I've eaten here a few times and wish and want to love it. I am going for middle of the road as I just didn't enjoy it as much as some of my friends. The great news is that the food is fresh and well done. I did not enjoy any of the sauces and found the meatballs to have a weird texture. The portions are better than Noodles & Co. They have more Asian options than Noodles & co. Depending on the staff, the curry bowl will have generous amounts of curry or it will be dry. Two adults can split a bowl for a light dinner. The noodle soup is delicious, and perfect if you have a cold or allergies or are feeling ill in general. It is crowded at lunchtime, so if you are in a hurry, it makes more sense to order online and pick up from Noodles & Co. But they have better tasting food and bigger portions than Noodles for much better prices. The food is mildly spicy, and soothing. It is assembly line style, where you pick your bowl, protein, curry, and carbs, and the raw salad items going into your bowl. If you like food like that, this gets a 4. Been to Zao a few times and think it's pretty good for fast casual Asian. Went to this location last week for the first time and was highly disappointed. Business hours are not posted in front of the store. Doors were unlocked so we walked in. Staff member who looks like the manager informed us they don't open until another 6-7 mins (which would be 11AM). Asked if we can sit at a table and wait and she said ok- after all, they did open the doors before they were ready to open. At 11AM, they were still cooking so we continued to sit patiently waiting. ~11:12AM, we asked if they were close to being ready and she said they need another ~10mins. At this point, we had already been waiting 15+ mins and who knows if they would actually be ready in 10 more mins. Even if we weren't early and got there at 11AM when they open, we would still need to wait ~20mins to order and get our food at a fast casual type restaurant. Not good keeping customers waiting like that. We left and went to the Fort Union location instead. Had we just waited, we would have saved gas and it prob took longer than 10 mins to drive to Fort Union. If she offered us a drink, we would have appreciated the customer service and stayed, but we felt under appreciated and decided to give our business to another store instead. read more

First time visit and I was blown away at how delicious the food was. I chose the chicken rice bowl with the yellow Thai curry sauce and the portion was huge yet the prices are very reasonable. The Murray Zao location is my favorite! The food is always fresh and the employees are helpful and friendly. Zao has great options that are fresh, healthy and affordable. I am a regular at this location, because the food seems to be better quality than at other locations and the employees go out of their way to be nice. I thought the teriyaki ckn salad was tasty. Also liked the ckn and steak noodle dish. But for $9 I think the portions could be better. But i guess thats why its a health place so no biggie. I liked all the extra little toppings they offer - soo good and great added touch. The grilled onions and carrots, nuts. Great combo. Just increase your pirtion sizes (dont be cheap). To be honest i have not tried anything else. The ambiance is fantastic, the staff do an awesome job too. I had my doubts whether the chicken would be cooked thoroughly or not. But it was cooked with perfection.This is my new go to place for lunch. The price is very reasonable too - i was surprised to have a flavorful dish with good quantity for just 8$.
