My friends ordered the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE, the NOODLE BOAT SOUP, the PAD THAI, and the YELLOW CURRY. The PAD RAMA was fantastic. The peanut butter sauce was super creamy and I think had coconut milk in it too giving it that extra richness. It also wasn't overly sweet which was a plus. The chicken was cut nice and thin and there were lots of vegetables. The PAD SEE EW was alright. The waiter warned our group that a 3 star was a 4 star at another restaurant, and he was definitely right. While we enjoy spice (and often order 4-5 stars at other restaurants), 2 stars would've been adequate. It was spicier than the pad Rama, but that was likely because the pad Rama had sauce to cut the spice. Everything else enjoyed their dishes. At the restaurant, we decided to try the basic Pad Thai and then the chicken fried rice. It was yummy but not as big of portions as I've had other Thai restaurants. (But that was ok, we didn't need leftovers anyway.) I gave only three & 1/2 stars for the following reasons. 1. Inside felt "dated" and a bit forgotten (see pics) 2. The service was "ok" I was hoping for more conversation or interest in us. 3. The area outside was very dark. It looked like the entire block was closed! 4. The curry puffs were a little expensive at $11.95 for 3 of them. (So we didn't get them) On a positive note, a nice touch was the soft music playing and the program on the tv showing beautiful images of Thailand. (See pics). So we stopped by Taan Thai Cookery and had a delicious meal. We shared an appetizer of spring rolls - crispy and delicious, served in the tiny mesh basket they were fried in. The plum sauce was the perfect taste to accompany them! Then my wife had a bowl of Thai fried rice with shrimp. The rice was slightly nutty and slightly sweet, and the rest of the ingredients were well-prepared and cooked. I had the Thai Beef Soup, which is similar to Pho, but spiced differently. It was also delicious, and with the 3-stars of heat, it was just about perfect! (I might go for 4 stars next time, as I like spice and heat in my food.) Our meal was delivered to our table quickly, and we spent a leisurely hour just eating and talking, and enjoying our time and the food. Highly recommend this place for good food! Used to go to the Shelton one a lot unfortunately it closed down but they would give you huge portions of food and the quality was amazing. The staff are super nice. The owner is a sweetheart and you feel like family after walking in the place.
