New authentic Thai and sushi restaurant (opened in 2023 next to Reren Ramen) with delicious Penang Curry, bursting with flavor and a spicy kick! The Penang Curry is made from coconut oil with a mild peanut flavor, it's thin and not a thick sauce. The curry had a spicy kick (the waitress voluntarily put an extra set of napkins on my table as I used up the initial napkins!), the heat wasn't too overpowering. The fried tofu was tasty and while I appreciate the diversity of veggies with Chinese mushroom, cabbage, green beans, sliced carrots, and a heap of red peppers - I'll just stick with the tofu. The sticky white rice was perfect for absorbing all that spicy curry! The only pet peeve I had was that I served the curry in a lop-sided bowl (it was the bowl design) and some of the curry was wasted as it spilled out as I was eating it. The curry would be better served in a flat bowl plate or a bowl deep enough to hold curry + rice. The Green Sushi Roll was loaded with veggies - sweet potato, avocado, cucumber, and spinach topped with eel sauce that I requested. It was fun to try, but a bit bland. Wish it contained crispy sweet potato tempura rather than raw sweet potato. I would opt out and make more room for that delicious curry! Food is great. However I've been 4 times and my experience with the service just has not been good at all. Staff just have been rude and not welcoming. I just went to pick up food I ordered to go, as I'm getting my food the server gives me my order and I grab it and I start to take out my wallet. As I'm doing that she then says I haven't paid (which I knew that because I called in) and takes the food out of my hand which I felt very rude, almost like I wasn't going to pay for it, When she saw me pulling my wallet out in front of her. What a pleasant treat! We were in Chinatown late-ish at night after an event, hadn't seen this place before, and decided to take a chance based on Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. Attentive service, kitschy-casual atmosphere, a very ample something-for-everyone menu, and plenty of meaningful vegan and vegetarian options. My fiance got sushi. The sushi menu was diverse, and priced comparably to what is now normal in the DC area. When it came out it was high-quality and well-portioned. So it's solid if you're in the area for sushi. But what really blew me away was my massaman curry, which I ordered with tofu. I have had massaman curry in a lot of places and this is the best I can remember having in a very long time. When you order curry at a lot of Thai places in the DC area give you a small portion of rice and a bowl of liquid with a few pieces of tofu floating in it, which has led me to avoid eating Thai in this area in general, but here it was as it should be - stew-like with a heaping portion of piping hot rice, big, oversized triangles of flavorful tofu, plenty of veggies. And the flavor was excellent, too - very balanced. I couldn't finish, and that is extremely unusual for me with this kind of dish. We're not in Chinatown a lot these days but I would actually go out of my way to come here, which is rare. Highly recommend, especially for vegetarians. read more

I was craving sushi rolls and decided to scroll through the many choices via Uber eats and came upon this restaurant. My strategy in ordering is usually looking for a restaurant that has some high ratings but also a great deal, so this one was chosen. I also ordered chicken wings as I was trying to meet a certain amount to get a maximum discount. When my food arrived, the driver gave me the bag of food plus a Thai iced tea and I looked at it and I said I didn't order that it was then I saw the message that said 'enjoy'. I was pleasantly surprised and thought to myself what a sweet surprise. Overall I enjoyed the crispy chicken wings as my appetizer and once I moved on to the rolls, I knew I made the right choice. Everything seemed really fresh and it was really delicious. I have to say I enjoyed the spicy crunchy salmon roll the best because of the flavor and texture. The shrimp tempura was good as well as the eel and avocado.
