I am a brutal person...with my glasses. Disorganized, absent-minded, etc., but enough about me, what do you think about me? Oh, right, reviewing 10/10. Recently I stepped on my glasses and needed a new pair before my vacation abroad. I was desperate and didn't have time to make a trek to Chinatown where my optician of 8 years takes good care of me. 10/10 is around the corner from my office, and a friend got a good pair from them two years ago. What service! Jesus Hernandez waited on me and sized me up (or at least my face immediately). He set out pairs that were flattering, yet funky and modern. He also took pictures of me wearing my final choices so I can see which I like. With my art director colleague, we all chose one that I was very happy with. All told, I was there for 45 minutes, chatting away about graduate school (Jesus wants to go) and my vacation. He took down my prescription and came back with my old glasses fixed up and polished. He said it would be ready on Monday (this was on a Thursday), but I said I am going on vacation on Monday. He rushed the service, no extra charge. Four hours later, he called to say my new fabulous pair was ready. When I left, Jesus and everyone else at the shop wished me a good vacation. It was just friendly and casual. Amazing! I did not think it was possible, I am still looking side to side expecting something different. Guess what, something different did happen. Two weeks ago I went shopping for glasses one more time in my blurr years. I wear glasses since I was 4 yrs old, for the first time, yes, for the first time I found a pair of glasses that I LIKE. My Theo glasses (purchased elsewhere) have been having some issues, so I dropped by this store while in town visiting my sister. Even though they knew I wasn't there to buy glasses (and didn't even live in New York!), they helped me with the problem and were very courteous. A spacious and clean store with a nice selection and great service. I highly recommend this place. The doctor took the time to explain to me details about contact lens decisions that would be better for my eyes and more economical, even though I was only there to get new glasses at the time. Best part: the person helping me pick frames gave me one on one attention for a very long time. He was friendly and patient and worked hard to develop a rapport with me. They are very well-staffed, but not overstaffed - just enough for them to be able to give their customers individualized attention. I felt like I had all the time I needed to try on as many frames as I wanted without feeling rushed. When I'm about to drop $600+ for a purchase, I don't want to feel the added pressure of time. This is such a great business that I'm actually sad that glasses/contacts shopping is something I do only every couple of years. I usually find that it is difficult for me to find glasses that I love and that most glasses stores are interested in the quick sell without good service. Not here. 10/10 is an elegant, old-fashioned glasses shop that made trying on and finding the perfect pair of glasses for me a truly pleasurable experience. Steve helped me out and he was a dream. Friendly and knowledgeable, he brought me a variety of pairs to try on and helped me out with his advice until I found the perfect pair. I had such an easy time that I went ahead and bought a pair of sunglasses as well. Now, keep in mind that this is a high end store and the glasses are expensive. That is okay. The staff was super helpful and he chose a great pair (a little pricy, yes, but he knew that going in. He has...special eyes). He's been a happy customer since then. Fast forward to today. I'd ordered a pair of glasses online and they were squishing my head. I brought them to 10/10 to see if they could adjust them for me. And they did! Happily! No charge. They also put new nosepieces on my crappy sunglasses. And the lovely woman that helped my boyfriend find glasses two years ago even said hello (I can't remember her name, but she has curly hair. The doctor strung me along for months and thousands of dollars ($6,000) in all. He sold me on a type of solution where I would wear contacts at night while I slept and my cornea would be adjusted to where I could see/read the next day. It never worked and he kept trying and charging me when he couldn't get it right. When I started seeing an eye doctor in Houston, she quickly explained that this solution was not affective for adults. So much for all of the money I spent. A hard lesson. Dr. Stephen Rozenberg examines my eyes. My vision is terrible even after cataract surgery. Dr. Rozenberg was very thorough and competent. He told me my new prescription should work and correct my vision. Ruth helped me by selecting frames. What does it take for a business to earn the lifelong loyalty of its customers? 10/10 Optics must know the answer, since I end up buying all my glasses here. This optician stocks some fairly high end frames, and you can expect to pay a pretty penny for your vanity. Yes, you can get away from less expensive frames, but if you have a predilection for things unique or uncommon, or if you simply are really picky, you'll find yourself lusting after the more expensive frames pretty quickly. The service here is excellent. Unlike the competition, with 10/10 I've never felt that I've taken too long, asked too many questions, nor been too indecisive. The store itself is appointed beautifully, and really feels as if you're a guest in someone's homes, albeit with hundreds of eyeglass frames on the walls. There's very little staff turnover here. Everyone who works here seems to enjoy doing so. I've had the same salesperson since 1996, and that's a rarity in any business. I come in, talk with my contact, let him know what I'm looking for, and we start the process of narrowing down styles, all while seated comfortably at the counter. The staff knows their inventory, and they have excellent taste. They already have an idea of what would look good on you, doing their best to keep you way from frames you'll otherwise reject. They also respect your budget (if you have one). I'll try on dozens of frames, reserving a few favorites for comparisons as I narrow down my choices. You can have four photos of yourself, with different frames, simultaneously displayed on a video monitor, or even sent to your email, to help you choose. Once you do make your selection (there's never any pressure to make a spot decision), they measure your face for symmetry adjustments, and will usually have your glasses in a few days. This isn't a one-hour optician, but then again, that's the good news. This place is for people who really care about receiving good service. If you didn't walk in with a prescription, you can usually get an exam done almost immediately. They also do what needs to be done to make sure you are happy with your prescription. I was recommended to get progressive lenses, which turned out to not work out well for me at all. They took back the lenses and we determined I was most comfortable with two sets of lenses, one set in my new frames, the other in my older, still very serviceable, frames. I've tried to like other glasses stores, from the one-hour shops at the malls to other well known places in NY, and I've only been met with apathetic, impatient, and/or clueless staff and an uninspiring selection of mass-produced frames. 10/10 continues to impress me, and judging from the number of other repeat customers who show up during my visits, I'd say I'm not alone in my sentiments. read more

Clarity of product category deserves 5 stars for me because I immediately understood what glasses and services they offered before having anything explained to me. I do not wear eye glasses; therefore the experience is generally overwhelming to me in other optical stores. At 10/10 optics, I felt calm and excited by their selection. I left hoping that someday I too will need glasses. Knowledgeable staff gets 5 stars because they know their eye wear. As I observed my friend try on selected pairs, I was amazed at the detail and intricacy associated with each company and pair that he tested. The sales staff knew exactly what pair would work with his facial shape and dimensions. They also seemed to have an intuitive understanding of what styles would be tool loud or too quiet for his personality and profession. I think it was the quickest selection process that I have seen. Superior environment gets another 5 stars because 10/10 optics has an organized retail environment which functions smoothly. There are no huddled customers in one corner looking at the 'most popular' pairs, it is an open space with an airy feeling. They offer every client his/her own stool in which to experience and test glasses, as well as the option to see photographically what the frames look like from others' perspective. If you need to have an eye exam, they have you covered as well with an honest, thorough doctor who performs the exam in record time. Not that I experienced it myself, but this is how my friend explained it to me. The only thing that they could improve is to open another location uptown near me (selfish I know)...but then again, I am sure they will when they are able to find another location with the same amenities the likes of their current corner spot on Madison Square Park. It may be cheesy, but I can't help but think that when I need glasses and get them from 10/10 optics, I will definitely be seeing things through more rose colored glasses! Although I ultimately didn't end up purchasing a pair of frames here because I ended up finding a better deal at Eyes on Broadway, I still wanted to write a review because of how incredibly friendly and informative the staff are here. Regardless of where you prefer to go for frames, stop by here to get the most personal, friendly, and helpful experience in the business. They also have a digital camera attached to a computer with a dedicated program that shows up to four images of yourself wearing different frames so that you can make a better decision about what you look like in them. After years of being disapointed with Cohens Fashion Optical, from their pushy salespeople and ugly frames, I was brought in to 1010 Optics by my sister who wanted an opinion on her frames. The frames available were gorgeous, stylish, and at very good prices. I actually bought a pair myself because they gave us significant discounts buying on the same day as each other. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. I have to get extra thin lenses due to a high Rx, and the prices beat Cohens by over $150! I am also ordering contacts through 1010 Optics because their starting price is lower than Cohens lowest. Cohens first offers a super high price, which you have to pull teeth to negotiate, but 1010 Optics starts off at a low price and is honest. I feel safe and trust them with my eye care. read more

Office is clean, staff is super friendly, and Dr. Rozenberg is extremely knowledgeable and has incredible bedside manner. Amazing! I just got my frame this afternoon. 10/10 helped install nose pads on my plastic frame. You would barely notice any trace of abrasion on the frame! The new pads are soft, transparent, and silicone-like material. It's "anti-slip"! Extremely friendly, helpful and courteous staff greeted me when I entered, provided great frame suggestions (they bring all glasses from behind a counter) and remained extremely patient as I agonized over the choices. A cool digital photo/computer set up allows you to compare side-by-side photos of yourself in different frames. They have a GREAT selection of petite frames, perfect for my small face! The staff optometrist was also friendly and courteous. He chatted pleasantly throughout my exam, reviewed all available contact lens options for my difficult eyes (astigmatism, strong prescription, extremely sensistive) and offered honest opinions on each. I came here at the end of last year to get some glasses with my leftover FSA cash (use it or lose it) and I'm so glad I did. I searched for a good place in my neighborhood that would have designer frames and Yelp directed me here. The atmosphere is professional but friendly, light and bright. I wanted prescription sunglasses and a nice man named Jesus came up to help. He picked out some styles for me and let me try on the ones I picked out. I ended up with the second pair I looked at. The prescription glasses I got here were amazing. They aren't cheap but they are the best I have ever had. The frames that I picked are nice. All in all I couldn't' be happier with the service, the quality of the work their expertise. The only thing is they are in a conservative area surrounded by insurance companies so the frame choice is a little conservative. I originally first walked into 10/10 simply to buy an identical pair of eyeglasses with a different prescription, and left with an experience that so positively exceeded any that I could have expected or have ever had at an optical store. Having arrived with prescription in hand at 10/10's wonderfully appointed location shortly before closing time, I was greeted by the most gracious woman, who clearly sensed my hesitation to consider moving away from what I believed to be the best pair of eyeglasses I've had in several decades. Since I was concerned about moving into the uncharted territory of frame styles I didn't think were suited for me, Ruth quickly realized and explained the shortcoming of the frame style I wore for years (and I really liked) and immediately selected several others, all of which were significantly better than the frame I became accustomed to. Little did I know this was only the beginning of this absolutely positive experience of buying the right eyeglasses, and how I've simply not been doing it all as well these last few decades. Ruth literately "left the lights on" for me, since the store had now officially closed, and she continued to patiently explain the features, color and shape of each eyeglass pair, and why she selected them for my face. Using a unique camera and screen to photograph and simultaneously display me wearing the different frames, coupled with Ruth's uncanny sense of style to match glasses to a face, left me incredibly pleased with the entire experience. During this process, Ruth emailed these photos to me, and looking at them later, they clearly reinforced "my" decision to go with a new frame style that better suits me. Asian brothers and sisters-- go to 10/10 Optics at 50 Madison Ave if you want stylish plastic frames that fit. So long unattractive wire framed glasses. Adios plastic frames that sit on my face and are too close to my eyes. Finally, gorgeous PLASTIC frames that perfectly fit my face from the start! No more settling for expensive frames that don't properly fit even after multiple adjustments. Ruth, the owner, was so excited to help me. She found these jeweled colored frames that flatter my face shape and complexion. I was surprised by how quickly I found a pair that I loved-- usually, I take an hour to find something that's lukewarm acceptable. She even gave me a 2 year warranty on lenses-- I'm accustomed to a one year warranty at most. I will never go anywhere else for frames-- by the way, I've been to Facial Index for years. Even though they supposedly cater to Asian faces and carry Japanese brands, I always leave with a pair of unsatisfying, yet incredibly expensive glasses that bore me because I have to compromise on style for a decent fit. If you want stylish modern plastic frames and have an Asian face or a low bridge, you'll be so happy for giving this place a try and kick yourself for not finding it sooner. read more
