This is a beautifully laid out and attractively lit store. The clothes are very appealing and well organized. Unfortunately that is where it ends for Zara and me. I couldn't find anything that was responsibly made........just all the "Made in _____" tags you don't want to buy from. (The garment workers in the countries where Zara places its orders work in highly uncertain conditions. Remember +1300 factory workers killed in Bangladesh 2013?) Not worth it. Also, I stand behind Amber Valetta, Christy Turlington, and other fashion notables who take a stance against "fast fashion" and the toll it places on the planet. Buy fewer clothes that are made to last. Stick to classics. Look at the labels. Sell higher-quality pieces, made in America, Zara, and I'm all yours. read more

Coming from LA I loved Zara, but poor competency makes this place a nightmare. Avoid the shoulder length brunette that's fair skin at the cashier. She should really be folding clothes in the back because she's making all of the good sales associate look bad. I asked if I could exchange an item for store credit that I got as a gift (no receipt). Cashier says no, ok no problem. Then I see the sign that says without receipt exchange for current value (which I later see on the back of a receipt as well). I point it out and she dodges 2-3 time then finally says it's possible if I accept the current price ( the price was never a problem, why blatantly lie that it couldn't be done). My new purchases rings up to $50. she says for the gift I want to return/ exchange (12.99) I need to find something else to buy. WHAT? I found $50 worth of things and you want me to find something 12.99 too. She said "you're making it difficult I have to do 2 transaction, one for your return and one for your new purchases ". then apply my return to my new purchases, why do I have to find another item to buy -I'm well above return!! Zara reminds me of the grown up version of Forever 21. There are a bunch of racks of random clothes in random sizes scattered all over the store. There is evidently some method to the madness since they try to put them in groups by price. Aside from that, it's kind of a free for all. There won't be a nice way to find a blue S when there are 5 mediums next to you, you might find one in green though. Then later after you've checked out and are walking out the door you may find that blue S in the pants rack or by underwear. Point being-you need to take your time in this store and don't lose your patience. Often I've found a lot of dresses I like and then ordered them online when they didn't have my size and that ended up being a lot easier because finding sizes and colors is much faster. This store is huge but most of the stores in this area are. Several floors and 2 for women's alone. There is a good amount of stuff in here. I actually peeked into kids as well and if I wasn't in a rush I may have looked around more since I can fit into some kids sizes. I'm not a native Seattle-er, so I forgot that stores here charge you a nickel per bag, so I was a bit confused when the salesgirl was asking me if I wanted a bag until she mentioned the charge. Um, how else am I supposed to carry my stuff? Yes, I'll give you an extra nickel. I would be way more annoyed with this store if they didn't have cute clothes at good prices-and in SMALL SIZES. It's damn near impossible to find anything that comes in petite or 00 and I know I can find it here (although it may be wedged by shoes or next to a men's size 34). read more

Finally. After teasing us with the huge black and white sign for months, after leaving Westlake Center a hot mess for what seemed forever, the Spanish purveyor of stylish yet affordable clothing has finally opened. The store is spacious, well-designed and filled with far too many clothes that I NEED to have. Men's is upstairs. I walked out with two big "Dear Seattle..." bags and could not be happier. Being a European brand, sizes are for how humans SHOULD be, so if you frequent McDonald's 5x a week, you likely will not fit in anything here. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Drove ALL the way from Lynnwood to pick up a pair of pants that they were supposed to be holding for me per the Lynnwood store, lynnwood called before I left their store to make sure Seattle had them and would hold them. Got to ZARA Seattle at 7:45 - THEY HAD CLOSED THE STORE! Why have operating hours if your going to close 15 minutes prior to the time posted!!! When I finally got someone's attention they let me in and said they had closed early and would NOT retrieve the item that Lynnwood put on hold UNLESS I had the item number because "there is a lot of suits upstairs and we are closed". Zara is a fast fashion store, full of knock-off looks at a great price. Better quality and fit than H&M or Forever21. My biggest gripe is that their "XS" (smallest size available) is too big for me in some styles and I've never spotted pants smaller than a size "32" - which means most of their stuff doesn't even fit me and I'm not a miniature person. As modern and appealing as the location seems, their employees have a notoriety-syndrome for working here. They place so much value on shallowness, its disgusting. Take away the clothes a person wears, and what do you have? The poorest amount of character. No one has a sense of humor, so it's already difficult to interact with them. I was looking for a totally reliable work dress. Zara's website had a few dresses I was interested in, but I hadn't been to a Zara store in years, so I went downtown to check fits and fabrics. Glad I did! The store is large and well-organized, which compares favorably to the horribly cramped downtown H&M. However, the lighting and color scheme are oppressively dim gray (the yelp photos give you a good idea), the music was really loud, fitting rooms were a bit dirty and the curtains in the fitting rooms don't want to stay closed. None of this prepares you to want to shop, but then the clothes are the real deal-breaker. Practical tip: go up a size relative to what you would wear at another chain store. Not like you'll find anything to wear here anyway... Several times, I spied a potential work dress, only to turn it around and discover that it was backless, or that there were already loose threads and pulls in the fabrics, or that the fabrics were really cheap-feeling. I tried on a few dresses, just to see, and they were pretty awful. From eavesdropping on other women in the fitting area, it seems like a lot of people just wear Zara clothes for going out. However, Zara prices are a lot higher than H&M or F21 if you're looking for that sort of thing. So the work clothes fail on style and quality, and the fun clothes fail on price. Walked by the Westlake shopping center and saw a large crowd in front of Zara, the Spanish fast-fashion giant. It turns out they are having a grand opening this V-day weekend and tonight is the soft opening! Beautiful store layout and gorgeous garments, wish the Zara in Vancouver is as big. Terrible customer service. Needed to return things before reaching 30 days. I did wear one item (cost of ~$13) once, which I told them about. The return policy on Zara.com at in my online receipts does not specify that - you can return item within 30 day via mail or to any store. The person at the registration desk was rude, especially after seeing that I'm not purchasing but returning. She said that they can't accept it because they won't be able to sell it. First of all, I have to stress that I love Zara clothes! Since I moved to Seattle, I have switched completely to wear Zara instead of Forever21 or H&M. I know that their clothes quality is quite bad for the price but I have been willing to pay for their style. Personally, I enjoy shopping in-store more than online since I can try the clothes on to buy only what really fit me so I don't have to worry about returning things later. However, after the first few positive experience I had in this store, I started to have some bad incidence while shopping in this store. One time I went into their fitting room to try some clothes on. I worked in retails before and it was completely normal for customer just to give back the clothes with the hangers separately. The people in the fitting room will just put the clothes back on the hangers. Since I know this can be painful on a busy day, I always try to put the clothes back on the hanger before giving them to the people in the fitting room. However, on that particular day, I had so much clothes with me and I was in a hurry so I did not have time to do that. When I gave the girl working in the fitting room my pile of clothes and the hangers, she gave me a cold look and said:"Next time put the clothes on the hangers!" I was taken back by what she said and her attitude but I just let it go since I thought I was my fault. It was not the first time I notice something wrong with their customer service. The staff their is cold and unhappy. Every time my friends and I walked out of the store, we automatically asked the other person if we ever did something wrong in their that the cashier was so mean to us. The worst experience ever happened to me in this store was last week when I came in to return some in-store and online clothes I got previously. The person who did the return for me should be a manager since she was wearing a grey suit which was different from the rest of the staff. She did not smile or even looked into my eyes when talking to me and the whole time she talked like murmuring to herself. After I told her I need to return something and she scanned my receipt, I realized I forgot to tell her I also wanted to buy shirt and said sorry to her that I actually needed to do an exchange. She murmured: "Great. You told me just now." I was really sad to leave the store that day thinking that she looked down on me for some reasons. I was fine if it was just the normal staff but even the manager treated me with no respect so I am no longer surprised at how bad their customer service is. This review is based solely on customer service via phone: Save yourself the frustration and don't bother calling the Troy, MI Zara because answering the phone appears to be optional. Last Friday, I went to the store and spoke to the manager about this and she gave me the unimaginative, rote response "¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We get really busy sometimes and it's hard to get to the phones." Duuuh!!!, that's understandable for any business, but this location takes it to the next level. This Zara store was pretty big, but had clothes all over the ground. I've been in Japan for the last 4 years and their stores were never messy compared to this one in Seattle. Everything in here is so pretty. I feel like if I buy clothes from Zara, I need to take a cruise or go to a high-end beachside resort. Most of their things are pricey, but if you go up to the second level there are things that are more reasonable. It's like a big step up from H&M. Absolutely rude staff. Tried returning some black pants in pristine condition, literally never worn. Staff refused and cowardly stood behind their "right to refuse". Well I'll stand by my "right to refuse" to shop here anymore. Used to come almost weekly but I guess no longer. For reference the pants were clean but maybe had some folds and that's all. Worst staff. So rude, we're just shopping, social distancing, and doing our own thing. Our masks are on but with our hands full, it's hard to fix every time it gets low from talking (even though we're still breathing down into the mask). The staff told us to pull it up so we did. But they wouldn't stop following us and spying on us trying to catch the moment it slips and ended up kicking us out. People in the store also noticed they were picking on us but oh well. It's no wonder the CEO for Zara was the richest man in the world. I will never spend my money at Zara again and here is why you shouldn't. I bought a pair of jeans (which turned out to be my favorite pair UNTIL) the seam tore within the first month of purchase. Luckily I was still within that 30 day mark (as ridiculous as it seems) and went to return the jeans altogether to get the money back on my card. Keep in mind this is now the third time this has happened. The issue is not only the fact that the merch sucks but how the managers handled the situation. They advised me that although I have my original receipt and I am within the 30 day mark, because these "defective" jeans were worn (as if they were supposed to just come home with me and hang in my closet?), I would not see any of my funds returned to my card but I could exchange for something of equal value. In a world where "the customer is always right" I am being dinged for a faulty pair of jeans. Not once did 1 of the 5 managers stop to say wow, this is ridiculous let me do what I can to make up for this, that does not include you reinvesting your money in a product that has clearly failed to impress through an even exchange. Next time I will go next door to Nordstrom as I recommend you do as well, pay more for higher quality, BETTER SERVICE and have the luxury of being able bring back practically anything worn, defective or not and see funds returned back to my card. read more

I shop at Zara pretty often, and I love it. This store though, I'm never stepping foot in even if they give me their entire stock for free. I was treated so horribly today, I was pretty sure it was because I'm a woman of color. But if you read the reviews below, you'll know that I'm not the only one who was treated horribly here and that they are pathetic across the board. Here when they train their employees about customer service, they basically teach them to go above and beyond-to harass them. To say they were rude, is the understatement of the millennium. To say that they are inept, won't even begin to describe their incompetence. And in addition to these wonderful qualities, they also come with a horrible, horrible attitude. Like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to spend $200 on a couple of dresses. The manager ( Bryan or Ryan, he refused to give me his name-lest I call out his horrible behavior and he has to suffer consequences) probably should stick to a profession that doesn't have him interacting with anything that's alive. I'm going to make sure I escalate this as far as I can, coz it's not okay to treat people the way they did. It's not okay to be in the arena of customer service, and act like you are doing the world a favor by just existing. Actually Zara is literally my favorite retail store to shop at in downtown Seattle. I use to have to go all the way up to Vancouver, British Colombia to have a look at the selection. Now there is one centrally located in the West Lake shopping mall in downtown Seattle. The selection of men's clothing is very unique. I hear there are design teams that quickly turn around design motivation. I've been to this location on sale events. Literally you can buy your new favorite Zara pieces at a pretty good price during sale events. I have several items from Zara and the quality has withstand the test of time. I'm going to keep shopping here. One thing I want to add is that the workers should take more time to acknowledge the customer. I know that some only stock items but if there is a customer on the floor no matter what your position is, you should really be acknowledging the consumer because there is a lot of room for competition. read more

I'm not really sure who Zara is trying to appeal to. They certainly don't provide good options for men. They're not cheap like H and M and they're not stylish like J Crew. They're somewhere in the ugly middle - expensive clothes that are kinda tacky. They go for a certain shock factor with some of the pieces, using leopard prints and the like. I admire this in principle, but they don't generally execute with much finesse. Other of the pieces, like the jackets, end up feeling soulless and bland because there's nothing distinctive about them. If you're young and you care about how you look, there are a whole range of other places that offer better style and/or better value. read more
