what started out as a nice evening with friends ended up in disaster! We met at the Zinc Lounge, nice atmosphere ........ great food. Service was lacking, had to get Mgr to get us drinks which she comped, was nice since we had waited so long to get them. Waitress apologized as well. All is okay right up to the 30 - 45 minute wait getting our check! ugh! after asking everyone we got up to leave and finally saw our waitress. She has soooo many excuses! anyway....didn't stop there. Valet was a complete disaster! NEVER have I seen such "unprofessional" conduct toward customers. First they charge 2 different prices not knowing our husbands were together. After being questioned about the difference in price the Valet Attendant got very "cocky" to say the least and continued to "mouth off" to them. He didn't like the fact he had been called out on his price difference. He charged my husband $15 and our friend $8....get this...after they questioned him he told our friend his "new" charge were $15!!! When my husband went inside to get the Hotel Mrgs name the valet attendant actually tried to "barrel" past my husband as he was going in the door. The owner of this Hotel really needs to take a GOOD look at his operational staff. Every place has their issue and you can apologize all you want BUT you need to walk the walk! My best girlfriend planned my baby shower here in the patio area and everything was beyond amazing. Alyssa the manager made sure everything was set up perfectly and that all our needs were taken care of. We had an adorable coral table cloth provided by the hotel on our table, and my girlfriend set up all of her own center pieces. It was so nice having everything outside for that real Southern California vibe. The waitress was prompt constantly filling our champagne glasses and asking if we needed another bottle. On top of everything being so perfect as far as scenery, the food was amazing! The salad with strawberries and walnuts was delicious, the fries were to die for, and the margarita pizza was so good. I now have a craving for their fries and have been back twice already (pregnancy cravings!) I highly recommend this place for any small event on the patio. Wednesday, May 8 my lady friend and I made the wise decision to try Zinc@Shade for dinner. Outstanding is a way to describe our experience. Our Waitress, Hailey, is a charming young lady who could not have been more ideal. Bright, friendly and very informative, her recommendations for food and wines was perfect. By the end of dinner she was family. Our bartender, Steve, made the most well balanced Old Fashioned and Bourbon Sour cocktails we've had in a very long time. Know this well because my two kids are talented bartenders. One at a major area resort the other recently named Best bartender in Western Michigan for 2018. Steve was detailed and as cordial as Hailey. The food is incredibly delicious and we had the opportunity to tell Graham, the chief, as much. The man takes great pride in what he does and it's evident. Had to ask for the manager, Kayla, to compliment her on either the wisdom of her hiring's or training of her charges. Rare to meet such a gracious individual as she but a perfect fit to the lounge. Won't be long before we return. read more

The evening started off well as we were there before the crowd. Once, the bar began to fill up, our service went way down hill. There were not enough servers and we sat for a long time waiting to order drinks. The manager ended up taking our order. Then we waited at least 30 minutes for our check after requesting it multiple times. The final straw was the extremely RUDE valet attendant who started an argument with the two men in our group over the rates! He was very crass and abrupt and did not know when to keep his mouth shut. Apparently, he lacked any training in customer service! What a disaster! We will NEVER go back and neither will our friends! read more

My husband, friends and I had a beautiful breakfast at zinc@Shade last Sunday. Our server, Danielle and Manager Alissa, were incredible. They made sure our friends, who just 2 months ago had their first child, were comfortable and made sure their needs met with a new baby. We all enjoyed a very delicious breakfast (I had the Farm to Table Omelet and my husband had the Huevos Rancheros) that we have been craving since! The atmosphere was perfect on the Terrace. Fresh air, a very tasty meal and the company of great friends made for an awesome start to our Sunday! We will definitely be dining at Zinc again soon! read more

I'm not a Hotel bar lounge kinda guy, but this place serves the best eggs Benny I've ever had while living in the Southbay. Can't go wrong bringing family, friends, or a date. The atmosphere is beautiful, lots of elbow space at the bar and tables. The seating arrangement is great for a guy of my height of 6'3" and clearly anyone shorter. I'm picky about that stuff I guess. The bartender was a jersey kid named Brock. This guy was my inspiration for jumping on yelp. He recommended the eggs Benny and served me some of the best Vodka mixed drinks anyone could dream up. Great service from Brock this past Sunday for brunch! The staff there all in all really struck me as hard working kids, really going the extra mile to make anyone new in town feel like a million bucks. I'm coming back this Sunday for sure! I enjoy lunch at Zinc at least once a week. The food is always consistent and the service is excellent. The staff is nice and helpful. Most often, my waiter is Gustavo. He's always prompt and friendly. I love the new lunch menu that includes a soup & salad combo! Best Brunch place around town!!! Sunday 11/2 around 1pm my best friend and I decided to have brunch at Zinc as first timers and we were not disappointed . Our waiter Ryan was funny, attentive, personal and made us feel like we were the only table he was serving when he clearly had other guests. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the home made biscuits and gravy and I would 100% recommend and reorder those two dishes again!!! I also enjoyed the cucumber and pear martini and it was refreshing and sweet with a kick , not you know what i mean ;) ... a little pricey but I absolutely loved it !! We both spoke to the manager on site and raved about how wonderful our experience was and we can't wait to come back! She told us Thursday nights there is live music and that guests can host showers, birthdays or any small private event through out the week and bring in your own cakes and champagne for no extra fee. Had dinner here last night to celebrate my husbands 25th birthday and I completely over looked that reservations were required. The girl at the front desk was so friendly and accommodating we had a table in two minutes I couldn't believe it. our server was great she had a large area to take care of with a few large parties and still managed to keep a touch on every table. The food was delicious!!! I wish we would have taken a few pictures and as a family group of nine we all stole a bite from one another ill start with apps we had the buffalo pops, truffle mini sliders, poke tacos, and the Brie grilled cheese all finger licking good. For the entrées the paella was by far one of the best we've had next my grandmas the shrimp pappardelle and the pizzas were delicious. Our desserts took a little bit of a wait but for one of the softest and fluffier freshly made churro every minute was worth it. read more

Wonderful meal at Zinc and we enjoyed eating outside on a beautiful summer night. The service was very good and the hotel is in a great location. Started with the grilled cheeses and a meat cheese platter with drinks (the Sangria was yummy) and never looked back. Had a large group and we tried the poke and asada tacos, lobster corn dogs, calamari, sliders, fries, the sashimi platter, short rib spring rolls, heirloom tomato salad, shrimp, and the hawaiian short rib tacos. Still hungry? No but somehow we managed to eat lemon cooler and macadamia nut cookies and cake pops too! This restaurant/lounge has got to be one of the most underrated restaurants in all of Los Angeles. Greg, the executive chef is unbelievably talented....and the food here is simple yet done to perfection. The tomato soup is the best I have ever had....their breakfast is exceptional, and the pizzas are fantastic....everything on the menu is very tasty. They have outdoor seating on the patio that is great for those beautiful Manhattan Beach afternoons where you can sit and watch the scene in the Metlox Courtyard while the sunshines down....It is part of the Shade Hotel, which is one of the coolest boutique hotels I have ever been to. Go for dinner, or stay for a weekend....either way you will leave more than satisfied! read more

Invited a few close friends to Zinc Lounge @ Shade for a Friday night birthday celebration and we all enjoyed the experience immensely! The lounge area is very elegant and is a beautiful backdrop for a classy setting for entertaining. The staff was very attentive and quite accommodating to me and my guests. Without a blink, they provided special seating for one of my senior guests. All of our food orders were very satisfying. The calamari was excellent! Topping off the evening was the DJ who played all the current and oldie's jams! Although there is no dance floor and you might feel a bit uncomfortable getting up to dance, you quickly shake that off because you can't stay in your seat. Live within distance of Zinc at the Shade, but had never been till I had a last minute business meeting. Victor our waiter for the evening was phenomenal! The entire staff went above and beyond their job descriptions. The attorney who I now freelance for, loved Zinc so much that he commented about Zinc at the Shade in Manhattan beach to his associates whom now have dinner with family and other asssociates or meetings their regularly.
