What started as a routine Sunday lunch evolved in to one of the best dining experience in a long time. What made it stand out. THE OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND PERSONALITY OF OUR BARTENDER AND SERVER, STEPHANIE. First, she seemed to be alone in the bar area. Working the bar as well as at five tables in the bar. She hustled to ensure each table was adequately and promptly served. BUT THAT STILL ISN'T THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE LUNCH. When I ordered an OLD FASHION she very politely asked if I would like to try "HER" take of an old fashion. WELL, as I told her after the cocktail was delivered and sampled, I now have found a NEW favorite Old Fashion. For several years the FOXY OLD FASHION at Fox Garden on Olio Rd. was the tops in my opinion. HOWEVER, STEPHANIE'S OLD FASHION WENT TO NUMBER ONE. Of course the tomato bisque and smoked chicken wings were amazing. But the Stephanie Style Service overshadowed all else. First time eating here and it was very solid. We had a reservation, and were seated very quickly. Waitress was prompt, and we ordered. My wife and I split an order of tater tots which were the highlight of both of our meals- only complaint was the siracha in the siracha cream wasn't super evident. I had the apple of my eye sangria which was great. For my entree, I had the ale burger- great tasting burger, and the horseradish sauce was great. We also split the Mac and cheese- wasn't the best of worst we have ever had. Biggest complaint of the night was the noise level in the place. To talk with each other we practically had to yell. Tried this place today for the first time I had no idea what to expect. Didnt have reservations but was able to be seated right away which was a surprise. It was around 7:45 on a Saturday. The vibe was nice. I ordered The beet salad, which was amazing! Also had the chicken Parmesan, which was cooked to perfection. Also ordered the mac & cheese. I must say it had to be some of the best mac & cheese I've ever had it wasn't overly cheesy and overly thick, absolutely mac & cheese perfection for those mac & cheese lovers out there. The great thing is also that the service was impeccable. Our server was very knowledgeable checked on his often, but not overly annoying. The manager stopped by like mini restaurants do however, she actually added some value by asking is there anything that we could change about our meal. That was thoughtful. Made a reservation a week in advance for a birthday party of 9. Seated outside at a table made for at the most 8 people, and ended up having to squeeze 2 people at the end of the table in order to seat everyone. Add to that the sun was in the eyes of half the table, and even though I asked our server if the shades on the west side could be rolled up/down to help block the sun, it took a trip to the desk at the front of the restaurant to get anyone to try anything. Maybe the "window covers" should be replaced with shades to account for the western afternoon/evening sun? It took a good half hour for our drinks to arrive at the table (no mixed drinks ordered; the most complicated drink ordered were 2 beers). And then another half hour for our server to reappear to take our dinner order. I know it was a Friday evening, but with our reservation, I had hoped the restaurant would be fully staffed to handle our group & everyone else. Generally, the food for the group was good. However, one person ordered the Mac & Cheese with bacon topping and received a HUGE slab of fat (not sure I'd call it bacon) on top of the Mac & Cheese. Not at all what was expected, and not appreciated by the diner. Although upon review of the menu, it is described as a slab -- maybe the server should verify with the diner that's what they really want. I ordered the NY Strip Frites and was a bit disappointed in the amount of gristle present. The blue cheese potatoes were good though. My husband loved the salmon, and the burgers ordered at the table were well received. We've been to 101 Craft Kitchen a number of times & had good experiences, which is why it was chosen for this celebratory dinner. I love the vibe of 101 Beer Kitchen! The location is easy to get to and the wait staff has been excellent the three times I have been there. I was confused that there really wasn't a good brunch drink menu - that would be a good opportunity for them! The food is my biggest issue - it's very hit or miss. Portion size is good, the burger was tasty, and the loaded tater tots are divine! All the other foods I have tried are rather bland. I included pictures of the blackened chicken linguine and chicken parm - they look great, but missing flavor and depth. My boyfriend and I stopped by 101 Beer Kitchen tonight because I had seen it here on Yelp and wanted to try. We really liked the vibes of the place, low lighting which makes it feel really expensive when it's relatively affordable. When looking at the menu we had a hard time figuring out what we wanted because everything sounded delicious. We ordered the gnocchi to share and were instantly enamored by it. I am still thinking about it right now. The mushrooms definitely made the dish taste savory and salty while the gnocchi was soft but also had a really nice crunch as if it were sautéed in a pan for a little. We decided to split the sandwich and the burger in half. I loved how easy it was to cut into the chicken and how delicious the sauce was. The burger also had an incredible taste. The only complaint I had for this restaurant design is that it's small and tables are kind of packed in, which makes it really tight especially if you are sitting along the window. We didn't have to keep trading plates. The portion was huge... a split portion was more than enough food. The Chicken came with two breasts (aka a take home meal if ordered by only one person). The Salad was fabulous. One of the best Strawberry and Spinach Salads we've ever ordered. The menu is not one of those book type, everything under the sun, menus. However, there is something for everyone. For example, the Sandwich section contained a burger, a chicken sandwich, a vegan option, a turkey panini, tuna toast, and a lamb burger. One item for every dining preference. And what they do, they do very well! They have a wonderful patio seating area. It was not full early on a weekday. However, I imagine it would be a prime choice for nice weekend evenings. Our server was Shelby and she was the best! Extremely pleasant. Very prompt and kept checking back. The meal was gone too soon, but I was left satisfied and looking for the next time I could swing by to eat another meal. Girls night out was a success! This was my 1st visit to the 101 Beer Kitchen and I really liked it. The staff was friendly and seated me while I waited for everyone else to arrive. My server recommended the Monday special- the champagne margarita. It was yummy and had a nice kick. I only needed one. We started with appetizers- pretzels with cheese, devil eggs, and fried green tomatoes. I was surprised how big the pretzels were-- I took a whole pretzel home. The cheese dip has a different flavor but was really good. The other ladies were happy with their appetizers. I got the turkey pesto panini with parmesan fries. We ordered a few Brooklyn Lagers and then I split the 101 Burger with parmesan fries and the Winter Crunch Salad. Our server had them split for us, which was so nice and made dining way easier. Both were also SO GOOD. I'd go back for either of those items, with the salad being a true standout. It has "kale, radicchio, shaved brussels sprouts, carrots, gala apples, grapes, pomegranate, blue cheese, roasted almonds, and a maple balsamic vinaigrette." I enjoyed a nice glass of St. Francis cab and hubby had his usual diet fountain drink while we perused the menu. He decided to go with the housemade mac & cheese with a lobster add-in and I opted for the 101 wedge salad with a salmon protein add-on. Both were yummy and satisfying. Hubby continued to review the menu and decided to order two items for carryout for dinner that night: the green chili and the chicken Milanese. I have to say the green chili is unlike any chili I've ever enjoyed before -- I really liked the roasted pork and yellow rice in it. I ate at this establishment four out of the five nights I was there. I was recommended to this place by the hotel, and it definitely didn't disappoint - as long as you get the right meal. The first day per the wonderful waitress recommendation, I got the strawberry and spinach, with shrimp added to it. It was perfection. The dressing was just the right amount without overpowering the salad and the shrimp was flavorful and added some protein to make it a meal. I also got the deviled eggs which were pretty tasty. My drink of choice was the strawberry cucumber caipirinha, which was perfectly refreshing while sitting out on the sunny patio. The second day I decided to stick to the basics again and got the same salad minus shrimp plus a 4oz filet. The filet was pretty tasty but felt it could have been maybe a tad more seasoned. Tastes almost like a good decent steak you get at a nice fancy wedding. The third night I got takeout and chose the jerk salmon. The salmon was fantastic and the rice was a comforting compliment. Definitely very filling. The fourth night was unfortunately disappointing compared to the other nights. I chose the grouper tacos which came with a side - fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were fried quite well but I just didn't love the sauces that came with them. The grouper tacos were an interesting mix - cole slaw and fried plantains. The fried plantains were amazing and the grouper was cooked very well and tasty, but something about the ingredients together just didn't do it for me. The tacos looked more like a salad than tacos and being placed on paper and a tray made it really difficult for cutting. Also wasn't a fan of the peppers which some of the seeds would randomly show up and make the bite way too spicy. All in all a great place to grab dinner that won't break the bank at all. This was my second trip to 101 Beer Kitchen. I love the rustic, private atmosphere, and the staff are courteous and attentive. I started with the housemade loaded tater tots and a glass of Riesling, followed by the black garlic Caesar salad. The salad was perfect and had the right balance. I ate every bite.
