I used to love this place until my nails got totally ruined by a new employee at Zegna. I was not able to make an appointment with Tatiana ( she is great btw and 2 stars go to her) and just went with the first available technician - Elena. The manicure was so painful, I got cuts on 7 of my nails (!!!) and ended up with infected fingers for the next 2 days. The manicure looked very uneven and some nails looked too thick. I went to another place to get this manicure removed and I was in shock when I was explained what happened to my nails - they were overfiled and had deep nail drill marks :( I will need at least 6-8 weeks for my nails to grow back, and I am stuck with thin fragile nails till the end of summer. First I would like to start off with the fact that every time I walk into this nail lounge I feel very luxurious and peaceful. The place is very clean and the staff is incredibly friendly. They take you into a private room and they have a TV that has Netflix so you can watch, get your nails done, and relax. I saw couple bloggers stories in instagram and I was went to this place. Just terrible! I had an appointment with them, and I felt bad on the street, a few meters from them. I decided to call them and see if I can make it. Nobody picked up a phone, I felt worse and took a cab, went home. Nobody called me, asked where am I like all reputable salons do. I received an automated message a few hours later with a request to pay them money. I tried to call again, they said not to call them. I gave up. Today they contacted me again asking for money. I guess it was the owner Irina, she talked to me on Instagram, saying that their services are charity, $65 for 2 hr manicure it's nothing and my name from now on on the list. I need to pay her $50. She said her salon barely survives , it's my responsibility to pay her. However, there is no cancellation policy information on their website, nothing when you book appointment, if they are so serious about it, they should update their information and pick up the phone when you call them. For the past 8 years I was doing manis and pedis by myself just because I was always suspicious of the cleanliness of the tools being used in nail salons. However, recently I found a real hidden gem in the heart of Manhattan. Forgive me for this banality, but it's true. It's a hidden gem because you won't see it walking on the street. This cozy nail lounge is located on the third floor. The Heart of Manhattan - what else would you call 5th Ave and 46th street? They can accommodate a maximum of 2 people at the same time. It works for me because I don't like those nail salons with a bunch of seats next to each other. It feels like a factory. I have to admit that, with Irina, I was finally brave enough to try out a gel manicure. I have pretty nice, natural nails and was always afraid to mess them up with gel. It is my fourth month of wearing the gel and my nails are fine and always look so neat. They use Luxio gel by Akzentz. It's UV/LED gel. Many lamps are called UV/LED because they have both rays of lights. The Harmful effects of UV and LED is questionable. I would like to study this subject more profoundly though. I liked the fact that the technicians always wear gloves and masks. They are extremely strict and thorough when it comes to disinfection. Irina told me that first, they wash all the tools with a brush and water. After this, there is a 3-step sanitation process - Ultrasonic Cleaner, High Temperature Sanitizer, UV Sanitizer. They use disposable files and buffers. I always take it home and reuse it later if needed. I'm very pro-recycling :) I also took my friend there and we had a nice girls' night out, pampering ourselves with manis, pedis, a glass of sparkling wine and watching "Breakfast at Tiffany's". I never write bad reviews but I am floored at how I was treated here. I had a regular manicurist who I used to go to and who specialized in Russian Manicures, which is hard to find in Manhattan, but unfortunately she had to close her studio, so I was super happy when I discovered Zegna Nails, even though they were significantly more expensive than her.  My first experience was pleasant so I was eager to return a second time.  When I got to my appointment promptly at 6:30, two of the manicurists were working on one client, doing a hand each.  Masha, who my appointment was with, asked me if I can wait 10 minutes which I was fine with....20 minutes later she came over telling me that they are almost done and if I can wait longer.  I asked how much longer, and she said 5 minutes. At 7pm, 30 minutes later than my set appointment,  I finally sat down to get started on my nails.  I asked for a simple design of a rose gold glitter heart on my ring fingers only. Masha said they only have silver glitter and she asked if I had booked design. I said yes, so she advised me to look at her Instagram page for other design ideas.  I picked a bird design and she said no problem, I can do it.  She finished cleaning my cuticles, put the base coat on and did one coat of the color I chose on my pinky to show me, I said I like it and what happened next is the reason why I will not be returning. While she was working on my nails she kept looking at the clock so that already felt off. Masha then tells me she can't do the design because I didn't book design.  I told her that's not true and showed her the multiple emails confirming that I booked design. She took a picture of them to send to her boss, Irina, but insisted she cannot do it because the salon was closing and she wouldn't have time and again stated I didn't book design on their system.  Honestly, if at the start she didn't lie to me and was honest that she ran behind and took me 30 minutes late and in turn won't have time, I wouldn't have been upset or at least would have had the option to decide if I want to stay...I was stuck now with the base coat on and with no other choice but to get plain nail polish on.  She claimed she is waiting for her boss to answer her to rectify this...well I guess because I spoke English (but understand Russian) they didn't realize that I was fully aware that Irina did call them to ask how much longer they will be and to inquire about them running late. Nothing was mentioned of my situation.  To add insult to injury, as Masha finished my nails, she had time to take pictures of my nails AND there was a Russian customer just starting to have her nails painted so she definitely would have had time to do the design on the two nails, or least offered to do a quicker design.  As I was leaving, Masha apologized and said her boss will rectify this. I have not heard anything from them.  Customer service should be number 1 and lying to a customer that they didn't book a service when it is clearly written on my booking confirmation just to save face that you took me late and won't have time, is not okay.  I certainly will not be returning because clearly they do not care about their clients, shows by the fact that the owner has yet to contact me to "rectify" this. Oh and to think I was about to book a returning appointment for myself and my friend...now that is 2 customers they have lost. So after this long detailed review, yes maybe the first or second time you will be treated appropriately but clearly there is no guarantee you won't experience the same as me on your next visit. read more
