I was hoping for onion bagels, and luckily they had a couple left. From the moment I walked in, I got the warmest welcome from the owner. He genuinely seemed happy I found the place and took the time to chat. He even gave me the number and said I could call ahead next time and they'd have my order ready--and even bring it out to the car. The bagels were exactly what I've been missing--fresh, flavorful, and right. But what really stood out was the kindness and genuine hospitality. This is the kind of small business you root for. The outdoor seating also wasn't the most enjoyable. It was quite loud, the seating wasn't especially comfortable, and there were a lot of flies, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. Overall, the food tasted good, but the value just isn't there for me. I don't mind paying premium prices when the portions, experience, or atmosphere justify it, but I left feeling like I paid far more than what I received.

I recently visited Zios Bagel Shop, which had just opened a week ago. As a new business, they still have some areas to improve upon. One aspect that disappointed me was the coffee options. They only had milk and half n half packets from a nearby gas station, and by the end of my visit, they had run out of half n half. The staff seemed unable to address this issue, and it's an area that definitely needs attention. Ordering was a bit confusing, as I had to be very specific with my instructions. For example, when I ordered the New Jersey, I had to explicitly mention that I wanted it on a bagel or roll. Otherwise, it would have been packed in a to-go box. The order took a long time, and unfortunately, everything was overcooked. However, considering it was only their first week, I understand they are still getting the hang of things. During busier times, the staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. One employee was constantly switching between helping in the kitchen and ringing up customers without washing their hands in between. It would be better if each person had a designated role and stuck to it. Regrettably, the quality of the food was average at best. My husband found hair in his dish, and the eggs were overfried and unimpressive. Despite my mixed experience, I am willing to give Zios Bagel Shop another try in a couple of months, hoping they would have ironed out the bumps and improved their overall service and food quality. read more

I drove out of my way after finding this place on Yelp! It was not very busy because the newness has worn off and it was during the week. The guy serving me was friendly and picked up on my NY accent, but this chatter might be the reason it went from 4 or 5 Stars to 3. While I appreciated the friendly banter it caused confusion of toasting or not and this had to be clarified 3 times! The iced coffee was decent: you make it yourself, so I give my self 5 Stars ;) The problem is I got the wrong bagel type and the Muffin tasted old and dry. Strictly judging the bagel and this being Florida... it would be slightly above average. I try bagels in nearly every city around the state and know. I was already many miles away when I discovered the error. I can't say I wouldn't try them again because of this, but mediocrity would prevent me from making a special trip from the highway. read more

If any Tampa friends are in the mood for real New York bagels , Zio's New York Bagel and Deli Co. is the place to go! The bagels are made fresh daily. My personal favorite menu item is the chicken salad sandwich on a non-toasted cheddar bagel with lettuce, tomato, and onions. I'm telling you, it's a life changing experience. You can thank me later. Also, the owner is a true New Yorker, how he started the deli is a great story, and a nice guy. I may have stopped in today for a couple chicken salad sandwiches for Bella and myself and ate mine on the way home. Yes, they are that good! Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the issue, the business chose to accuse a customer of being dishonest. That level of customer service is just as disappointing as the quality of the dessert. I would not recommend this place.
