After wandering the streets of Minneapolis for a meal, I Yelped upon Zelo. I seated myself on the patio and water and flatware quickly arrived with the promise of a server quickly. My waiter quickly arrived to take my drink order. I stuck with sparkling water although the cocktails around me looked really good. I ordered the burger and fries. Although a touch slow to come out, it was entirely worth the wait. I've never had such fresh tomatoes on a burger at a restaurant and the burger was excellent. The fries were good, not great. I love this place and have been here many times. I recently posted a rating after having a very poor experience with the service. Poor service at Zelos rarely happens so this experience was odd. Within a day or so I got a call from someone on their management team, sincerely apologizing for the experience and asking me to call them with details. The person I spoke to handled this issue in such a stellar concerned way - and passionate about preventing an experience like that in the future. Back to Five stars for service. We were here for a conference and it's been the best meal we've had in Minneapolis!!! We split the bruschetta and I had the House Ravioli and my colleague had the Chicken Alfredo and we were both blown away by the flavor and freshness of our dishes!!! I dropped by this place on a business trip. This is a classy place where you will see most of people are dressed up in their business formal clothes. Servers are also in professionally attire. I was served by Melissa who's very kind and recommended a very good appetizer - the tuna tartare. It's crunchy and flavourful. I would definitely recommend this to my friends. One star is deducted because the seafood linguine is diappointing. This would normally be one of the best dish you can get at a Italian restaurant. However, the sauce was a bit too light. All the seafood ingredients are not fresh at all. I understand Minneapolis is far away from either coast but I am from Chicago and we have fresh seafood there. Generally a good experience. read more

Had a great lunch with my daughter (7). Flavors were great. I was able to talk her into something that wasn't generic American fare (she got the parmesan shrimp and loved it). Fantastic appetizers -- we agreed with other reviewers that the Harvest Grain salad was excellent, and we also liked the Beef Carpaccio, which came with a nice salt/pepper mixture (maybe sea salt?), gorgonzola crumbles, and the usual arugula. Went with only 3 stars because the dinners were only okay -- we had Tortiglioni with a heavy-handed sausage/peas/tomato cream sauce, and a Chicken-Mushroom Risotto that was bland and had kinda tough mushrooms. Also, the "large" pasta portion wasn't very large at all compared to most Italian places. Service was friendly and ambiance was good (though a little brightly lit). We didn't sit outside but the patio looked nice, right on Nicollet Mall so good for people watching if you like that sort of thing. Doesn't seem like there are a lot of Italian places in Minneapolis, but if we go again we might just do appetizers. read more

This was a yummy place! My girlfriends and I went spur of the moment on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full, but they had a spot in the bar for us, and it was nice. I didn't know that I was in a bar... the one problem with our seats was that we were near a door, and it was winter, so we kept getting bursts of cold air when people went in and out. Not the best The food was delicious. It reminded me of Biaggi's in Maple Grove. Our whole table got pasta, probably because it was in the $15-25 range (with tax/tip). Everyone liked their food. The one note was that when the waitress explained how big the portions were for the "small" plates of pasta, she underguesstimated and everyone thought we'd have to have the large plates in order to get enough food. In reality, almost everyone took home extra food. I know I wish I had saved the $4 and just gotten the small portion. So the pasta is either rich enough or portioned big enough, I think you could probably get by on the small (or split a large and order an appetizer). read more

We happened on this spot for lunch. The elegance and food preperations was so classy and the food was just plain wonderful.The Walleye Sandwich and the varied appetizers were to die for. Delicious meal in Minneapolis! We had a larger group and received excellent service. We started out with the calamari, burrata, cauliflower, and wild mushroom flatbread. All of the small plates were delicious. The burrata was very creamy, but I would have liked extra balsamic vinegar on it. Next we ordered the spinach fettuccine with chicken, tortiglioni rossa and spicy crab spaghetti. Hands down the tortiglioni rossa was the best. So creamy, savory and delicious. The spicy crab spaghett was a bit disappointing. The sweet crab flavor didn't really come through as much as I expected. And the spinach fettuccine was good but not exciting. Finally, we ended with the caramel sea salt custard, pumpkin butter cake and budino. Get the caramel sea salt custard! It is sooooo delicious! Creamy pudding with bits of caramel popcorn and a bit sea salt to temper the sweetness. So amazing. The pumpkin butter cake was very buttery and tasty but the custard was so much better. The budino was just an average dessert you could get at any restaurant with a molten lava cake. I will definitely be returning to Zelo when I go back to Minneapolis! read more

I resigned myself to Italian food after receiving not so great bar service at the Butcher and the Boar. I was here on business, so not familiar With the restaurant scene here. As soon as I sat down at the bar at Zelo, I was greeted with a friendly hello, water, charming bartenders and immediate service. I got the burrata, which was wonderful, and the ravioli was PHENOMENAL. Lightly sauced, not heavy, and cooked to perfection. So good, in fact, I came back the very next day. For those of you who love a stellar glass of wine with your pasta- their wine list is awesome. They have Mt Veeder by the glass, which is one of my faves. Highly recommended! We were seated in the bar area but when an outside table came available Benjamin, the host asked us if we were still interested in moving. Our server Heather recommended the Ahi tuna and we had the heirloom salad. Both were amazing! Go and visit Benjamin and Heather and on a nice night sit outside....you won't be disappointed!
