Alex was very responsive throughout the planning and execution process, and even oversaw the entire installation. His crew were dedicated and skilled workers who were very kind. Scope of the project included covering an existing concrete slab. Alex made sure to add 3-4 inch rebar dowels every 24 inches and wire mesh to give the new layer something finer to hold on to, in addition to the binding agent for a more firm fusion. We also paid extra for the 3,500 PSI rated concrete given the Texas heat. Further, he extended the sides of our driveway, replacing the paver stone and gravel with level concrete. This also included fixing part of the walkway that had been pushed up by Live Oak roots, which was a tripping hazard, and now forming a smooth transition. Alex was also great when it came to pricing. He was very transparent, and me not being a concrete guy, asked a good friend who's been a general contractor for 30+ years to review the proposal and methods, and follow the work, all of which he said was done expertly. One was privacy, on front, ours was iron on front and it's about an acre the had to fence off on 3 sides with chain link & the other neighbor only had the posts put in because our ground apparently is not made of dirt, just rock and unlike us, that neighbor has some great carpentry skills. We also had several stone columns. The masonry guys came on the date scheduled & on time. We were amazed at how quickly they went up. Employees were very nice & gave us our privacy. No slacking off. Very respectful. It was near the holidays so it took a little while before the front went up. went But they also had to order additional parts for a change our neighbor made. They came earlier than scheduled. Those employees were also great. Never saw them even turn to look at our home as they walked back and forth through the back (our many windows have no curtains). They came on time, never saw them slack off. I don't think I even saw them leave for lunch. When they were done for the day, they cleaned up. The foreman even noticed some materials we didn't order that would help keep the fence from moving around. So it was ordered & they installed same day. Not only that, the only winter day we had in texas happened to be the last day they had to finish. He asked if they coukd work on sunday & we said of course. But he told us they might wait until winter was over, on Monday. But the next day on Sunday, when it was crazy cold, they showed up and by the end of the day they were done! Foreman came to ask if it was all good. And then they left on their merry way. Our emails with questions were answered promptly and usually the same day. The fence looked great. A couple weeks later, maybe earlier, we received another email to check in on us & find out if there was anything that we needed. Highly recommend.

I'm writing this review for my overall experience dealing with Northwest Fence & Iron and not for…read morethe finished product. Everything went fairly smoothly up until the day of the installation of my iron fence surrounding my home. A few days prior to the scheduled installation, I asked the representative if there would be someone supervising the installation who speaks fluent English. He said there wouldn't be anyone supervising because his wife was scheduled to go into labor on that day. He reassured me there would be no issues and the workers would know EXACTLY what they needed to do. I reiterated to him how important it is they install the iron fence low enough to prevent my dog from digging a hole escaping. I reluctantly agreed to proceed with the installation based on his reassurances. The day of the installation, the workers showed up at my door and the first thing one of the workers did was hand me a cell ph and someone with Northwest told me, "Can you tell them where to install the fence" I told him I already went over all this with my rep and I do not feel confident communicating with workers who do not speak English. I ended the call and immediately called the rep and told him that someone needs to get down here and communicate everything we had already went over. The rep came down and told the workers where to install everything. I asked him who I should contact at the office if there is a problem and reminded him what he told me about the workers knowing exactly what they need to do. He responded by saying, "I thought it wasn't an issue to you that they don't speak English?" This was NOT what I stated and told him I only agreed to allow the installation to proceed because of his reassurance they would not need any additional guidance during the installation. Sure enough, after they got started prepping the ground and installing the fence, the gate was being installed too high, leaving a large gap at the bottom, and I tried to communicate this with the workers with no luck. I told the workers to stop completely and, at this point, I was really starting to lose my patience. I immediately called the Northwest office and told them the fence was being installed too high from the ground and how they needed to send someone over immediately or I would be sending the workers away for the day. They sent someone down about 30 minutes later and he communicated with the workers, the proper way to install the fence. I asked the supervisor to stick around to ensure there were no more issues. They 'completed' the installation and they had forgotten to attach adhesive to the caps on the fence posts as well as failing to install the latch on the side gate. They had to return two separate times, requiring me to take time out of my day to be here, to complete the gate lock installation and attach the caps properly. I also started finding pieces of sharp metal in my lawn they failed to clean up which posed a major safety hazard for our family and dog. All of this nonsense could have been avoided if the representative assigned to my project would have scheduled the installation at a time when he could have been present to supervise and inspect the work being done by the subcontractors they hired...

He came out the next day to have a look and recommended capping the existing concrete as the quickest and most affordable option. He wasn't the cheapest quote, but he had good suggestions for improving the look, the leveling, and drainage which was also important for us. He and his crew came out the next week and finished the job in a day. It looks great (we get compliments), it's all usable space now and it drains much better. I'd give five stars, but he left his blower at home and so left our furniture and other things covered in concrete dust from a little demo they had to do. That said, I would recommend you get a quote from Juan if you need concrete work.

So, Ive been calling to make appointments to price out what this will cost. Every company I have talked to has been well represented by whomever answers the phone. A very rough voice, kinda what you would here if you didnt want to answer the phone, answers the phone. Its a woman on the other end. I can hear in her voice that she has probably had a tough day. However, Im a potential new client... I ask to make an appointment to get a quote. "Since you're an HOA, we charge a consultation fee. Thats how we handle it.". I say "Well then, I am not interested." and hang up the phone. Let me give you some advice... If you have a potential new client on the phone and the first thing you start with is fee this or fee that... You are not going to get that client. You have no idea the work we want done here or the amount of projects you could have received. In your line of work, if you're good at what you do or charge the amount that is consistent with going rates, you wouldn't need to charge HOAs consultation fees. If I was random Joe Shmow, I wouldn't have been charged is what that tells me. So instead of coming out to show your work or what you could have done to gain more work, you were a bit rude and started with fees. You just lost some business.
