It's been quite a long time since I've wanted to review this place. I haven't been here in a while but if I'm in Toledo I'm most definitely going there. Funny backstory how I found this place. I went to Chick-fil-A and then learned that they cook in peanut oil. Decided I didn't want to die that day so my friend and I saw zoup so we decided on there. I have been there a few times and I would always get the lobster bisque mixed half and half in with another soup and my golly gee wilickers batman. It's literally a orgasm in your mouth. Their sandwiches were always good but just like their soup more. I hope to come back soon and see what things they have changed. The only thing is that it's a bit pricy. Not sure if that's changed as most things have gone up. But price isn't always a bad thing. If it's great you'll pay for it. read more

IT IS HOTTER THAN THE SOUP THEY SELL!! It's honestly sad too because the employees are sooooo nice and the food is ALWAYS fantastic but sitting inside feels like I'm doing hot yoga. It's hot. It's muggy. And it smells weird. Absolutely hard to breathe and hard to even want to eat inside. You could cook an egg right there on the table. I could roast marshmallows just walking in. It's so hot I felt like a frog the moment I walked in. I feel like I just walked through Egypt. Cant even think straight to type any of this out. NOT COOL AT ALL. I can atleast go home and eat. Which blows because I used to love sitting in there, NOT ANYMORE. The employees are really feeling it. Ovens running, soup boiling and running around in 90 degree temps. You can tell they're hot and miserable. It's borderline inhumane what the owners are putting their employees through during this very hot season. So sad that the owners are letting this restaurant go down hill. Swear this restaurant gets left in the dust. Something is always broken and it takes weeks if not months for any of it to get fixed. read more

My husband and I are sick so we thought it was appropriate to pick up some soup on the way home. I waiting for 10 minutes.... No one spoke to me. The 2 ladies behind the counter didn't even acknowledge me. They both looked at me with an ugly look when I first walked in but I had no idea what they were going to REFUSE TO SURVE ME! I asked politely to place my order just for no one to answer. After 10 minutes of just standing there I left. I will not be returning unless management hires new employees. The service was absolutely all over the place. There were people behind us that got their food before we did, and the person in front of us had been there over 20 minutes waiting, watching two orders go out before his as well! (Yes they were all walk in orders) 3 employees should not be working on the same oder getting confused, especially when there are several more orders to get through before those one The employees were nice But also the lobby was out of a lot of fountain pops and the ice machine had nothing in it Definitely would recommend going to the Maumee location over this one! read more

Background: Business traveler, early 30's, solo. What an awesome concept - there are so many times I'm on the road and have had a big lunch, and just want a great soup / salad combo for supper. This place absolutely hits the mark. The employees gave me plenty of free soup samples to try, were clear in explaining the menu, and checked on me twice to make sure I was happy. Because we live so far away from a Chick-fil-a, it's always a treat to retreat to the Toledo area for some good chicken. Today, as we realized a wee bit too late, is Sunday. Chick-fil-a is closed on Sunday's. Enter: Zoup! They have a decent layout and the semi-Subway, semi-Panera ordering feels familiar, and the people are very nice. My wife and I (despite the restaurant's name) opted for a sandwich. We both picked the Chicken Toscana, which is a little pricey, a little messy, but one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had-- which is funny if you think about it, because that's why I was in the area. We ordered a turkey/cheddar sandwich (which was par) for our little tyke, but the potato cheddar tasted a lot like the cheddar that they used to put on the potatoes at Wendy's -- a little too nacho cheese-ish and frankly - one of the grossest soups I've ever had the displeasure of coming across. Surprising for a place that is marketing soups, it was the weakest player of the whole troupe. I might return, but only if I forget that it's Sunday -- also, I need to taste test some more soups before ordering in the future. You should, too. read more

Perfect choices for a cool day. My friend and I were looking for a light lunch and had heard Zoup was good. Very surprised it was sooo good! We ended up leaving full and spent less than $10 each for everything. Lobster bisque was tasty and filling as was the chicken sandwich. My friend had a salad (she let me try some, delicious) and the chicken pot pie. From now on when I crave CPP, I will go to Zoup. Having read some issues with service from previous reviews we were a bit apprehensive, but the service was fast, efficient and friendly. I understand they had a change of ownership recently and I can assure you this staff has it together! read more

went twice when i was under the weather. chicken dumpling soup - instead of chicken noodle - hit the spot for both times. i tasted a bunch out of 12 recipes they were serving one day and they were all great. having 100+ recipes and rotating sounded impressive. genuinely good soup. i'll be going back periodically. read more

I got a 16 oz of the white chicken chili, and it was delicious! Prices are a bit high for soup- $8 just seemed too much for just a plain bowl. But you are able to try as many samples of soup as you'd like prior to ordering, which was a plus! read more

My wife brought this home for dinner I always thought Subway was the worst restaurant around but I was wrong this place is horrible. The chicken soup had no seasoning in it it was literally water and season a chicken and noodles. I love zoup! My favorites are the chicken pot pie soup & the corn crab chowder. The soup selection is different everyday which can be a double edge sword. Very rarely do I run into an issue of not liking the selection. I recommend looking at their daily menu online it updates everyday. Staff is very friendly and are alway super nice about giving soup samples. I would recommend also always very clean inside! read more

Very rude franchise owner. I asked if the crab bisque was tomato based and she was rude after that. Yelled at me for being on my phone telling my husband what soups were left for the day and then when the bag was ripped she practically yelled at her new employee when she asked if I wanted a new bag and I said yes. Then she yelled when I asked if the soups were in the bag. I said you don't need to be snippy and she went off saying have you ever left here without your food and then said do you have something more you want to say? Well, yes but not to her. Bad business attitude. I was checking my phone because my aunt is in hospice and I was getting an update. Totally uncalled for and unprofessional attitude for an owner and manager. We went here for very first time. The person behind the counter was friendly and offered samples as soon as we walked up. Made good recommendations, white chicken chili & lobster bisque. The building is a little tucked away in a plaza, or else I think this place would be plenty busier. These are the type of folks that care about the food that they're serving, and you can tell. Ok so first off I would like to point out I am in fact non-partisan. Now anyway I have a serious issue. Personally I think all soup is too wet but Zoup manages to be even wetter. I like my food to be an Amazon rainforest at the wettest, but Zoup is full on Atlantic Ocean. Now I know what most people are gonna say, isn't soup supposed to be wet? Like if it wasn't, wouldn't it make that a stew or a chili? But I think of it more like a solids to liquid ratio, If there's too much broth and not enough substance than that's too wet for my tastes. Not even necessarily solids to liquids ratio though if I'm being honest, cuz I can get down with some good tomato soup, and that's why I think it's not just about liquid though at the same time, tomato soup isn't as liquidy as something like miso though, which is basically all liquid. Idk customer service was great and they really didn't mind giving me some samples, but I'm suspicious of why corporate seems to be making soups more liquid over the years. There's gotta be a reason for it, I'm just not sure why yet. I'll keep researching for the benefit of society though. read more

I juice for 30 days every 4 months. So after doing nothing but drinking my meals for a whole month I have to eat food that is not heavy or over filling. The Sonoma salad is off the hook. I love it so much I order 2 to take home. It is so fresh and the the soups are wonderful. Full of flavor. I cook from scratch all the time and the soups here taste just like homemade. Plus environment is very clean with a staff that is very nice. I tell everyone to go try it knowing that one visit will turn into a hundred. Best soup and freshest salads in Toledo. Soup is great, except this location is poorly managed and seemingly understaffed. Staff is all over the place, confused, and does not follow directions listed on online orders. This location is close to our company and we have preferred it due to this, however, we will at this point drive to Maumee as that location is amazing. This is my absolute favorite place to eat when I finish work or am on a lunch break. I go in all the time so many of them know me by appearance now, which is always a nice thing when people care enough to recognize you. They never have the same things two days in a row so I can change it up and try something new every time I go. Their sandwiches are amazing, but I love the turkey club most of all. Absolutely the worst service I think I have ever experienced. I went in and ordered lunch with a co-worker, after a 20 minute wait for our food we questioned were our to go orders were. The owner, Kay, stated that they were short staffed and it was cold. My co-worker stated that she understood but many people had come in after us had already received their food. When one of the employees tried to help us, she yelled at her because evidently they can not go out of order. At that point my co-worker and I requested our money back. At that time the owner stated "Fine!" and told the employee to give us back our money. While doing that she then stated that "People who don't know what it's like to make food need to get over themselves." She further went on to state that "Idiots like you are to dumb to live." When my we asked for the corporate number she stated "Oh, you want the corporate number?!" and when we stated "Yes." the owner stated "Well look it up yourself!". I do want to say that the rest of the employees were trying to work as quickly as possible dispite the fact that their boss was constantly yelling at them and contradicting their work. I went to the Zoup on Talmadge in Toledo Ohio. I ordered three bowls of chicken fajita soup no cheese because I'm very lactose intolerant and tortillas strips on the side like I always do. I waited a long time for my order to be ready. When it was ready I heard the manager whispering to the other employee that she had accidentally put cheese in my soup and that I'll have to deal with it. The employee went to give me my soup and I asked if the manager put cheese in it. She said "I wrote no cheese down but the manager put no cheese in it. Sorry that is the last of our chicken fajita soup." Not only did the manager try to sneak he fact that she put cheese in the soup but when I was angry that she messed up my order the manager did nothing to fix it. She didn't apologize, I didn't get a refund, and I didn't get anything special as an apology. I paid $23.55 for soup that I can't even eat without getting sick! I was a regular customer but I will NEVER return here again! read more

I've been going to Panera Bread a lot and I was starting to get tired of eating the same things over and over again because there are only two vegan soups and one vegan sandwich on the menu. Somehow I thought going to Zoup would be better, even though I know no one even goes there already. When I asked about the vegan options there was ONE soup and ONE sandwich. I got the vegetable bean soup and the Quinoa wrap. The soup was okay, tasted like it may as well have come from a can. And the wrap? Absolutely disgusting. I was tempted to ask the cashier to taste it and tell me what she thought of it, because no one who has tasted this garbage would ever put it on a plate for ~$6.00. The 'quinoa' was dried out, freezer-burned rice with just a teeny amount of actual quinoa in it, full of wilted greens that tasted like grass. The whole thing was cold and flavourless, and the vegetables had clearly been sitting out for way too long. The wrap had some kind of vinegar dressing which was just vinegar. Most disgusting thing I've ever eaten at a restaurant. I'm surprised Zoup is still a business with this amateur food they make. Not interested in ever returning again. BYE! read more
