The family and I came here for lunch! It seems like we have been hitting up all the Zippy locations here. Lol! I must say that the food seems consistent at all the locations I have been to. I had a good experience at this location as well. This time I ordered a mini of the fried noodles. I got it with fried chicken. The Filipino that I am, I was wanting ketchup with my chicken but I didn't ask for ketchup. I also ordered the complete meal which came with salad and bread. I had ranch to go with my salad. Everything was so good. The banana cream pie was amazingly delicious. It had a chocolate crust on the bottom. Descent potions. The mini is enough food for me. Service was excellent by our waitress. Finally reopened after the remodel. Dining room is now nice and bright! It used to be so dark in there. Diner Booths are kept spaced apart with every other booth not used to seat anyone. Temp checks and contact tracing being accomplished. I didn't see any sanitizer but I may have missed it... Restrooms are clean and updated!! They still have hand towels. I really don't like those air blower hand dryers. So glad they are open back up again! read more

Food typical of Zippy's. Not fine dining but fast and inexpensive. Sit down restaurant side is newly renovated. Seating is nice. Lots of plexiglass between booths. Feels Ike a fishbowl sitting. Especially when you have people sitting next to you in the center section with a four foot panel of plexiglass between you. AC is a little warm in the restaurant. Oddly the take out side is cooler so something to consider when eating here. Restaurant side always seems understaffed. Lucky if there's more than two people working. I guess due to c-ovid they lost a lot of the old time workers. Service is nice though. They try their best to make it work even though each one is handling at least ten tables. 24 hour Zippy's woo hoo! Located right off a major road, Nimitz Highway. Conveniently sandwiched between the airport/Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and Waikiki. Yes, I'm looking at you, military and tourists! For my friends back home in San Diego who are reading this, Zippy's is like L&L's, only better. Wider menu selection, chili, saimin, and spam musubis are all delicious. Zippy's is spread out all over Oahu and possibly the most popular local fast food chain. I'm happy for locals who have moved to the 9th Hawaiian Island, Las Vegas as they'll have their own Zippy's beginning some time in 2019! Besides this Zippy's, the closest location from Pearl Harbor is the Zippy's in Pearlridge Mall, and attached to Sears, facing Kamehameha Highway. The Nimitz Zippy's looks more inviting, and if you're at Pearlridge Mall late at night, you might as well drive a few yards further and have Anna Miller's! Zippy's is one of those few places I would take visiting family and friends to if they only have less than a week on island. Nimitz Zippys is often overlooked but I enjoy stopping here as it's on our way into town and it's close to my office. I normally will eat in restaurant for breakfast and it's very convenient. Generally lots of parking and the seating wait is normally less than 5 minutes if that. Food: Standard Zippys menu and consistent with every other location. Food is done well, portions are decent, and a wide range that will suit most diners. Since I normally have breakfast/brunch at this location I normally go with the breakfast combo or Zippys omelet. Nothing fancy but good solid food. Service: Great staff at this location, many of them very long time employees. Friendly, fast and efficient. I love that my coffee cup never stays empty for long! Atmosphere: A little on the older side but clean and comfortable dining room. Decently large parking lot, take out and fast food seating area to one side, sit down table service on the other side of restaurant. Value: Some do consider Zippys to be priced a bit on the higher side for what we consider local fare but I think it's good value for the quality and consistency you receive. Overall: One of my go to locations when we cant decide on a brunch spot when we are headed into Honolulu. Nothing fancy but good solid food you can count on. read more

I have visited Hawaii many times and never stopped by Zippy's until this time last year. I'm not a big chili person, so even though everyone raved about Zippy's it never interested me. However, it was my mom, aunty and sisters first time back in Hawaii in a long time and so we did the staples, and to many locals, we've heard that Zippy's is one. I gave the chili a shot and, it's me, I don't know what ppl like about chili. The fried chicken was good though. Super crunchy, which I like! My family loved the food. We couldn't finish what we had ordered so we took it to go and it was even better the next day! The night we came in, they only had booths and uhm, we do NOT, I repeat, we do NOT, our muscle mass does NOT allow us room to fit in a booth hahahahhaha, so they had to put two tables together for us which I appreciated. Zippy's, Hawaii's 'Denny's', never disappoints; we were at this exact location in '13 and we are now back in '19 for some homely breakfast before heading back to the mainland. Zippy's at Nimitz is such a convenient location going to and from Waikiki if visiting the the airport, Peal City, North Shore, etc. My wife just loves their Oxtail soup, yummy and delicious. I had their Onion Rib Steak, minus the corn and add Mac salad with 2 sunny sides on top; now that's a proper breakfast combination! It was delicious and surprisingly, the steak was tender. As always, wifey had her Oxtail soup, and the kids had Mac & Cheese and Pancakes between them. My nephew had a Strawberry Waffles and that was delicious too. If I could give this location a zero, i would. We decided that we would go grab food after our movie on a Saturday night, and we arrived at 10 pm. We waited for 15 minutes, and all the while, 2 servers saw that there were 4 parties waiting to be seated.Not being able to reserve seating online because it was down, the 1 server tells us that the restaurant is full and they could not serve anyone. We came here to pick up desserts during October for Ube Month! We tried the ube tart and ube napple! The ube flavor wasn't super strong and the tart crust was a little soggy. However, we also got the rainbow cake which was so good! It has a green, yellow, and pink layer. It's like an Asian Denny's. Not sure why this place gets slammed with bad reviews. Perhaps it's because I haven't lived in Hawaii that long so I'm grateful to have access to good food everywhere. Zippy does the job... if I'm with picky people, there's a variety of options for them to choose from. The oxtail soup was surprisingly good... wish it was bigger for $19.95 but it had great flavor. Please be cautious. The servers used the same gloves to serving food, cleaning the tables, taking people's payments, and touching their face and apron. It doesn't make sense to wear gloves if you are doing all of that. That's cross contamination and we are also in a pandemic so that doesn't help with the COVID-19 situation. In my opinion, the servers shouldn't use gloves anymore because I feel more comfortable with their bare hands because they would have the chance to keep washing their hands. Does one really know Hawaii without having first visiting a Zippy's? It's the local version of a Denny's and you can get classic American dishes along with island favorites. I mean, for breakfast, you get the spam and Portuguese sausage options in addition to bacon and link sausage. You can also get fried rice instead of hash browns. And breakfast is served all day. There is a huge selection of representative dishes here that reflect the mix of cultures in Hawaii. It's like visiting a cultural culinary museum. And you get extra calories at the end of the visit. The food is not bad; it's at par with any Denny's or Norm's or Shoneys I've ever visited. Oh, I forget. It's got an attached Napoleon Bakery that sells pies AND donuts. So it's all the restaurants mentioned above mixed with a Marie Callender's plus a Dunkin'. It's never going to get a Michelin star, but it's fun to visit. read more

I was hesitant because it looked like a fast food chain restaurant but a friend said how good it was and to give it a shot. The food was beyond what expectations I had. It was spectacular. My husband had a cup of seafood chowder to start that had chunks of seafood. Very tasty. His entree was a simple hamburger steak and got a delicious hamburger that had brown crunchy bits on the edges, cooked to perfection and smothered in brown gravy with sautéed onions. I had Asian Sea Bass with rice and Choy Sum (a great veggie similar to Bok Choy). It came in a delicate Shoyu Ginger sauce that I would drink, it was so good. The fish was white meaty and cooked perfection and so soft & flaky. Yum. I could only eat half my fish and 1/3 of the rice. Can't wait for leftovers! Our server was great-quick, friendly and always there for refills on water and to check on us. I know we go a bit early for dinner but was surprised at the review re: the staff. Next Stop. After having visited this location multiple times over the past 9 days, I thought perhaps a short review was needed: 1. Yes, I made three visits to this location over the past 9 days. I have my brother to thank (more or less), as he wanted Zippy's to be his next stop. If one does the math correctly, that equates to one visit or stop every 3 days. 2. Yes, there is parking. Thankfully, they have their own lot which isn't shared with any neighboring businesses. 3. Yes, like most Zippy's locations, there is a dine-in section (where you are served) and a dine-out area (where you order take out and/or food and not served). There is also a Napoleon's bakery as well. We chose to do take out during our visits. 4. Yes, the menu has all your favorites! Our last visit was on Christmas Day, and though they were quite busy, we waited patiently for our food. The staff did their best job to fulfill all the walk-in orders and take out orders in a timely manner. In the end, we walked out with a mini beef curry (special for the day), saimin, large chili with rice, and mini chili and chicken mixed plate. BOTTOM LINE: Be it Christmas Day or not, Zippy's is a decent and convenient choice for a meal or late night cravings. Next Stop! read more

Employees are not following Covid procedures. Not having people wait outside until the restaurant texts. They are having customers crowd the lobby and seating the crowd in the lobby while people on the waiting list are ignored outside the building. I waited 20 minutes while this man was ignoring covid procedures. We were on the way to Aulani and a friend recommended Zippy's to take togo if you ever needed something for quick lunch. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers. We ordered the local favorites platter (fish, katsu, sausages), the loco moco plate and fried noodles. Bill came out to about $50 which I thought was a bit pricey for a fast food place but food was pretty good. The kids loved the noodles. The loco moco was good. I've never liked the ones you order in southern California but the one is Hawaii was good. The platter was good....a good combination of meats but nothing too special. I have been to this Zippys on Nimitz and Pacific, not far from the airport a gazillion times. Most of the the visits have been after picking up rellies at the airport. I would ask them if they are hungry, and if they don't know what they want to eat Zippys always worked: I never heard any gripes afterwards. However, the most frequent reason I have been to this location is after a late night in town. This Zippys is 10 miles from Waikiki and was on the way home to Pearl City where I used to live. On my most recent visit after a late night in town, I ordered the regular size Hawaiian stew ($10.95), a side of mac salad ($2.65), and a large Orange Bang ($3.25). The stew came with two scoops rice and canned corn on the side. The stew was excellent. It was a large sized portion and was chocked full of good stuff: 5 Stars. It was a good way to end the night. The mac salad was very good. It was nice and creamy. However, the price was kinda high: 3.5 Stars. The ambiance is typical of a large Zippys. There is a sit down side, a casual side, and a Napoleons Bakery: 3 Stars. The service was below par. We went to the sit down side and we told our waitress there were 5 of us. She tried to put us in a booth for four. When we moved to a larger booth, she didn't bring the other menus. Mina our waitress only brings four waters and four place settings. Mina is FOB Flip so we joked, "I said pibe not pour!": 2.5 Stars - LOL! Despite the ratings on the latter area, you can't go wrong w/ most Zippys on the islands. The Nimitz location is the one to stop by and get your Zip Pac, Surf Pac or limited edition Kokua Pak ($8.08 and 50 cents goes to the Blood Bank), unless you "like" eat airline food. Stopped by this location since this was the closest Zippy's & my mom wanted something warm. Her favorite...saimin but hold the green onions. The waitress was really friendly and showed us the new menus and new weekly special, but the special were only at the Nimitz location.
