The zecto fries are a hit as well, you get the best of both worlds, comeback sauce, starch, and protein! Mac n Cheese was pretty basic and I feel like that can be improved a bit more as it is too runny and flavor kind of resembles like a more gourmet krafts mac n cheese but I still destroyed my meal. The sandwich was fresh and juicy while having a very solid kick to it as it should've, being extra hot. The ranch paired nicely while cooling it down. The fries were decent, didn't seem as fresh but the seasoning was good. Diet Pepsi was a little flat. Now here's where I really felt they missed the mark: the Mac and cheese. It was very watery and bland, reminded me of the boxed Kraft mac and cheese we used to love as kids; yikes! I couldn't eat more than a couple bites, so I hope it was just a bad batch. We got the chicken tenders medium heat and it wasn't spicy. The chicken tenders were very tender and juicy. The outside looks like there's 5 coatings of seasoning but just wasn't spicy. We also got the loaded fries with mango harbnero sauce on the side and those fries were really good. My friend got the loaded fries and it was drenched in sauce and came out super soggy. Ive actually had my glasses steam up. The 4th level of heat is more than Clyde's 1930 or Dave's hot, so I haven't had the xtra hot. My lips still tingle an hour after leaving, so who needs hotter than that? Fries are good, always crispy. Milkshakes are also way above standard. Criticism? We are spicy chicken lovers and frequently go to Dave's HC to get our fix. So this review is more of a compare and contrast on the two. My wife and I agree on these points (We ordered the Nashville Sando combo, a chicken burger with fries +drink). The chicken sandwich was larger and the meat was of a higher quality and more moist than at DHC. The bun was noticeably larger and of a much higher quality. The drinks were slightly smaller and not a self serve dispenser (behind the counter). We liked the fries more (texture & spice wise) and the portion is about the same as at DHC. We thought the presentation was better here than at DHC. We liked the chicken spices (we ordered hot). We also noticed the finished chicken product was much less greasy here than at Dave's. The staff was VERY attentive and we noticed the restaurant was cleaner than DHC (sometimes @DHC, the tables are not wiped down between customers). Overall, we really liked this place and will return. This was my second visit to Zecto Hot Chicken. After posting my first review, the owner invited me back to try their specialty menu items: the Zecto Fries. Let me tell you, this dish did not disappoint. It's a massive portion of crispy Buffalo fries topped with seasoned chicken bites, tossed in your choice of many sauces. I went with the Sweet Korean Chili and their Kickback Sauce ( I think that's what they call it) a tangy Thousand Island-style sauce, and the combination was absolutely incredible. Aaron, the gentleman who helped me out, brought the Zecto Fries to my table, and I was blown away by the sheer size of the portion--it's huge! The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the Sweet Korean Chili sauce added just the right amount of heat and sweetness. The fries were golden and crispy. I even ordered a side of their coleslaw and piled it on top for an extra layer of crunch and tanginess. It was a mouthful of fun with every bite. Before I left, Aaron surprised me with a complimentary home-baked cookie, and wow--it was the perfect way to end the meal. The cookie was moist in the middle, with a lightly crunchy exterior, and the chocolate was rich and decadent. Such a treat! Kudos to the other two employees who were working hard to make the food with hairnet and paying attention to hygiene. Nashville hot chicken is one of the best foods out there. Zecto's does not mess it up. Everything was seasoned well and fresh. The buns were moist, buttery, and put on the grill to crisp. I don't know what magic they put in their sauce but whatever it is, it has managed to enchant him. Today if the first time I've had this chicken and I have to say this will now be my favorite hot chicken spot! Their chicken was so flavorful and delicious! The heat was perfect the sauce was incredible! It's a solid 10/10. I have to say it is much better than Dave's hot chicken and that would be my go to spot. I actually got to meet the owner Matt, son and daughter, and they are a great trio serving all Halal meat, which is fresh, never frozen, farm raised; with no additives or preservatives. I don't think I've seen any other hot chicken spot that has Halal meat. The Nashville Sando was my favorite! I just love a good, spicy chicken sandwich! And with a big and juicy piece at medium heat, it was perfect! love that you can pick the hot level. I also tasted the bone-in wings with sweet Korean chili sauce and it was so good! The chicken tenders too...so flavorful! And I absolutely loved the Zecto fries, which are Buffalo fries with chicken bits slathered in their house-made Comeback sauce. It'll get you to come back for sure! They should totally bottle and sell this sauce! I also gotta mention there's a very cool game at the counter with a stop watch and button. Walking in this place feels like it's going to rock your socks. Greetings from behind the counter were pleasant above the norm. The decor, vibe and smell is welcoming. Chicken portions are huge compared to some other comparable spots. I thought I order Mac and cheese but received fries. I tried Zecto the first week they were open and I honestly didn't like it at all. It was a combo of quality and taste, and I wasn't interested in returning. Recently I saw somebody at work had Zecto leftovers in the fridge, so I decided to give them a second chance and see if they had improved in the past 2 months. Chicken - The quality of the chicken was much better the second time, it was thicker and juicy. The first time it was pounded super thin and was dried out. I got mild spice, as their medium was too hot for me the first time. It was just alright, and there was a sort of burnt aftertaste. Mac & Cheese - The first time the sauce was so runny that it was like water, it wasn't even sticking to the noodles, all the sauce was pooled up at the bottom of the container. This time it was still runny but not AS bad. It's definitely lacking salt though, it's super bland. Sauces - A combo comes with a free comeback sauce, theirs tastes like bbq sauce mixed with mayo. I prefer the comeback sauces at other chicken places I have been to. I paid for a side of ranch this time, it was better than their comeback. I most likely won't try Zecto again. There are a few other chicken places within a small radius of here that I know I would be much more pleased with. I'm glad it was better the second time, but it didn't make me a fan. read more
