    Lamb Gosht Thali
    Tony J.

I've been here many times. Even though it is a takeout-only place, they have a lot of outdoor seating where you can enjoy your meal. Generally I prefer to order a thali where the main can be a curry or something dry like a chicken boti. I've also had the beef chapli burger, a fusion item unique to Zareen's. Tip: Don't get a sizzler here; it will be much better at the Cal Ave location, where they serve it on an actual metal hot plate.

We got take out from Zareen's after a ridiculously long flight and it reminded us why this spot continues to be our go to whenever we visit. Sheermal is always our favorite - melt in the mouth and freshly baked, and we paired it with a juicy assortment of kebabs accompanied by some delightful hari (green) chutney. The spice, the value for money, and the comfort of this meal hit all the right spots! As always. Packaging could be a little better, but hey, do yourself a favor and go get a bite of that divine Sheermal!

Post-COVID, the original Zareen's near Google headquarters now only does takeout, but that does not change its status as one of the most beloved culinary establishments in the Bay Area. Sure, compared to the food you might get on the streets of Pakistan or India, its flavors are slightly muted, but I find its milder taste distinctly unique. I always get a combo thali for the variety, and their chicken is consistently juicy. They also serve some of the best chai I have ever had!

There was a line but it went by fast. We sat outside and it had plenty of tables. The food came out pretty fast. The portions are big too so 2 people can share 1 dish. Everything was good and we were full.

Burrito 5/5 - this was so good! I thought a burrito would be too much with the tortilla but I am glad I got it! The tortilla is thin so it doesn't feel too heavy. The flavor is really good. And it is huge!! Good enough for two portions. I like the curry sauce that comes with the burrito, adds lots of flavor Also got their fries and they were a bit seasoned. The sauce is good too.

~ Smells like Heaven!! ~ As soon as you open the door, you are hit with SO many aromas!! I ate this 2 days in a row on my trip and did take out!! It tasted even better the next day! The service is so welcoming and sweet! Definitely get the Chicken tiki masala with garlic nan, the lamb curry, and chicken samosas !! And to wash it down TRY THE MANGO LASI. HONESTLY ANYTHING YOU GET HERE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. I LOVE THEIR FOOD !!

Man, the food at Zareen's is just flat out good. Different flavors and spices working together just gives so much flavor that's unique to anything western, really. This location is small. Seating is strewn about outside with no space for seating inside. There is a machine to place your order, along with menu items, inside. While the food is just really good overall, the fact that this is pretty much a take out location is disappointing with all of the plastic used and waste created. You gotta visit a Zareen's, and if you can, visit one of their restaurant locations.

Got takeout of lamb gosht ala carte and it was delicious, just not as creamy as I would prefer. I've also had the palak methi and it was so so plate-licking good, even after I froze it once. Super creamy and tender, just a hint of spice. The flavors at this establishment don't miss. Don't have anything to say regarding the service or ambiance since I've only done takeout.

I've had coworkers rave about this place and after seeing it ranking highly on Yelp this year, I knew I had to try it out since I was in the Mountain View Area! My friend got the Tikka Masala combo and I wanted to try something different today and got the Lamb Bhuna Gosht entree with naan. It was amazing! Super well seasoned and spicy. I think their food holds true to its authenticity even after the store rose in popularity. Naan- got it to dip in with my entree. Not the hottest or crispiest but did the job. Mango lassi is just ok imo. It's definitely creamy and has the sweetness of the mango but tastes a little watered down I think. Not the greatest I've had for 5.50. Their Chai is super good though! I'd get this over the lassi any day! It's definitely on the sweeter side but I think the sweetness complements the meal well which is more seasoned and spicy. Comparing the entree to combo, I personally think it's better to order the entree then the combo because it looks like you get twice as much when comparing containers. Note this location is fully to go, but there is some seating outside for small and bigger groups. I'd love to come back and try a different entree or try their dine in locations when I'm further up in the peninsula!

With its close proximity to 101, 85, a certain tech giant, and really damn good food, there's no wonder why Zareen's is such a South Bay/Peninsula staple. You can order through a number of delivery platforms, so getting your hands on this delicious food isn't too difficult either. While it is a mostly to-go restaurant (at least this location), they do have some outdoor dining available, which is great on a nice day, and the perfect stop before a Shoreline concert. The outdoor seating gets pretty packed, so either get their early, or prepare to pounce the moment someone gets up from their table. They have combos that are served with rice and salad, or you can order a la carte entrees. I've gotten a combo via delivery service for myself, but when dining with others the a la carte entrees are the way to go. On my most recent visit we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, and sides of rice and naan. This was plenty of food for two of us, and left us with a small amount of leftovers. Food was hearty and flavorful and had a little bit of heat, but nothing too intense. Would order all items again and look forward to going with more people sometime so that we can order and try even more from the menu!

I am not the kind of mom who eats kids leftovers all the time. So I wanted my own dosa. For drinks, I did a medium strong filter coffee ( they make it to your customization and I was surprised to see they even had jaggery). My 9 year old took a mango lassi. Food was incredibly satisfying. Servers are very attentive and they came three times to our table offering more chutney and sambhar. We already had enough but if you like more sambhar and chutney with your food, this is heaven. One server even came with ghee for my little ones for idlis. I was so grateful. He was genuinely sweet to my kid. Felt a connection than just a business! Ambiance is classy and relaxed at the same time. Nobody gave me the side eye when my three year old was a little noisy. Have a corner for takeout containers for leftover food, very generous. I would highly recommend this place for its delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. They have happy hour daily from 3-6 pm and when we went at 5.30, the restaurant was more than 70% full on a Thursday. Eat early and save money too. We really had a very good time! We ordered a few dishes, starting with the raw oysters with fermented chili sauce and curry leaf ponzu sauce. The shellfish was extremely fresh, and the condiments were refreshing and complemented it perfectly. I particularly loved the ponzu sauce, it was so zesty! We also ordered the jackfruit sliders, and they honestly gave major Mumbai Vada Pav vibes. They were spicy and extremely flavorful; I almost forgot it was jackfruit! The ananas (Pineapple) pani puri was a refreshing flavor bomb! For mains, we got the black truffle cheese naan with cultured butter. I loved the butter; the naan was filled with cheese, and the truffles weren't prominently earthy; hence, they added a touch of umami. We also got the Kali Miri paneer with garlic naan, along with the lamb and squash with quinoa pulao. The paneer and naan were probably the most classic-tasting dish on the table and were deliciously prepared. The lamb and squash were equally good, but the quinoa pulao was the real star, a little spicy and super minty. We also got the dosa, which was good, but it got a bit overshadowed by the other fantastic dishes. The little diner with us got the French toast with jaggery syrup and passion fruit ricotta ice cream, which he totally devoured. While I did not taste the French toast, I did sample the ricotta ice cream, and it was light, fruity, sweet, and slightly tart, but delicious nonetheless. The presentation wasn't performative or chaotic; it was stunning and minimalist. Also, shoutout to Chef Srijith Gopinathan for his distinct take on modern contemporary Indian Cuisine. The menu seems to have changed quite a bit from 2 years ago as I could not find most of the items old reviews on Yelp were referring to lol. So I had to mostly go with my gut feeling: the fried chicken (which is one of this place's signatures), the lamb shank and brisket (shocking to find beef in an Indian restaurant). By the way the manager dropped by and took our order: very patient, very kind, and knowledgeable (you bet) about the menu. The brisket was ordered per manager's recommendation. The starch that comes with the main dishes can be swapped out to your liking. Lamb shank: 5/5. Perfectly cooked, interestingly flavored. I particularly enjoyed the sauce. Finished it all. Fried chicken: 4.5/5. Tasty, flavorful, pairs well with the yogurt sauce that comes with it. Portion is on the small side so beware if you are sharing with over 4 people. Brisket: 2.5/5. The flavor is on point. The sauce that comes with it is good too. But the meat is a bit too dry or stringy for my taste. Perhaps I was too hyped and it did not live up to my expectations. Portion is pretty decent though. Overall I really enjoyed the environment and service here. Seems like a perfect place for business gatherings or special events. At this price point my bar for 5 star would be higher and unfortunately this place did not meet that bar this time. By the way, the waiter kindly offered to provide kid's menu options that are non-spicy as most of the items on the regular menu are spicy to some extent. We liked it hot but the little ones not so much.

As much as Mazra is great at/known for their meats, they also put so much thought and care into their vegetables. For example, our favorite mezza is their Whole Cauliflower, which is a massive cauliflower head that's roasted and then coated with a lemon tahini dressing. (They also give you more lemon to squeeze on it.) The cauliflower always comes out perfectly roasted; the inner parts are tender and toothsome, while the outer parts are crispy and a deep, golden brown. Another great vegetable option is their Veggie Plate, which is a plate overflowing with delights on a bed of their rice: falafel; a segment of their cauliflower; roasted broccoli and potatoes; their saffron mushrooms; and a halloumi roll. Each item is about as perfect as can be, and the sheer quantity makes it a fantastic deal. Of course, we still love their shawarma plates, which you can get with either chicken or steak shawarma. The meat comes thinly cut and tender, and somehow still a bit juicy! The plates are also a great value, since they come with a ton of great items that pair well with the meat. These include a rich, savory sauce (toum [garlic sauce] with the chicken, tahini with the steak) and two of their amazing sides. My favorite sides are the baba ghannoush (creamy and earthy) and their fries (golden, crispy, and pillowy). They continue improving the space, too. The pickup window makes it so much easier to get takeout, and they've really dialed in the flow of the inside and back courtyard seating areas.
