Wow. I work nearby and have to be in the area early on Wednesdays. I was unusually hungry at about 9am and looking for something substantial that wasn't your usual breakfast (I just wasn't feeling eggs today). Found this place on Yelp and thought it would complement the concha I was saving for later well in this Semana de Los Muertos. So I stuck my head out to see if this truck was really there and, sure enough, there it was. Thought about getting a wet burrito (an idea derived from another review, since I didn't actually see it on the menu), but then I followed my heart to the cemitas. No regrets. I got the cemita de carnitas with salsa verde, as well as a huge agua fresca (limonada). Sat down at my office and practically deepthroated that sandwich. The meat was excellent, the bread and cheese were fresh af and tasted as authentic as what I eat in my homeland (El Salvador), and the salsa was perf. I really love that the agua fresca has chia seeds, since I was accustomed to that growing up before the American hipster discovered it. Also, it was super cheap, and less than what most people pay to park a few blocks away. And if you're feeling really brave, go ahead and bite into that pepper. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

Hands down our favorite lunch truck in town. Try the cemitas, burritos, or birria. Ice cold drinks and always super fast. You could certainly try every other spot on the block, and still choose this one. You'll recognize this truck now as "Zermeños Catering" or "Birrieria Zermeños", just south of Victoria on Lincoln in Venice.

CEMITAS are a type of Mexican sandwich (from Puebla). Not the torta you're use to getting from a typical taco truck, they have much denser, heartier buns, and the insides are heartier to match. This is not a dainty little sandwich. Don Felix's Cemitas are AMAZING! Amazingly generous portions of nicely-seasoned meat, zesty (but not overpoweringly spicy) red sauce, many slices of avocado, shredded cheese... this sandwich is generously made, it's an entire meal. The ingredients are perfectly matched to give you rich flavors. I can't believe it's only $7! BURRITOS and TACOS - all excellent, and also generously filled with flavorful ingredients. A good fallback if you're not in the mood for a Cemita. Whenever I've come here there are always Latinos getting food. That's always a good sign, when the food is being eaten by the people who grew up with it (like going to a sushi place and seeing lots of Japanese people there).

Hamburger special w/ grilled onions & added avocado. Guava agua fresca.

This unassuming taco truck has the best carne asada burrito in Los Angeles.

I believe it was Daria (not sure if I spelt that correct) was my server who took the time to explain some of the amazing features. She suggested I sit at the bar as I was alone in business and introduced me to the bartenders. Being Canadian she made it a point to one of the bartenders that liked hockey and introduced me. I was impressed with her knowledge of the various entree's so I asked her to pick my main and whatever drink she thought would go great with it. I couldn't have had a better meal as I don't normally order fish but the pan seared sea bass. Pescado Zarandeado was amazing. Cooked perfectly and paired with a hibiscus margarita that was on par with the meal. Thank you to the kitchen and owners along with the 2 servers behind the bar and Daria for such a great experience. I liked it so much I came back a few days later for tacos which were also amazing. The service was great again even though it was a very busy evening. I will be back and I will suggest this as a must to any friends traveling to the Venice area.

We waited about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, and once we were seated, the service felt rushed, as if they wanted us in and out rather than making us feel like valued customers. The person I was dining with and I both left feeling disrespected. The food was decent, but nothing memorable. I've had much better Mexican food at small family-owned restaurants, and honestly, even my parents make dishes with more flavor and authenticity. If you're looking for average Mexican food, this place might meet your expectations, but it didn't meet ours. Ironically, the nicest part of the restaurant was probably the bathroom. Overall, the service and atmosphere overshadowed the food, and I wouldn't choose to come back.

The bar is beautiful and well-stocked with every kind of tequila imaginable; you can wait there for your table. (Carlos has even authored a novel entitled Tequila). There is entertainment most evenings. A separate tequila cart moves around the restaurant for your convenience and enjoyment. Margaritas mixed at your table! We've enjoyed delicious food - and freshly made tortillas (two señoras at a grill right in the middle of the restaurant) - over some 20 years. The ambience is reminiscent of Rick's Café Americain from the movie. Be sure to examine each of the photos on the website. There is Casablanca paraphernalia everywhere - on the walls, ceilings and bathrooms. A life-sized statue of Humphrey Bogart is enclosed in glass. A mural of Rick's Café on one wall includes Carlos and Ivonne sitting at one of the tables. If that's not a good reference, I don't know what is!

This isn't one of them. The atmosphere still has that classic charm, the food is just as satisfying, and one of the best traditions is still alive: watching fresh, hot tortillas being made right in front of you. The service is still warm, friendly, and welcoming. In a city where so much changes, it's refreshing to see a place that has stood the test of time and continues to deliver a great experience. Here's to the restaurants that become part of our memories and keep making new ones for generations.

Taco Tuesday is always packed, but the staff does an impressive job keeping things moving. The process is simple--you get your ticket and the team serving the tacos does most of the heavy lifting. Even with the crowds, service has consistently been fast, efficient, and attentive. The food is very good, and the energy is always lively. My most recent visit was no different. Everything ran smoothly, the tacos were great, and our servers stayed on top of things throughout the meal. The only odd part of the evening happened as we were getting ready to leave. I stopped by the bar and asked the bartender for a cup of ice. He acknowledged me but never came back with it. While I was waiting, another guest next to me mentioned he was also having trouble getting service at the bar, while other customers appeared to be getting helped. I don't know the circumstances and don't want to make assumptions about why that happened, but it definitely felt strange. After waiting several minutes, I went back to my original server and she had the ice for me in about a minute, which reinforced my overall impression that the service team is generally very attentive. I don't like pretentious bartenders and I know their job is busy as heck. That again felt weird. Despite that one awkward interaction, the overall experience was excellent. Great tacos, a fun atmosphere, and a staff that usually does a fantastic job handling the Taco Tuesday rush. I'll definitely be back.

"Hoda" saw things differently -- she would not secure bags as every single other restaurant in the country does. No, she would be a rebel and leave those bags loosely tied, inviting drivers to help themselves to whatever was inside. And if food happened to fall out of the bag onto the ground after pickup? Well, it's the driver's responsibility after pickup so more than likely, the food goes back into the bag. Anyone who cares so little about food security should not be working in food service.
