Old school since 1954. We stopped by on a rainy Sunday morning to have breakfast. The place is falling apart and the roof is leaking. We ordered the Spanish omelet with potatoes and a small French toast. The food was okay it lacked flavor and the toast didn't have any cinnamon added which also lacked flavor. I love these old diners but this place needs some help with keeping it clean and preparing the food better. In an area where Mexican food can be predominantly found on practically every corner, Zig's is a refreshing yet satisfying (and cheap) alternative. It's hard to find an old school diner that just serves your basic breakfast or lunch for under $10. If you want breakfast in this area, the majority of the places are either Mexican or overpriced bougie organic spots that charge $18 a plate and you're left still hungry. Zig's is the happy medium. I don't know if it's inflation or trying to keep up with the competition but it seems like every spot we used to enjoy in this area has either disappeared or seemingly increased their prices. It makes me legit sad when I pay $30 for 2 plates and I'm still scrounging around for my 2nd breakfast. So not the case here. My usual is the 2+2+2 which is 2 eggs, 2 sausages with 2 crepes with a side of potatoes... all for a whopping $9! And get this...I'm full when I'm done eating it! Just the right amount to help me get through my morning and for the fraction of the price! You can't ask for better than that. Mind you this is a local family owned business / diner. If you love a place where people know each other, servers are familiar with your little quirks and the money is put into the food and not the decor....Zigs is the place for you. When you park behind the restaurant, it seems like it could be a bad place, but once you're inside you realize you've found a gem. The staff are incredibly sweet! The food I truly amazing!!!! The waitress told us that the cook is really great and that all the food is made freshly right there and then. And it IS evident. I have been going to zigs restaurant for years and have always received good service until today October 1,2020. There is a woman that works there at the window who is very rude and she spoke to me in a very unfriendly, condescending tone. The first time I went to place an order with her she demanded that I wear my mask even though I was outside and took it off for a minute to catch my breath. Today Oct. 1, 2020 she said that she would not serve me and not to come back again because I was endangering people by taking My mask off. She made me feel inferior to her and like I was a low life piece of garbage. What a sad day we live in when the customer is treated like he or she is not wanted or welcome. I so want this place to succeed! I've been coming here for decades, and it is a good, reliable, diner. They make very good onion rings, and I enjoy their western style burger. Breakfast here is fantastic, and as evidence it can get very crowded in the mornings. My main criticisms of the place are that it just isn't well cared for. The menu consists of pictures that don't do the food justice. The paint is faded and the outside facade could use some TLC. Don't get me wrong I love love love the classic diner vibe and wouldn't want them to change that, but it could use a little touch up here and there... Also, it's a shame they aren't open later, even just for an early dinner... I often find myself craving some Zig's as I drive home from work, but they are closed by then... The staff is wonderful, super friendly and efficient. I hope that the owner decides to invest a little in sprucing the place up a bit, I'd give them another star if they could make the place a little more appealing! (One last nitpick, please learn how to work your "OPEN" signs! I often drive by at night and the window is blazing "OPEN" while the place is totally dark and most certainly closed! Ordered for breakfast at home and I was not disappointed! Forget big chains go with a small diner, especially now. I could tell they cared what they served up, even for delivery. I got coffee, biscuits and gravy with two eggs over easy with bacon. For future orders I thought I'd also order a stack of pancakes. Everything arrived hot and it was truly delicious and comforting. Biscuits were perfect and the sausage gravy was divine! Pancakes are huge (too big for me to finish everything in one sitting) but I'm glad I tried it for future orders. You want a good diner breakfast go or order from here. Oh and with my coffee I got a bag full of different creamers and all types of sugar. The biscuits are moist and slightly dense, but in a good way. The gravy is without meat. It could use more seasoning but was pretty good. Since my nickname is Zig this used to be one of my favorite spots. This used to be Zig's- Home of the Bullet. And the bullet was amazing, because the meat was exceptionally and the bread was great. I used to come here a lot back in the day. I brought my daughter here to give it shot, we love diner type spots. My daughter looked at a pic of the burger and was sold. I on the other hand saw it was $5.99 pastrami sandi special Monday and was sold. The pastrami is grilled so that makes is realllly salty. But it was good, but Nothing special, even at $6. But I got a taste of my daughters burger, spectacular, seriously awesome meat!! Younwont be disappointed in the burger, that's for sure. Service was kind of crappy, not very friendly, but the reason it gets a 3 and not a 4 star is because when I got the bill it was $11.99 for the pastrami sandi combo. What? To "make it combo" add $6. Double the price????? I'm pretty sure they thought I'd never notice or wouldn't care. I just didn't want to wait 20 minutes while someone figures out it was Pastrami Monday. Not cool. Food was good and if they actually charge you what the list price was, its a great deal, enough to over look the slow and not so friendly service. This is just for the experience I had today, as previous visits were ok. They're pretty good with a simple egg breakfast and the pancakes are pretty good. Today, I decided to try something different here, Eggs Benedict, which was a mistake. First it took them a bit longer to get my breakfast to me which is rare. The hollandaise was chunky, did not look appetizing at all, no flavor to it at all. I asked the waitress if indeed this was supposed to be a Hollandaise and she informed me if they remake it, it will take another 20 minutes. I opted to just scrape it off the sauce of my the poached eggs and eat what I can salvage. read more

Zig's has been around a while, it's a classic diner with a large menu and breakfast is served all day. The décor is pretty tacky but the food is OK, and the service is attentive and friendly. If you're in the neighborhood or passing by it's worth stopping in for breakfast or lunch, but not really going out of your way for. Has a nice vibe and a really diverse clientele. If you do stop in, you'll probably feel like you're in the Midwest somewhere, except that the waitresses are Asian or Hispanic, and at least one of the cooks looks like he might be from the Middle East. read more

This place has terrific, homemade flavored food. I get breakfasts, as well as steak dinners from this tiny gem in the middle of a parking lot. I usually call my order in. It only took a few orders for the server, and cook to remember how I liked my food the previous time. The consistency of the meat quality, the house made ranch, and the chicken fried steak is time travel questioning, and nostalgically... moving. The servers are friendly, and professional. They have been there forever, if you ask them. The answer comes with a smile. Tons of regular customers pictures decorate the walls, as well as sit at the U shaped counter in the middle of this throw back, to good old school diner food. This little hole in the wall is totally hidden. I'm so glad my husband noticed it one Saturday afternoon while we were hitting up Hobby House. Very small inside, diner style. Booths and a few tables and a counter to sit at if you want. The menu is only two pages long, prices are great! I had to indulge in The Bullet. All beef patty, cheese, carmelized onions, ortega chile! (yuuuuum!), mayo....it was seriously the best burger I've had in a long time. The patty may have been a tinge better had it been hit with some salt and pepper first, unless it was but just not enough. My husband had the veggie burger and commented that it was the best veggie burger he's ever had. The burgers don't come with fries or anything so you need to order that stuff separately. We got an order of fries and fried zucchini. The fried zucchini tasted incredibly fresh, it was not soggy at all like I've had at other places. I found myself totally eating my husbands zucchini over my fries. For all of that, our bill was only $23. Not bad. Plus we got a diet coke that we shared. Waitress was super nice. There were a few people in there and she was the only waitress there and she was still so on top of getting us refills constantly. We never had to get her attention or ask her for anything, she found us before we needed to do that ourselves. The only thing I was sort of iffy about was that the waitress was walking around with a fly swatter trying to swat at a fly. Sort of made me want to dry heave a little but I quickly forgot about it once I bit into my bullet burger. Ample parking as it shares a lot with a lot of the neighboring businesses so parking isn't an issue. For a Saturday afternoon/evening I was surprised that there weren't a ton of people there. The place really is that good! I want to come back here to try something else before I give this place a 5 star rating. read more
