Got into town late and was a little bit hungry, friend told me we were going to stop at Zips, which has been in the area for 53 years! Zips is a diner/fast food joint with a drive up window, I liked it . And they have plenty to offer on the menu. After checking out the menu I went with a cheeseburger, side of fried mushrooms and a root beer, I know livin large with the soda and all! I have to say the burger was great, everything was fresh and great tasting, but the fried mushrooms, man they were freaking great! They were fresh mushrooms dipped in batter and fried to sweet heaven, before I knew it they were gone. Glad to have had the chance to stop at Zips and give the local place a try! read more

Zips is the iconic symbol of fast food for any college student at Eastern during their college career. There is something about Cheney Zips that is better than any other Spokane Zips, and it's something you don't understand until you've been here. The great part about Zips is that it's open 24 hours. So whether you want breakfast (which is delicious), lunch, dinner, or food to satisfy your drunken munchies between 2am and 4am (seriously, starting at 2am when all the bars close, it gets packed), Zips is always there. For the most part, the staff is nice and the service is fast. It's only once in a while where you'll either have disappointing service or food. But for as many times as I have been there that hasn't happened much. I think that Zips is my favorite local fast food restaurant. I don't typically eat fast food, but if I do its Zips. The majority of their burgers are between $4 and $6, but are delicious. I always order the Superdeluxe with cheese and onions - best deal on the menu for less than $3! You also can't pass up the Zips fry sauce for your fries, or sometimes even your burger. Their hurricanes are very comparable to Dairy Queen Blizzards, but hurricanes are better in my opinion. You want a nice Hurricane because your craving ice cream and everything on EWU campus is closed? Go to Zips. Are you hungry for some Chicken Fried Steak at 0400 when they start serving breakfast? You know where the hell to go fool! As a broke collee student attending Eastern, this was my staple aside from dorm-cooked meals here and there and going on Campus to eat (At reasonable hours), but maaan! Zips is the real MVP when you want to satisfy your needs at an ungodly hour. I would also like to add that their breakfast at 0400 is DA BOMB. I mean when you're pulling an all nighter on a weekend whether it be gaming or studying (or in my case, both) and you've run out of energy from the last meal you ate hours ago, this is the place to do it. Customer service is great (Although night shift can vary- remember, this is a shitty shift and the pay isn't great either, so cut them some slack) and the time to service is quite remarkable. Quality of the food, especially the CFS, is better than the competition (Like Denny's or Shari's), and my god, their ice cream is "To die for". This place can be kind of expensive if you want to try a lot of different food... But you really just wanna pig out on a bunch burgers, it's perfect. If you order ahead of time and use the code ZIPS you get 15% off your order. I tend to order a bag of cheeseburgers (5) for 8 bucks, or a bag of double cheeseburgers (5) for 12 bucks. Whenever you order a bag of anything you can add a large drink container of fries for 2 bucks and/or 2 medium drinks for 2 bucks. This is much cheaper than ordering burger by burger, item by item. Their papa joes (which come in a bag of 5 for 10 bucks) are also pretty tasty, they're single patty cheese burgers with a slice of ham, pickles and lettuce; their regular single and double burgers don't with lettuce so sometimes this is a nice change. UPDATE: Ate here for breakfast today . . . It was pretty good. I found that for the price I paid . . . $11 and change, it was definitely worth it. I got a BIG omelet . . . That came with a big side of hash browns as well as a side of toast. The omelet was really good and so were the hash browns and toast. I love their strawberry jelly. Veryyyy good. Their hash browns were super good too. Zip's is a great little place. The restaurant has a unique character (in a good way), and the food is different from your typical fast food. My favorite things: The "tubs" of fried mushrooms are plentiful and a great deal at $5. Hurricane or shake of the week for only $1, and this is a good sized dessert. Unbelievably slow drive-thru service. Expect to wait up to 10 minutes when at the speaker to have someone take your order. Then another long wait to pay and get your food. Last time there I was in line with six other cars, the same car was parked at the pickup window for 15 minutes and it was obvious nothing was happening. At that point, simultaneously, three of us just bailed and drove away - no lunch that day. This is not a one-off experience, it is always slow, even when there is no line at all. We ate here for breakfast after waiting 23 minutes at Willow with not even coffee. A few people in our party had the special, wihch was biscuits and gravy. The gravy was a bit starchy and not all that flavorful, just salty... but it was edible and a great value at $3.95, 4 biscuit halves and at least a cup of gravy. Would've been better with some over easy eggs on top! I also had the hashbrown and juice. The juice is plastic bottled. The combo of hashbrown and juice was $2 and seemed like a good deal to add to the special. I don't remember what anyone else had but we were all happy with our food and someone even subbed in fries with tartar to their meal. Zip's was a quiet place to catch up and have an informal breakfast. The whole bill was something like $23, after my dad redeemed a senior discount that he didn't have to ask for. I love reading these reviews! I feel the same way, I occasionally eat at zips for the convenience (near my office)and nearly every time I leave I'm disappointed. The prices are a bit higher then most places which I wouldn't mind if the value was there. When I reach out to receive my bag of food through the drive through I would like to feel a little weight in the bag. I figure for 7 bucks there should be a little substance, so the real disappointment starts there because I know I'll be hungry in no time at all. I wish i could give negative stars, but this was hands down the worst experience I've ever had. As were ordering and there was a driver behind us honking aggressively as us to hurry with our order. When we got to the window the woman informed us it was her boss honking at us. She had a male figure exit the car "just in case"as she sat there on the phone threating to call the police. This kind of behavior from a manager is completely unacceptable and we will NEVER be returning. I love Zip's!!!!! The only time I ever ate here I was hung over and boy did i feel better after eating here. I had the Papa Jo burger ($3.29) which comes with one beef patty, American cheese, slice of ham, amyo and lettuce. I also got an order of the crinkle fries. All I have to say is YUM YUM!!! Great price and well portioned meals make Zips a go to for fast food in Spokane Washington and surrounding areas, I would have given them five stars but the Zips in Cheney Washington keeps forgetting the delicious ranch and jalapeño ranch dipping sauce in my drive through orders. Literally the only zips I will eat at, every other zips seems to fall short of the glory that this Cheney one has. Their hurricanes and actually mixed and taste splendid. For example, at other zips if you order a Oreo hurricane you are going to get a large cup filled with vanilla Ice cream and an Oreo cookie.
