We had the turkey sandwiches, a beef sandwich, and a Tuma (Tula?) vegetarian panini. They came with kettle chips. The Tula was excellent. The other sandwiches were mediocre. Like most food we had during our week in Alaska, it was all very expensive, with the Tula at $15 and the others around $18. But quite acceptable overall. read more

I placed an order for Americano and mocha coffee. Ordered a blt. The coffee was delivered first. Then we waited and waited for sandwich. Unfortunately it came with chipotle mayo which was way too spicy. Even my husband who likes spicy complained that his mouth was irritated. My lips burned. We complained and was offered another sandwich with plain mayo but ran out of time and couldn't wait. Nothing on their menu board mentioned the spicy mayo. So be warned! Zudy's hit a home run for my event! We chose them to do catering for an event for deploying military families and the food, service, and price/value were outstanding! The owner Judy was extremely easy to work with and explained everything she could provide and couldn't provide from the start. Very clear on pricing too, no hidden fees, or surprise charges. There was one big issue that was a bit difficult to overcome....trying to narrow down the menu from her many wonderful sandwiches and other goodies! So we solved it by ordering both breakfast and lunch! We had some special dietary needs for a few families attending our event and she handled it no problem. Her Vegan friendly options were a big hit too! I'll start with those, she was able to adapt one of her more popular vegetarian sandwiches and subbed cheese for a roasted sweet potato. Funny side note, when I saw the sandwiches I thought there was a mistake and they accidentally put mayo...but of course it was veganaise! She provided great vegan options for breakfast too. They did steel cut oats with fruit, nuts, granola, on the side with almond, soy, and oat milk options. Bagels. Breakfast potatoes. Fruit tray. For everybody else we also had an amazing tomato basil quiche, her famous Duffins, and this ridiculously delish Hawaiian kona coffee banana and chocolate chip bread. So "ono"-liscious! Breakfast was a huge hit! Lunch was just as excellent though too. We did a few sandwich options and chose some of her most popular ones off the menu and I think we got a custom one too. I can't get past the XtraTuff sandwich...my fave since the first time I tried Zudy's! But they all looked amazing including the vegan one which I wanted to try too, but I was too full! That's because she made us a Farmers Market salad and her Pesto Pea Pasta salad to go with the sandos. She had me at pesto! As amazing as all of the food was, the desserts stole the show. At lunch she made raspberry crumble bars and my fave...her brownies. I've eaten a lot of brownies in my day and this was without a doubt one of the best I've ever had. And no kidding, I thought I saw one of the guests choking, but this grown man was having a food-gasm after tasting the brownie! At least three times I heard, "Oh My God" when someone was eating a brownie! So not only was I complimented many times for the food being so good at the event, but she provided huge portions and nobody was left hungry. Excellent cheesecake! We purchased a couple of slices and then took them to the nearby waterfront to enjoy while watching the beautiful views. We tried the lemon one and the oreo one. They were rich and delicious! Highly recommended for dessert. There is also a charger outside near the picnic table where you can charge your cellphone. read more

This place does everything well, but for the first time in the menu can be overwhelming. It is a walk in/order at counter affair. They make great mochas and chocolate chip cookies. The staff made a couple of suggestions for paninis and sandwiches. I took them up on their suggestion and I loved it! We followed up with cheesecake which is in the fridge. Great food experience at Zudy's. Ordered two sandwiches and the soup of the day, had to try the veggie curry, and it was all amazingly fresh and flavorful food. Bread was soft and toppings, like sprouts, tomatoes and such, were crisp and delicious. Soup was yummy, not too spicy but just spicy enough. I can't wait til we get back next year to make the 2.5 hour drive for sandwiches and soup! Staff was friendly and the place was warm and inviting to sit and enjoy our meals in the rain. Nice lunch spot with a great view and an interesting collection of artwork inside. We loved the octopus made of nails! The menu of sandwiches and paninis did not show prices anywhere. We tried paninis (about $15 each) and liked them. Each came with a bag of chips, a pickle spear and some fresh blueberries, which was a nice touch. We saw others eating soup and salad but didn't see that on the menu anywhere. There was a stand with cake and cheesecake and an array of coffee drinks. read more

Really great food, service & atmosphere. The wedding cake, cheesecakes & key lime pie are a must-try. Espresso was good. What I appreciated about the panini was that the chicken tasted like it was poached in flavorful herbs- moist & delicious. It needed a few more minutes in the panini press so the ingredients melded together- it had barely-there grill marks- but dang, it tasted so good I didn't really mind. The owner is warm, caring (& we are not locals), and it just feels good to hang out & eat comforting food there. Alaska needs more places like Zudy's! read more

I went here twice today. Starting there sets the bar for this review. Visit one was lunch, as a table we had the bagel with brie, bacon and onions. This was creamy and delicious. I would recommend asking for crispy bacon for some texture, the combination of flavors is a winner. Next up was the tuna sandwich. Massive portion of tuna on delicious bread. The tuna was great, well seasoned and again a solid portion. Finally we had the turkey Panini. Again, big portion, great turkey and bacon, and hits the mark for what you would want from a Panini. The sandwiches we're all good sized, if you don't plan to do two visits in a day like I did, I'd recommend splitting one. Why the second visit, the cheesecake. I was told it was the best ever, and was skeptical. We ordered two slices for the table, both amazing, and both arguably better then the other, but not much better out there then these. The chocolate espresso was well balanced, creamy and delicious. The almond Joy is what it sounds like, a coconut, chocolate, cheesecake joy to eat. I may be back tomorrow... read more

This is one amazing place. Found this cafe right across the street from Hotel Seward, where we stayed. Beautiful view with great food! Can't go wrong there! Had Zudy's Cafe cater for my sister's elopement ceremony. Let me tell you, it was amazing and the experience is nothing similar to what I've been thru and I'm a big foodie I may add. I just read the non recommended review by Kristin and my experience was about the same in July. One slice of meat on a roll with some veggies, and yes, no condiments readily available. I understand the rolls come from a bakery in anchorage, but they're still not that good. Anyhow the sandwich and panini were pretty bland. I might try the desserts next time, they looked good. Nice view of the harbor once you look past the parking lot, but hey, it's the waterfront. read more

Absolutely fantastic!!! This was a suggestion from a nice girl that works at Safeway down the street. ( thanks Susie) . Miss Judy will amaze you with her baked good's, savory oat medal. Please do yourself a favor, go to Zudy's for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner.... You will thank me later. The building is absolutely gorgeous. The perfect location to stop and power up your senses. You will be able to capture the views while eating something as magnificent as one of their wonderful deserts! The staff is absolutely friendly and the owner lady is a gem! I see a spark In her eyes, the spark of " I love what I do, I love to feed people", and so well she does it!!! The food was fantastic, my counterpart had a French toast, that was absolutely exquisite, like no other we have had before. The oatmeal was light and flavorful.
