words can't even describe!!!!!!! What a clean place. Just had to say that. Came here with my co-workers they recomanded to eat the half chicken plate. I was so happy after because it reminded me of the cooking stile of the chinese rotiss. chickens. I dont recomand ladys getting what I ordered becauce it was alot of food, they do have quarter chicken plate whitch would have been enough for me. good food, great service and most importantly very clean. read more

I drove from San Diego to Anaheim to try their food because I heard a lot about it. the smell of chicken was all the way in the parking lot.. I love that smell.. it was busy place and I like the whole chicken, but the ground beef was dry, and the chicken shish was good before it get cold.. when it got cold, it got dry. but in general their food is great and I will be their again. :) read more

Best chicken I've ever had. I never knew chicken can taste this good. The people are really nice. I didn't really know what I was ordering and I didn't pick up my pita bread when I ordered. I really love Zankou's Pasadena and Glendale stores. Had not had it for a while so I waited this morning in Montebello for the store to open. I wasted my time. 6.99 for a tine sloppily assembled wrap and another 5.99 for a bland salad. This store is not very good. I wonder if it is a franchise. I won't go back. I absolutely love this Zankou chicken! The stuff are always so so kind and helpful, despite maybe sometimes being understaffed. Make sure you have a bit of time to wait for your order, but I promise it'll be so worth it! I love the care they take into making their chicken and dishes. If you have an issue w an employee the owner doesn't care he just tells employees to call the cops on the customer instead of finding out the problem good for nothing managers and owner! pretty decent food, service was good too. the chicken is very flavorful but prices are a little high. I can get a whole chicken elsewhere for cheaper. That garlic paste is something else, you dont forget you ate it for hours. I would go again but not a cheap place to have lunch read more

The place was clean and staff was friendly. I ordered the chicken Sharma wrap. The pita however dry and not tasty. Most of the chicken pieces were hard and crunchy. The pickled turnips were not impressive and I like most all veggies. Oh well. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. read more
