My brother highly recommended Zippy's after his trip to Hawaii, so I was excited to finally experience a little piece of island life right here in Las Vegas. From my very first visit, I understood why so many people love this place. The customer service is second to none. Everyone always seems genuinely happy to be there, and they truly care about their customers. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the menu has something for everyone. The dessert selection alone is enough to keep you coming back. The fried chicken is my favorite, and every meal I've had has been fresh, hot, and delicious. Even the noodles surprised me. I stopped in on a day when I wasn't feeling my best, and they were exactly the comfort food I needed. What makes this location even more special is that it's right in my area. It's nice to have a place like this away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip and other busy parts of town. I was heartbroken to hear that this location may be closing. For many of us in the southwest valley, Zippy's has become more than just a restaurant. It's a gathering place that brings people together and gives us a taste of Hawaii without leaving Las Vegas. I love the food here. Service was simple and excellent, attentive when needed and it wasn't too busy tonight. The restaurant is always clean with a nice decor music is not too loud which I appreciate. Portion sizes are very good for the price. I do think that the price for a side of hoki fish is a bit expensive but considering where it's coming from I can understand that. During our short Vegas trip, my wife and I heard about this place, especially their dessert selection, so we had to check it out. The food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing, but we came mainly for their famous ube ensaymadas. The ube flavor was subtle but really good, paired with that soft fluffy bread and sweet frosting dusted with sugar powder. Not overly sweet, just the perfect late night dessert after a long day in Vegas. Definitely coming back next trip to try more of their desserts and finally dive into their food menu too. read more

Tried Zippy's for the first time today. They were fairly empty though seemed to be short-staffed as many tables hadn't been cleared off and no one was in a rush to clean them. It was a little gross having dirty dishes piled around us and made for a less than pleasant experience. We tried the chili with rice, which was tasty. We also tried the chicken trio - fried chicken, chicken katsu, and Korean chicken, served with rice and macaroni salad. My only complaint was that the katsu sauce was served very cold, not sure if that's how it always is, but I didn't enjoy it. Definitely would have tasted better on the chicken and rice if it was room temperature or warm. This week was actually my first time trying Zippy's, even though Vegas has already opened three locations (and a fourth location opening soon in North Las Vegas). I kept hearing about it and decided to see what the hype was all about! I've always heard they're known for their chili. It's usually my comfort food during fall and winter and I normally make my own at home but I randomly craved it while running errands in the area. I ordered their chili bowl with cornbread and also added a side of their grilled cornbread. Flavor-wise, it wasn't an OMG I need to keep coming back kind of experience but it was good. I ended up taking it to go and had it for dinner at home. While eating, I suddenly noticed I was chewing on something that didn't seem edible. I spit it out and realized it was a piece of plastic mixed in with the chili. I understand that things like this can happen in restaurant kitchens and I've heard/read stories about it before but this was the first time I've personally almost eaten a piece of plastic from restaurant food. That part was definitely disappointing and definitely threw me off. Customer service was good and I was asked to complete a survey when I was given my bill. If I had noticed the piece of plastic at the restaurant, I would have given a different rating. It's mayo and warm and with the Vegas heat, I'm surprised they haven't begun to separate the Mac salad on take out orders in case someone gets sick eating warm Mac salad. Zippy's is a great place for Hawaii comfort food not to confused with Hawaiian food. Yes there is a difference. I love Zippy's because they are fast and it brings me back to childhood. They always have specials for the month and change the desserts often with each month but they keep the classic always like Apple Naples and Dobash cake and mochi Zadas. Just to name a few. Aloha is spoken here service is friendly and fast always checking back on your table to see if you need anything else. If you've been to one zippy's, they're pretty much laid out the same simple set up and simple decor. Oh my gosh! I can't even tell you the last time I had Zippy's!! We were lucky enough to have a free night to run over to Zippy's for dinner. It's like a little bit of home. Too bad it was early in our trip or I would have brought back some pasteries for my mom. Since this location isn't near the tourist areas it really wasn't crowded at all. We got to sit pretty quick. Of course I had to go with my staple of saimin. So many noodles!! It almost had too much noodles compared to the broth ratio. Of course I had help finishing the noodles but in general I know no one would complain when getting a lot of noodles. My companion had the zip pac. He said the chili was so much better than the frozen Zippy's chili we get at Tokyo Central (we gotta do what we gotta do at home). He said the meal was filling and ono. Finally made it here. We were craving for oxtail soup so drove all the way here for it. Oxtail soup is like $28 --it's kinda pricey but the flavor was there. I would like more meat though and hotter soup not warm. The service is what made this 4stars --they were so nice and helpful since it was our first time there. Came here to try something new and since this location hasn't been open for a long time it's very nice and clean. Our server was very new and asking her questions wasn't helpful to us. We tried a few dishes and some sweets. My chili was good but I prefer mine a little sweeter so I ended up adding some sugar. The corn bread was fantastic. My side of fried chicken was a little dry but my ladies Korean fried chicken was very juicy and tender. The desserts we tried were ok but nothing special. It's been a long time since I've been to a Zippy's. It's my first time in one outside of Hawaii. It's very nice inside. It has the usual bakery in the front with some delicious sweets. They had eclairs, cream puffs, pies, and cakes. We were sat in a comfortable booth. We ordered the orange bang and passion fruit drink. They were both $5.10. Which i thought was a little high for an off strip restaurant. They give refills so that made it a little better. Orange bang was so nostalgic and the passion fruit drink was out of this world good. It was like a Hawaiian Sun Lychee Lillikoi. I had the Portuguese sausage and egg breakfast because it seemed like it was basically the only thing that I could eat with a wheat allergy. The egg breakfast or beverages. It was worth going. They cooked my egg just as I asked and the Portuguese sausage was fantastic. Two scoops of rice with the runny yolk was amazing. My hubby said his Saimin was great as was his piece of fried chicken that he ordered on the side. Our server Eva was so nice. We hope we get her every time we go. She let me know that there was an allergen guide that I could look at online. I looked at it after I got home. It was too small to read and takes too long at the restaurant but I found out that there are more choices. It said that I could have the beef curry, hamburger curry, salmon, garlic steak, oxtail soup. and a few more that I don't remember even being on the menu. I may or may not try something else. The Hawaiian background music was pleasant and at a comfortable listening volume. Our server was friendly and service was prompt. My wife ordered the cheeseburger with French fries. We were thinking maybe she's waiting for the order to be completed before bringing it to us but that wasn't the case. She served us the condiments and sauces and umm said "here's the sauce for the poke." Came here after church with the family. This is the 2nd location that opened up here in Las Vegas. Inside it felt just like the first location but wasn't too busy. Customer service was excellent. At one point we had 3 different employees helping us. They didn't tell us to leave or anything when we stayed at least 1 hr after finish eating and just talking story with each other. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and exactly what I was craving. The chili was rich, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the mac salad was classic and well balanced. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and absolutely worth the add-on. They were out of a few items during my visit, but the staff was friendly and communicative about it, which I really appreciated. We wanted to really give zippy another try after we tried the 1st location when they opened here in Vegas so we went to this one for a quick lunch and I don't know we should have read the reviews for this location because I think this will probably be the last time we are dining in at zippys. First off when we walked in it wasn't even busy few tables we got seated but server "Trisha" took about 8 mins to acknowledge us. She gave us our water but left one straw so asked for another one she never came so my husband had to go to the counter to get it. She got our order in but never asked how my husband wanted his chili so we had to let them know again at the counter to make sure there aren't any beans. Food came out close to 15 mins which was a little long of a wait for the size we ordered and yes the food is good don't get me wrong, saimin was flavorful and pretty good portion husband got the wrecking food plate which also was very good. Not once after our food came out the server "Trisha" asked how's everything, we even had to asked her for a spoon and again she never came back so husband had to get it from the counter again!!! Like how do you charge me more to dine in when service is terrible. She never came to our table when we asked for things but came not even in barely middle of us eating and put our bill on our table says no rush which seems kinda disrespectful because we literally just started eating but she said she is literally all over the place which is so ridiculous because she probably had 4-5 tables . I never ever left a restaurant without at least tipping 15% even for so and so service,but you can't charge people more to dine in, get crappy service and on the bill suggested tip is 18%-22%. Only reason I left some tip is because the kid who brought us our food and I asked him twice for two condiments and he came out right away and brought it. We will never most likely dine in here at all and If ever we crave zippys again it will be to go. So very disappointed with the service we got because again the restaurant wasn't busy at all and the server we had seemed like she could t handle it already because even the bigger table she had had to flag her down for they're bill like really if you can't handle busy I don't know why you work as a server because you lacked on serving your tables which it should have been your priority but we felt like you prioritized the bigger table for a bigger tip but even then was frustrated because they also was left waiting. This is the standard Zippys so they have all the items you would want to see across a Zippy Diner. The location here is so peaceful and spacious that makes it an absolute joy. I knew it would be different than if we were actually at the islands of Hawaii. This is the second location in Las Vegas. It is close to our home. And enter our Wedding Anniversary, this past tuesday. The takeout menu (sign- will point to the Left) is different than the table service menu (sign will point to the Right). You can only get the breakfast bento for takeout. (At the Oahu location, we would get the omelette sandwiches for breakfast, mmm.) Also, on the menu, it is a bit confusing, as the wording is misleading. All combos come with extras, but if it is not a breakfast combo, it doesn't include those items. We ended up getting two sides for our breakfast. I wanted to try the corned beef hash so I got that with a scoop of fried rice (slices of bacon and portuguese sausage). Hubby had portuguese sausage and two scoops of fried rice. Everything was good. There were very few diners; hubby asked if it was open when we were parking. Parking is a little tight. Shares the lot with the shopping center. There were some customers for takeout. Our server changed. Very good service. The first server seemed newer as compared to our second server. She seemed to know more about the menu and the other restaurant location. Location is clean. Looks smaller than the original location off of Badura and Rainbow (215).
