I've never had South African food before, so I was not quite sure what I was getting myself into.They have a variety of salads, wraps, and sandwiches, so I went with one of their most popular items: the Booty Roll sandwich. The roll was made up of French bread, boerewors sausage, grilled onions, grilled peppers, Zunzi's Gravy, and dank sauce. (Dank sauce is actually honey mustard with a kick!) Zunzi did not shy away with their fillings as the roll was stuffed to the brim almost to the point where the peppers and gravy were spilling out from all sides. The sausage was juicy and very flavorful. There was a reasonable kick of spice with every bite. The atmosphere is very laid back and the staff accomodating. My only qualm was the wait time. The place didn't appear too busy as there weren't a lot of people dining in, but it did take a good 45 minutes to 1 hour until I got my order. Otherwise, props to the people and the food! read more

We've eaten there and taken away, either way, the flavors rock. Outdoor seating is awesome, indoor is fine too, if that's your thing. Tips: 1) get the tea, as it my favorite in the south. I get half sweat half unsweetened to cut the sugar as the roobious root adds enough flavoring that it tastes great at 50:50. 2) add grilled onions and peppers to the conquistador sandwich and order extra Zunzi's sauce. Outstanding lunch at Zunzi's today! Three of us shared two sandwiches - The Conquistador and The Godfather. The chicken on both sandwiches was SO good, as were the sauces; and the bread was super soft. Needless to say, there no leftovers. We arrived thinking they only had a deli counter/takeout window, but were pleasantly surprised at the semi-covered outdoor patio they now have set up - looks like the took over a pizza joint next door and they've done great things with the place! The patio has heaters, and they have two tables under igloos as well. This was one of my favorite bars in Savannah. If not my favorite bar because the service was phenomenal are with staff was really helpful throughout her entire experience and getting us drinks and food in a quick manner. The atmosphere was super fun and lively and really fit the beach theme going on The drinks themselves were delicious and we made the most of happy hour from five to seven and ten to eleven p.m. while I was in town . My fan favorite was the mango tango frozen margarita but you can't go wrong with two dollar high noons, during happy hour as well. I think the food was an underrated part of Zanzabar as well, but she said it was pretty out of this world and dollar wings you can't go wrong with those at all. A great sandwich shop! Great music playing and super cute decor. We split the conquistador which is about 12 inches and it was really good! Fresh ingredients, well seasoned, super flavorful! It came with bagged kettle chips which were normal. the South African tea is a little on the sweeter side so be prepared. The coffee was bitter but better with creamer in it. Our sever John was very friendly and funny, very attentive to us. Bathrooms were on the outside of the building which was weird but they were fine. So we were told on a tour this was must try. Apparently the Conquistador was voted the best Sandwich in Ga and has made multiple national lists. So of course we had to try it! Shit yeah it was amazing!! (That's the goal of their service). We got there just before the lines. You order on a kiosk which is perfect for customizing your sandwiches. Even though we recently got our own location in Atlanta, we stop here each time we visit Savannah! These sandwiches are tops! Easy ordering using kiosks in the front entryway. I'm not sure if that has always been in place or if it is a Covid precaution. There is certainly limited interaction. After ordering, you can wait outside. Our wait was about 15 minutes. I had the Johnny Roll, the hubs had the Fisherman's Deck, and the kiddo had the Kidwich with chicken and cheese. All were excellent - full of unique flavors. Portion sizes were huge and perfect for taking to a bench and enjoying in a beautiful public square. I may have to make my way to our own Atlanta location soon! read more

My husband and I shared the chips and cheese dip, chicken sandwich and the sausage sandwich. The sandwiches were bland and under-seasoned. They weren't cold but weren't hot either.
